Does Wl Really Stop At 6 Mos?!
doxieville replied to Blugirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OT is correct. My surgeon hates the phrase 'honeymoon stage.' He says it discourages some people from trying after 6 months. If you still have weight to lose and you are working the program and exercising, it will still come off. -
Lotion For Skin Toning...
doxieville replied to lucky8mb1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Meme, if people have really dry skin like me, lotions really do help. Granted, they are temporary fixes. And they do make the skin feel better and softer and sexier when glowing. -
How Long Does Our Sleeve Take To Heal?
doxieville replied to sarah14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said 8 weeks. And for me it's super important because I need to go back on an immune suppressant drug to control my auto immune diseases. If my sleeve isn't healed 100% when i go back on it, i'm screwed. My body will start to breakdown what it sees as a 'wound' or foreign object but it's my sleeve. So it needs to be all nice and healed and staples tucked in place like good little soldiers. -
Lotion For Skin Toning...

Try getting a cream with collagen. vaseline has one and so does St Ives. (Sp?). They are found in drug stores and are reasonably cheap. Lather it on all over. It will help temporarily prevent from sagging which might help stop the creation of more stretch marks. And like OT said, drink, drink, drink. You must stay hydrated. -
This Comment Made My Day - Nsv

That's awesome! -
What type did you get? I prefer the fettuchini style. I use the recipe on the bag. Make sure you rinse really well and dry them completely. If you don't dry all the way the sauce doesn't stick. And don't overcook them or they get chewy. One more tip, only eat a few bites and then wait about an hour. You want to make sure your tummy can digest them. I love them but to some people they cause gas and have a hard time digesting. Good luck! Let us know what you did with them.

Anyone have anything good/bad/neutral to say about this Protein powder? Thanks!

My NUT has me under 20 carbs because i'm very sensitive to sugar. The upside is I can have unlimited calories & fats.

Road Trip, Need Some Take Along Food Ideas !
doxieville replied to Cinders's topic in Food and Nutrition
cheese sticks, depending on what your doc allows at 3 weeks. drinks. I'm pretty sure you can't take fruits & veggies across the border? -
I ate them a lot during my pre-op. The trick is to wash them really well. But be aware that the texture is so different that it won't satisfy your craving for Pasta. And i agree with one comment: they are hard to digest. I'm not too sure my sleeve will want them hanging around in my new tummy. I strongly suggest that you do NOT order a box. Not until you've tried them.

Kflan, How'd it go? If you ever feel up to it I am sure that others would appreciate hearing how yours was. :-)

Stair Climbing Question
doxieville replied to moregoodtimes's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Climbing up stairs should not be an issue at all. And many people sleep in their recliners the first couple of nights, so I'm sure your setup will work just fine. The pain is localized in your belly area, in fact many people describe it as having done 1000 pushups. Having a high bed really shouldn't make a difference. It's the sitting up to get off the bed (at any height) that hurts. Always try to tuck your legs up and roll. Sitting directly up will hurt. -
No worries, they will give you medicine in your IV that will knock you out.

Omg Chobani Apple Cinnamon Greek Yogurt!
doxieville replied to suepeeps's topic in Food and Nutrition
It really does depend on how each individual responds to carbs. Count yourselves lucky if you can handle carbs! I am SO sensitive to carbs, good or bad ones equally, that I try to keep my intake at the highest at 20grams. -
I'd also like to know the carbs on the Thin bars. Thanks!

Does Surgery Hurt?
doxieville replied to drexelgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But also be prepared if you have gas. It can range from unbearable pain (i cried!) to nothing. It really depends on the individual. The good news is the pain doesn't last and its so worth it. -
For me it's def the calcium, always has been. My pill regime is take something every time I eat, preferably 6 times a day. What brand fiber gummies do you take? I also take miralax but its not always practical. Thanks!
