Eating Quickly W No Side Effects

Yeah, I haven't gotten the opps feeling. But like Zino said, this is the time to retrain my brain, so I kinda wish that I DID have that negative feedback from my body. Thanks! -
I had mine removed the day I left the hospital- 2 days after my surgery.

Company In The Hospital?
doxieville replied to scorpion509's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You aren't required to have someone there, but it's nice. Can he just come see you after you get to your room? That way the kids are only left with someone for a short time? In most hospitals, he won't be able to see you until you go to your room. And no, you aren't being selfish, this is YOUR day. -
Get a submersible blender. I got one at Costco last week for $28. It's great! Anything that is chunky liquid you can puree and it becomes a full liquid. The texture in your mouth is different, but your brain registers all the familiar tastes. I'm breezing thru the puree stage thanks to my mighty blender. :-)

Lump Or Ball Feeling
doxieville replied to 1footinfrontoftheother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Gas maybe? I'm only 2.5 weeks out, but my guess is it might be gas, esp since it comes and goes. Did you have a hiatal hernia repair? -
Just an FYI: According to both my surgeron & my rhuematologist, Celebrex is the ONLY Cox-2 allowed post surgery. I've got severe rheumatoid arthritis and was back on Celebrex two days post surgery. But PLEASE, consult with your doctors before taking any medicine. Everyone is different.

Complications After Surgery.
doxieville replied to kimberlee1235's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was also sleeved on 8/21. For the two nites and 3 full days that I was in the hospital I was given breathing treatments every 6 hours. And of course I had to do that crazy spidometer (sp?). I'm doing ok with breathing even though last week I caught my sisters cold. . Did you guys get the breathing treatment? -
Losing Hair... Chop It All Off?

VERY CUTE. You look younger already. -
ButterTheBean, I LOVE THIS!!! How very clever. Next challenge: Pasta. I'm afraid that pasta is going to be my downfall. Any kind of pasta w a creamy sauce. My NUT says I can have some every once in awhile, she does'y believe that all foods should be off limit. But I'm afraid once I figure out a way to eat creamy pastas, I'll be done....maintaince scares the crap out of me too. If you could figure out a way to make me look at creamy pastas like you did with the Lays (my fav too!) i'd be forever in your debt. :-).

O.T.R Sleever: I saw those at costco. Are they decent tasting? Thanks!

How Much Did You Lose?
doxieville replied to Goodgonebad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 30 pounds in 4 months of pre-op. About 10 of those were in my pre-op liquids right before surgery. My surgeon requires 7 days of pre-op liquids. I was sleeved on 8/21 and haven't lost any weight yet. I think my body has gone into shock and needs time to adjust to the 30 pound weight loss AND the surgery. I had one early morning panic but this great group of people talked me off the ledge. Nobody has NOT lost weight when they follow the program, which I do, so I know that I'll start losing when my body is ready. Good luck! -

I Realized Today
doxieville replied to newgrandmother's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I an looking at this a bit differently: We've ALL been on diets before our sleeve where we had to restrict ourselves. Obviously, we all failed at those diets. :-). And we've all gorged ourselves with foods we loved because we couldn't stop at just a few bites. Well, I'm looking at my sleeve as a way to enjoy ALL foods again, with no guilt. Gustavo posted on another topic about being exposed to a decadent chocolate cake recently and he didn't crave a huge peice, but knew if he wanted to, that he could stop at one or two bites. THAT's what I'm looking forward to. No more food guilt trips, or overindulgences of food. But that I can have a bite or two of WHATEVER my sleeve will tolerate and be happy. Of course I'll have to be careful and not constantly eat whatever I want, but the knowledge that one bite of something delicious isn't going to send me down a path of glutony makes me positvely giddy with happiness. -
Tovanta, good post!! I agree with what you said. Once someone decides to do this surgery, just do it. :-). It's NOT easy. It's a long, rollercoaster ride and if a person doesn't invest 100% in themselves, it will make for an even bumpier ride. To the first poster: Don't get me wrong, it'd normal and perfectly ok to be nervous, but be prepared too. Have you seen a psychologist? I was required to see one for 4 months and it REALLY helped me. Good luck!!

Getting The Jitters
doxieville replied to MyJourney2013's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me if I hadn't been nervous/anxious/scared that I wouldn't be 'normal' and he'd worrry. I got sleeved 8/21, nerves and all. :-) -
I thought it was because we can eat such a small amount that if adding liquids to our meals, we might not get enough protein/nutrition because we'd fill up too easily.

9 Days Post-Op - So Unhappy
doxieville replied to Kimee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'd say yes, its normal. I'm 11 days out and am just focusing on ME. My hubby has stepped in and is taking care of the household, although we have dogs, not kids. But I take care of dogs for a living & he's really helped me. We have 2 dogs here right now that had no place else to go while I am recovering because their mom is in the hospital. Anyway, can you get help so that you are just concentrating on YOU? It's really, really important to get liquids in at this stage. Dehydration will do awful things to you body, including becoming depressed. Can you have full liquids yet? Don't pay attention to carbs & calories at this stage. I never drank Crystal lite and those other drinks before, so I'm not drinking them now. I'm doing broths, teas & now pureed Soups. Find what you like & can tolerate. As i'm slowly adding new things I only try one new item a day. Your tummy needs time to digest. When you get to soft foods, then I'd start to pay attention to what you eat. But for the first few weeks, hydration is the most important, then Protein. Even liquids at diff temperatures may help you. I like room temp, while others like it cold. Experiment!! And don't feel guilty about being sluggish! Your body went thru major surgery. I think that we all expect more of oursleves than we should. Hang in there, Judy -
8 Lb Weight Gain Two Days After Surgery?
doxieville replied to txgirl36's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thedogsmommy, it's a vicious cycle: you need to stay hydrated or the nausea will get worse. Did the doc give you pills for the nausea? I took mine every 6 hours for the first few days and it helped me keep up my Fluid intake. Good luck! -
You look & sound fanastic!! Very healthy!! Hopefully next anniversary I can join you with my success. (8/21/2012 sleeved). Thanks for sticking around on this board to help
-
How are you feeling? Day 3 & 4 were my worst days of the whole process. Just make sure you walk. Don't worry abt drinking as long as you've got an IV in. Good luck!! Judy

Hi everyone, What's the difference? My info packet doesn't use the word 'puree.'. It says 'full liquids is anything that is liquid and pourable.'. In my thinking, that means pureed, right? So I can open a can of a chunky Soup but puree it with my immersible blender? Thanks!! Judy

Not criticizing ANYONE, but aren't people who are really 'into' different kinds of foods just eat a bite or two of something and move on to something else? It seems like the more expensive the resturant, the smaller the portions. I am not speaking from experience; I was an Olive Garden big bowl of Pasta 'Connisoure.' :-)
