Down 123 in 6 mo but getting concerned..
doxieville replied to Looking Ahead's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! Do you cook? I just saw chocolate Cookies made out of Miracle Noodles. Do a websearch. They sure look good! My thoughts are yes, your stored fat could still be releasing hormones...but I'm not an expert. It could also just be the holiday stress. What if you put away all your expectations for losing weight over the holidays? Just try to maintain? Would that make things easier for you? Good luck!! -
2.5 months out and gallstones!
doxieville replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine was 6 weeks after my sleeve. I agree, better to be safe than sorry. It's an easy surgery and bad things could happen if you don't get it out. Gallbladder attacks hurt like the dickens!! Good luck! -
Post-op Bowel Changes?
doxieville replied to NathanF's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4 months out. I take a Magnesium pill once a day and as long as I get my fluids in, I have no issues with constipation. Maybe once a month I'll feel like i need help and I'll have some Miralax. I've had no issues w gas beyond the first week post-op. If you pay attention to your body's needs, drink enough, move enough and eat what your body likes, then post-surgery you should be able to live a great life with little or no sleeve side affects at 6 months and beyond. There are always exceptions, of course. -
Sleeve tight again....

Thanks to all of you who responded- you guys made some good points. I don't know if I'd use it often enough to justify the price tag. I think I need to wait a few months and then see how I'm eating and if it's worth getting I appreciate your help!

NSAIDs naughty/nice poll
doxieville replied to Tenshi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on Celebrex. Have been on it since 24 hours after surgery. -
Not sure where to ask...so I'll start here. I've lost my ass!!! It's as flat as a pancake!! In my heavier days I would buy pants w no back pockets so my butt wouldn't look as big. Now i'm looking at pants with pockets and buttons on the backside. I look a bit better with that camouflage. Any other wardrobe tips? Thanks!!! Judy

What kind are you eating? I find albacore is much easier on my sleeve.

Seriously? A fake booty? Never thought about that! I live in Texas, if I get a fake booty I'll prob just wear it for special occasions....I am just imagining how hot my butt would get. I think when I've lost all my weigh I'll get a padded butt! I still have 40-50 pounds to lose. I can't imagine what my butt will look like...or won't look like...when I've lost my weight. Yikes! Thanks to everyone for your advice! I'm going to try leggings w a long shirt, great idea!!!

64 ounces of water and 60 grams of Protein - Are you kidding?
doxieville replied to GraceAbounds's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know if anyone answered this, but I want to clear this up just in case. Of course, every surgeon has a diff plan, but i was told that ALL liquids count. Jellos, pudding, everything. In the beginning plain Water is very hard on the sleeve. It can make some people nauseous. It certainly did me! I am 4 months out and just this week i've been able to tolerate plain water w/o any issues. -
Just dropped off my husband

Are you ok? Is someone in the waiting room with you? Congrats on doing this together!! Dare I say that this is rather romantic? Good luck! -
For $500? That's a lot. I am enjoying homemade 'smoothies' though. Let me know how your search for chopping & drinking 'greenies' goes.

I have a leak, not the flu!

It could be the thicker part of the stent, but look at the bottom left photo. The top part of the stent is silver. I'm just curious.... -
Gallstone prevention
doxieville replied to PetraLuxor's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Script from doctor. I had gallstones before being sleeved. My surgeon didn't want to take my gallbladder out at the same time as the sleeve surgery. I needed a pretty severe hiatal hernia fixed and my Sleeve done, so adding the gallbladder would have kept me under anesthesia for too long. I have issues w anesthesia. Unfortunately, it needed to come out 6 weeks after my sleeve surgery. Yeah, that wasn't a fun time. :-( -

Week 3 & GAINING! Totally Freaking Out! Please Help...
doxieville replied to deedeemuffin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That could def be the cause. Fluid retention can be quite heavy. I agree that you should call your surgeon tomorrow. If they agree to take the Water pill, do make sure you get lots of fluids in because dehydration will give you a whole 'nother set of of problems!! Good luck and can you report on this thread what happens? I subscribed to it so I can follow it. It always helps to know what the verdict ends up being!! :-) -
6 months post op and oh so very stalled
doxieville replied to DuranFan1969's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think that's a GREAT idea!! Let us know what happens. -
Congrats on the weight loss!! Yay!!! Don't feel guilty about not working out every day. At this point it's best to have an exercise program that fits into your lifestyle so that you'll keep doing it and not quit. I am not a knowledgable exerciser by any means, but I've always been told to allow your muscles to rest between work outs. You can exercise diff parts of your body, but with swimming you really get a full body workout. So IMHO swimming 3-4 times a week is perfect for now!! Good luck and congrats!!

doxieville replied to deedeemuffin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do agree with the other posters that it's prob your body fluctuating. However, I do want to add that sometimes people retain fluids. Are your ankles swelling? Keep an eye on your weight and if it continues to go up, you should call the doc. A few people on here have had that happen. Your doc would want to see you and possibly give you water pills. Do not diagnose yourself. Fluid around your heart can be dangerous. While I doubt it's that, and i am not trying to scare you, I just want you to be aware of the possibility. -

Awe man! I am so sorry!! I've always read your posts because your cute pic w the banana catches my eye. What's the black stuff in the photos? I am so glad that you didn't wait to get help and that the hospital didn't delay your care. Hugs!! -

Yes! Swimming is a perfect exercise, esp for people with physical issues. (I have severe joint damage & both knees are replaced.). Just be careful not to over exert yourself, esp in the beginning. Since Water supports our bodies we don't tire as quickly as we would on land so we have a tendency to do more than we realize. I would suggest starting w 2 or 3 times a week and slowly building up to 5-6 times a week.
