Really Disappointed With Such Poor Weight Loss-Insight?
doxieville replied to samomom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Cookeeeezzz, you did WHAT?? Smashed the scale into a mirror? Seriously or were you joking. Hard to tell on here. If you did- are you ok?? And can you explain the 12 hour metabolism better? -
I thank all of you for helping explain this to me. Rick, i like your idea of using slider food in positive ways. I'm going to keep that in mind. BTB, yeah, i think you are right. Darnnit!! I'll bet all my lost pounds that the Protein bar has become a trigger food. I had the munchies like crazy today & I've been craving the bars. I worked SO hard to get rid of triggers pre-surgery. I haven't been craving anything till now. Double darn. Thanks for catching this. Judy

doxieville replied to chad2rad's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Awww, this sucks! I really hope she decides to be with you. Buy SF pudding. I loved SF Jello going in, now i can't stand it! chicken broth. I prefer wylers cubes. Def heating pad. Gatorade2 Let's hope someone shows up who can pamper you. Hugs, Judy -
Oh! So it doesnt only have to be a food that melts! Thanks.

Ok....so the Protein Bar isnt a slider food, it's just a temptation that needs to be closer monitored.

Stupid Carb Question.
doxieville replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I do Net Carbs. Total Carbs - Fiber + sugar alcohols = total I lost 40pounds in 3 months eating the Atkins way, and i don't eat red or processed meat. I really like eating this way bcs I don't eat fake or low fat either. It never agreed with me. I am tracking my calories on MFP. I've managed to keep my calories between 600-800 post surgery. Pre-surgery I have no idea. Honestly, I'm not sure what is going to work for me long term, but I like cheese too much to give it up. :-) But, I think I need more carbs for my workouts. So.....I'm a work in progress. -
I realized today that I can drink more! I am a HUGE drinker (non-alcoholic!) and I mourned not being able to drink more than food. Today I realized I was doing 'gulp-gulp' instead of just gulp!! I'm so excited. It only took me 5 weeks!! Yahoo!!!!!!! :-)

Stupid Carb Question.
doxieville replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BTW, i ate a lot of carbs today!! 2 sushi pieces and 1/2 a crab cake. Took me lunch and dinner and snack time to eat them, and they were YUMMY!!! :-) Oh, and pre-sleeve it would have been a whole role and 2 crab cakes! What a difference. -

Catracks- wow, that's crazy!! So.....how do you make sugar free cookles? I'm new to all this different way of cooking. Any guidance helps. I've been looking at eggfaces website but it can be a bit overwhelming. :-) Thanks! -
Oh, I'm so sorry! My son went thru this. It has taken him a year to recover. He leaned on his family and his friends. He is just is starting to look around for a possible relationship now. The point is, it DOES hurt. Own it, acknowledge it, work thru it. Thank goodness broken hearts do mend, eventually. And maybe one day you'll be able to look back at the good times you had w/o pain. I am VERY proud that you came on here for help. That is so much healthier than turning to food. Hugs to you, from a caring sleever and a mom who has been there w her son.

Stupid Carb Question.
doxieville replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good answers, everyone! Webchick, your post is excellent with all the information in one place. It will be good for when people do a search. About me: i am 5 weeks out. And yeah, the fatigue is probably still from the surgery, but i'm trying to start to exercise slowly. Walking 15 minutes 2x a day or doing the Wii. So nothing hard, but i think if I add a few more carbs it will help. My stall has been pretty much since surgery. But i lost 40 pounds in 3 months pre-op so I realize that this stall makes sense. Butterthebeans article is great. I read it when i was pre-op so I knew what to expect. I'm truly not stressed about anything, esp not my stall. I know it will come off. :-) My sleeve is rocking. Dehydration is really serious stuff so i've always kept myself well hydrated. It scares me when people on here say they aren't drinking! MFP is great! I joined it last year but really only started using it postop. Thanks again for spending the time to write all this though. It will be really helpful to many people. :-) -
Stupid Carb Question.
doxieville replied to ljperez's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So......ButtertheBean....(and anyone else) I'm supposed to keep my carbs really low like in the Atkins plan. But i'm so tired all the time! However, I lost 40 pounds pre-op by eating low carbs - no more than 20 a day. So.....i'm wondering if i up my carbs will i have more energy and therefore do more and lose the weight in a healthier way? I see my NUT in a few weeks and I'll certainly ask her, but i'm wondering what the food (haha) of thought is here. I enjoy eating a la Atkins but I'm in a major stall right now. ( Not worried about it though, i know it'll come off eventually.) Thanks, Judy -
Foods You Definitely Can't Eat Early On?
doxieville replied to Mrtiger1's topic in Food and Nutrition
My NUT told me to stay away from any grains, such as oatmeal, until I was on full solids. She states that the grains make your stomach work too hard at digesting and you want your tummy in a resting state so it can heal. -
SweetSusle, Can you give me (us) some examples of what you make for your portions? Do you do it for the week? Day? I'm trying so hard to organize myself and I feel like i'm not doing a very good job of it. I don't eat red meats so i am a little bit more limited. Fish just doesn't seem to be keeping me fill for very long. Thanks!

Very, very cute!! The only problem I see is that we sleevers are supposed to get in so much Protein and not eat as many fruits. Maybe when one is further out those portions will be accurate? i'd love it if a veteran would chime in here because it's really a cute idea. Thanks SO much for sharing.

August Sleevers?! Where Ya's At?
doxieville replied to futureskinnypants's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Ummm....i'm not sure that's true. Many of us, me included, stalled right after surgery. I've lost about 5 pounds post-surgery and its been 5 weeks. I'm pretty sure when my body stops freaking out it will lose weight and then stall again. Which would not mean that I'll have lost the most weight the first month. At least I HOPE not!! :-) And I've read many stories about others like me. We are all react so differently that I think the only thing for sure is that most peoples path are unique. I guess the other similarity is we all have stalls. Some sooner, some later. :-) Again, i'm not a pro, this is just IMHO. -
Becoming More Active - Pre-Op Or Post-Op?
doxieville replied to bakawaka's topic in Fitness & Exercise
I'm 5 weeks out. I have two knee replacements and weak ankles due to rheumatoid arthritis. So I was not cleared to exercise until 2 days ago, and i need to start slowly. Honestly, I let myself enjoy my 'free pass' for not exercising. But now that i've started, it feels great. I can tell how much the 40 pounds i've lost has made a difference. Because i've disliked exercise in the past I've started by playing with the Wii. I have a gym membership and hope to be motivated to start swimming soon. I don't think that the surgery magically makes us want to exercise, but i do think that the motivation comes from a better success rate post-op than pre-op. :-) -
I got tired of it too and just switched to G2 (gatoraide). The lemon-lime is the best so far. I freeze the bottles bcs I think it tastes better as a 'slushy.' What i do is freeze a half full bottle. Then i'll top the bottle with cold lemon-lime & shake & wait. In less than 5 minutes i've got a slushy mix.
