The Wls Honeymoon --- You Only Get 1 Chance At It!
doxieville replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Very interesting! Thanks. So my question is when the appetite comes back at 6 months, you are still restricted. Because 'pouchie' is still small. You can just eat a bit more than you could post-surgery, but as much as pre-surgery. Right? So at 6 months your good eating habits should be in place so that you don't fill your pouch with junk when you get hungry. At least...thats what I got from it. :-) -
Sudden Severe Incision Pain...ouch
doxieville replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Whoa! You are doing too much!!'i'm 4 weeks out and my side still aches at times. You had MAJOR surgery. Just because you can't see the incisions, they are there and deep inside of you. Please, pamper yourself. The floors can stay dirty for awhile. :-) -

Reason Why No Food For 3 Weeks & Update
doxieville posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Everyone, I had my Two week checkup today. It was great! I've lost 12 pounds post-op. It was only 2 pounds of muscle that I lost, the rest was all fat. I love getting weighed at the office because they have a machine that breaks it all down. I've been cleared for exercise, so hopefully next month I won't have lost any muscle. Dr. duperier, the wonderful doc that he is, spent time with me, as always, to answer some questions: Stretching Your Sleeve: it is possible to stretch your sleeve, but you have to work hard to do that. One or two meals that are too big won't stretch it out. Constantly overpacking it for months will stretch it. Gaining Weight or 'Cheating': The Sleeve will fail if you drink sugary liquids. He has seen it happen and it saddens him. That is why counseling is such an important part of this equation. Losing Weight & low carbs: I thought once I was sleeved that I will always have to eat low carb. Not true. Once I'm at goal weight, I can eat freely, within reason, and Protein always first. No food For 3 Weeks: The reason is because the stomach needs to heal and not strain itself by processing food. So I was wrong. I thought if any food was pureed, I could eat/drink it. Not so. It has to be full liquids with nothing the stomach sees as 'food.'. So my pureed oatmeal, pureed Soups (other than creamy & broth) are no-no's. There is no such stage as 'pureed stage!'. It was a very interesting visit. They did my leak test in the office and he spent time letting me drink & watching my sleeve fill up. I even got to see what happens when I overfill my sleeve. I am a renegade! I asked him if I could and he said 'sure.'. It was really cool. No wonder it is uncomfortable. I hope other August sleevers (and everyone else!) are getting good news from their docs! Judy- 24 replies

doxieville replied to chilihot59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh Catracks...you SO are!!! And that's ok!!! You've worked hard to get to this point! One of the main reasons I got this surgery is because i had both knees replaced 5 and 6 years ago when I was in my 40's. . With the weigtht I was carrying, I would need both knees replaced in my late 50's and again in my 70's! That's 6 knee replacements in my lifetime!!!! That's crazy! -
Yes, you guys are correct and I stand corrected. Sorry! I called her to verify. She went to a 2 year full time credential degee program. She is NOT a massage therapist. I don't quite understand what her degee is in but it's below w full Physcial Therapist. Sorry again. She even told me 'Judy! You do NOT go to a masage therapist for this treatment!'. Opps!!

Positive Experiences Please!
doxieville replied to jennlhp's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm sorry to hear that you chickened out. But, if you weren't ready, then you weren't ready. There IS a risk of something going wrong. But, there is a bigger risk of things going wrong if you stay obese. Gentle hugs. You'll know when it's right. Just rememeber, you probably won't ever be 100% sure. As my surgeon says: its ok to be scared. This IS a big deal. -
Positive Experiences Please!

LOL! How about this? I am 4 weeks post-op, about 40 pounds down total. I'm a 51 year old woman. I was with my 28 son today doing chores. Both a costco and BJ's men hit on me!! At BJ's the manager even gave me a giftcard. WTF? It was nice, but there was an extremely obese woman sitting at the table next to us and he ignored her. So wrong!! I just laughed nicely and said 'thanks, I'll give to my son'. And I did. The woman and I just smiled at each other. :-) But, my son and I had a great laugh over me 'debuting' my new body!! Of course...the bra comes off and down go the girls....Cinderalla is back home. -
Fibromyalgia; Arthritis; Nerve Pain
doxieville replied to mokee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Chronic pain here from several auto-immune destructive diseases. . I would strongly suggest that you talk to your surgeon about pain control while recovering. We who suffer from chronic pain need to be extra diligent w the pain control so that we don't spiral. I was sleever 8/21. Feel free to PM me. -

Opps.....hit sent too early. ....wonky immune system surgeon didnt feel comfortable removing it during my Sleeve & hiatal hernia repair. I'm on Ursidol but I still need to have my gallbladder out because if it turns toxic on me i'm pretty much out of luck. Body would be in deep trouble recovering from that. Schedule set for Nov 9 or earlier if i even have one mild attack. -

My diagnosis was my pre-op ultrasound. Because of my wonky immune system sirgeon -
True, it MUST be a massage therapist who is trained to do it correctly.

Do you get massages? If not, find a massage therapist who has experience with this condition. My friend is a massage therapist and has a few clients with it and she's improved their life significantly. I would imagine that WLS would help you, but I really am not basing this on anything expect it helps with many health issues. Good luck!
