My Surgery Update

Awesome! Look at your nice, clean liver!! -
Where did you find Excedrine migrane? I thought it was off the market due to issues at the plant/factory where it was being made. Maybe the issue has been resolved?

Every doctor is different, so you really need to stick with your doctors protocol. That being said.....I was taking pills w/in 24 hours. I'm on extended release medication for pain control & autoimmune diseases and the docs (primary, rheumy & surgeon) all agreed it was better to keep my on my regime. I'm 3 weeks out, had a leak test last week...all's good.

5 Days Post Op Side Feels Like I've Been Run Over By A Truck And It Hurts When I Breathe!
doxieville replied to grayeybeauty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey there! I can relate about all the meds. I have auto-immune issues and was told I needed to add another pill to my regime. I actually heard mental brakes (like gears grinding to a stop) and thought NO MORE!! My doc suggested WLS and probably saved my life. Hang in there! It does get better. Make sure you follow your docs orders to a 'T'!! Everyone here is different and their docs have their own reasons. Also, I'm a bit confused. You say you are alone in this journey, yet you mentioned your daughters helping you take a walk? That's great if you have support! -

Hungry 2Hrs After I Eat....
doxieville replied to Mskandi80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just curious..aren't we supposed to eat every 2-3 hours regardless if we are sleeved or not? I really think all the diet pros recommend that, don't they? Or am I dreaming? Which wouldn't be the first time when it comes to food!! Lol. -
When Will I See The Scale Move?
doxieville replied to LawDiva312's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 3 weeks post-op today and only yesterday the scale started to move. Just follow your doctors protocol and the weight will come off. -
And I've been doing SO well!! Tuesday i'll be 3 weeks out; on full liquids until then. Here's what happened.... This morning at 5am, after feeding the dogs, I grabbed my SF pudding and Protein shake and crawled back in bed. I read for about an hour, eat my pudding and sip about half the shake. Then I go back to sleep until 9ish. That's been my schedule since week 2 when I started on Full liquids. This morning at 9 I woke up with an INTENSE pain in my chest, right between where my breast bone is, so it's pretty high up. Holy Toledo!! Is THIS what you all have been experiencing with heartburn? Ouch!! And I had some nausea too. I took Omeprazole & Promethazine and went back to sleep. On hindsite, I should have gotten up and walked. I KNOW better. I woke up a few hours later with cramps. Went to bathroom and whoosh!! Massive blood. (sorry guys.). I kinda expected it because of what I've been reading on here about hormones stored in fat, but WOW. You really don't understand it until it happens to you. So why the pain & nausea? I have two theories, but if anyone has any other ideas, please speak up. The pudding I ate was a dark chocolate. I'd been eating vanilla only until today. Maybe it was too strong/rich for my digestive system. OR, yesterday I started taking my Vitamins. I had 1/2 at lunch and half at dinner. They are chewables & very tangy. Maybe the combination? I'm laying here reading all your posts and thinking that I still don't have it as bad as some of you, but I sure sympathize for those of you who are having a hard time. This sucks!!! I've been hurting all day, I can't imagine feeling like this for weeks. In Sympathy to my fellow sleevers, Judy

Well, Today I Crashed...
doxieville replied to doxieville's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep, I'm totally in agreement! I really think it was my period. I had a really rough 2 days with heartburn & nausea. The 3rd day was a bit better, 4th day I was back to normal. It HAS to be those hormones stored in our fat. That's my story & I'm sticking to it! :-) I hope you feel better soon. -
Complications Almost 5 Months Post Op

Just a thought: are you keeping a food journal? Maybe it's something you are eating that your body is reacting to? -
Did/does Anyone Else Feel This Way?
doxieville replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So VERY VERY TRUE!! Thanks for the laugh! -
Try the library first. I checked out some books i thought i'd probably want to buy and they are duds. :-)

I'm having a pretty easy time of it too. Yes, we are all expert dieters. What I have to keep reminding myself is that this time it's for keeps! The weight really isn't going to come back. My brain hasn't wrapped itself around that yet. I am not even truly excited about the weight loss so far because i've been at this weight before. I know my brain will catch up, it's just kinda scared to get too excited. :-)

The Infamous Stall...
doxieville replied to Curvy Girl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I stalled right out of the hospital! I had lost 30+ pounds pre-op and my body decided nope, not letting any more weight go! I refused to panic because I knew from stories on here that eventually the scale & inches would move downwards. I was sleeved 3 weeks ago today and I'm slowly losing weight as of Sunday. :-) -
Ouch!!!! My suggestion for fluids is to go the the store and buy a variety of liquids & frozen popsicals. Be careful w the sugar. You will eventually lose weight, so dont concentrate on really healthy things. You can end up in the hospital for dehyrdation pretty darn quickly. Try things like carb free fudgesicals by breyers. Or fruit juices mixed w Water. Or broths. You need to find something you can keep down. Good luck today! Hope its a better day.

What I Learned At My Support Group Meeting
doxieville replied to Fun size's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nyxa, it IS sad. I'm not disputing that fact. But, don't forget that when we were fat, people looked at us and were thinking the same thoughts about us and our addiction to food. Here is where I think the mental health and all these supposedly "physce evals" prior to surgery are failing. And again, while transfer addictions are real, I sure don't want to be lumped into a statstic. Again, just my humble opinion!! -
Yeah, we that happen to one of our babies too. She's still getting physical therapy and walks like a drunken sailor. But, the joy of doxies is that practically nothing breaks their spirit! She's still as fun and spunky as ever. A wirehair!! I fostered one once. So rambunctious! We call them the clown dog of doxies! How are you feeling today? Getting more liquid in?

Hunger Pains Or Not?
doxieville replied to oconnell's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you drinking before & after you eat? That will make your sleeve empty faster. The rule of thumb seems to be no drinking 30 minutes before you eat and 30-60 (varies by doctor) after. -
Aha, ButtertheBean!! That makes total sense. I hadn't thought about the dehydration/potassium link. Thanks!

OmG! I had one last nite. I can't believe I had them all this time and never thought to have one. I'm going to have one tonite again. They are so good they should be illegal! Thanks!!

College Kids Post Sleeve. How Do You Do It?
doxieville replied to michblate's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Do a search on here for 'college' and 20's. There is an entire forum divided up by ages. Maybe you can find people who are going thru the same thing. Also, don't dismiss the fact that our bodies & hormones are changing and its easy to get into a depression. If you can't get out of your slump, please go see a counselor. If you don't want to use the college counselors, maybe your insurance will pay for a WLS counselor. Is this your first year? Transitioning into college is hard, and you've got a double whammy! Just rememeber that you will be feeling better. Take care of yourself. And rememeber that one really good friend is more important that a gaggle of aquaintances.
