Cramps/sour Stomach
doxieville replied to Starlite1531's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do you take a stomach reducer? I'm wondering if that might help. Or if you've been dealing w this so long that now you have ulcers? I do think that you should seek medical attention as soon as you can. -
Cramps/sour Stomach

Hmmm....ok. Weird. It's like your stomach is rebelling. Usually you'd get lots of responses on here. The board is pretty quiet this weekend. Hang in there. People will help when they come back. I do think maybe an ER visit might be smart. Like you said, at least to do blood work. Have you been able to tolerate your Vitamins, Iron & b12? If not, you could also be anemic or lack other essential nutrients. That would play a big factor in your fatigue. -

The assist was prob during the surgery. The whole billing thing is crazy! I don't know what to advise you to do.... It sounds like you may have a stricture. Do you know how to do a search on here? You'll find lots of info and others peoples experience. I agree w you that an ER doc is a 50/50 crapshot, but maybe that's the place to start? Maybe from there you can be pointed in the right direction? -

Cramps/sour Stomach

Lana- the metallic taste could be your body in ketosis. Can you up your carb intake? I'm not sure I understand your situation though....have you felt crappy for 2 years? Did something suddenly change? Can you find a bariatric doc that can see you? Have you been having your follow-up bloodwork these past 2 years? -
I take Magnesium 500 mg every nite. Around my TOM I sometimes have to take miralax. Haven't been constipated since the first month. When i forget the Magnesium I can tell though....

IggyChic is correct. Don't just quit cold turkey. I've been on and off pain meds most of my adult life, and it's really important to stay ahead of the pain, and to decrease the meds slowly. Iggy's schedule sounds right on target. :-)

Yah!!! I'm so glad you are better!! Now, be good and seriously take it easy! I was a month or so out and bent over to put something in the grocery cart and pulled something internal. It only hurt for about a week, and nothing like your pain was, but it can happen! On a side note, I have a sports car. An RX-8. I was going to sell it because it just wasn't fun to drive anymore. Pre-surgery i had for sale signs up and everything. 55 pounds later I LOVE it!! I'm not gonna sell it. I can get in and out of it and zip around town! I can't wait till I lose the rest of my weight (50 pounds). I'm gonna look damn fine in my little sports car! So, when you are ready, Blackie is going to be a blast!!

I do. I've lost 55 pounds. My legs have thinned out, my butt got lost somewhere and my boobs are like streetlights. But I still got my belly and hips!!! They are going to be the last to go, I guess!! I'm still in pants 16/18. We'll lose it, eventually! :-)

8:20pm? And you've only consumes 200 calories? Be careful, you could be sending your body into starvation mode. Your body will also start taking away from your muscle. Your organs, esp your heart, is a muscle and need nutrients to survive. Do you have a nutritionist? You really should be consuming 500-800 calories, 60-100 Protein. Carbs vary depending on how your body uses them. I need to keep mine at 20. Some people can have up to 80 or so. Play around with that, but don't play around w starving yourself for very long. Use this time to learn how to eat and learn forever healthy eating habits. :-)

Oh! I HATE that!!! Posting pixs on FaceBook w/o asking people is so very offensive. It really is wrong. On a positive note, I've lost 50 pounds and was very comfortable having my pic taken this Christmas. It's a nice feeling!! Good luck to all you future sleevers!

Glenda, you need pain relief!! Do you have a PCP you can go to? Or even an urgent care? I cannot believe that your surgeon isn't giving you anything!! You need to get on the phone and be persistent!! Call him on off hours and tell his service how much you hurt. Let him be disrupted! Your pain level is just unacceptable.

The thing is...you won't know until post surgery. Some people have it easy, others don't. And there's no way to tell ahead of time. Also, you could be fine one day and the next day pull on a suture attached to a muscle and wam! You're in horrible pain for a few days or weeks. And the fatigue is hard to deal with. I hope that you are one of the lucky ones who fly through this easily! Good luck!
