August Sleevers Where Are You? Check In Please!
doxieville replied to Lucabelle1313's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Start weight: May 253 Date of sleeve: 8/21 Today's weight: 209 Eating low carb (20 or less). Unlimited cal/fat. Protein 60plus. Don't work out yet. Not cleared. Have auto-immune issues. Had gallbladder out last week, 7 weeks postop. I get hungry every 3-4 hours. I love it! All i have to do is eat something small & I'm good to go. Pre-sur I was never really hungry & would pig out at nite. This reminds me to eat! Tired. But not because of the sleeve or lack of pro or Vit. Other health issues. Emotionally good. I could NEVER have kept this weight off by myself. I'm a slow loser but NUT and I think we've figured out that i'm very carb sensitive. Yes, very glad. -

Best of luck!!! (And it's ok to come on here and not be excited. We will talk you thru it. We've been there, done that, and have felt like a truck ran us over. No.....more like we did 1000 situps in our sleep.) -
Burning Pain Under My Shoulder Blade.
doxieville replied to LovingmeForever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question, and i'll be interested in what other people say. I have read on here that some surgeons do take it out during their sleeve surgery. For me, it would have been too much for my body to deal with as I also needed a hiatal hernia repair. Also, from what I understand, it isn't a given that your gallbladder will act up. I had stones pre-op so for me it was mainly a matter of time before I needed it out. Unfortunately, I needed it out sooner than later at 7 weeks post-op. . -
Burning Pain Under My Shoulder Blade.
doxieville replied to LovingmeForever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The lack of symptoms and being unaware of them isn't quite true for WLS patients. WLS patients are aware that our gallbladders can act up at any time because of rapid weight loss. -
I had to take 4 huge antibiotics for dental work. My tummy hurt so much I ate a bowl of mashed potatoes!! I decided I needed something to absorb the pills and carbs be damned. It worked!!

Oh, I reread it. You are suggesting vomiting. I think it may be too late.

Deek- i'm not sure what you are saying is unsafe? Drinking something warm makes perfect sense.

How Long Does Our Sleeve Take To Heal?
doxieville replied to sarah14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well.....last week I had a bit of a stepback. . My gallbladder had to come out. So now I have to wait at least 4 more weeks to go back on my meds. I'm bummed. Otherwise it would have been tomorrow that I could start, my 8th week. My body is tired. I'm spending more and more time in bed as the diseases take over. But, this is just a reminder for me to be REALLY grateful that man made these good drugs to help people with immune systems gone wacko. Thanks for asking! -
Any Protein Bars Worth Trying?
doxieville replied to thehappycat's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I got addicted to power crunch bars. They are that good. Anyone who is sensitive to carbs i suggest you stay away from them. As for Atkins bars: be careful. The sugar alcohol can really bloat some people and/or cause diaherra. Some people are more sensitive to sugar alcohols than other. I can eat one a day. Found that out the hard way. :-) -
Am I Loosing Fast Enough? (Got The Sleeve At 154#)
doxieville replied to vssupermodel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Newgrandmother, i agree with you, I am not passing judgement. We all have our own roads to travel. But 'wow, amazing' is my feeling too. Not neg or pos, just amazed. I love learning new things and being given a reason to think differently about something, so I am anxious to hear her story. -

What Am I Thinking?!
doxieville replied to Look@meitsEmily's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When my PCP suggested WLS surgery as an option for me, I was Stunned!! I wasn't THAT fat, was I? Well, i kept bouncing between 220-250. And I have several auto-immune diseases. So....i went to a Bariatric doc for a consult. What an awakening. I was considered 103 pounds overweight. With my medical issues my insurance passed me without hesitation. My feelings were hurt. Lol. I had such weird feelings. It wasn't until I saw the Physce a few times and she really helped me realize that this was the best option for me. Good luck everyone! -

Am I Loosing Fast Enough? (Got The Sleeve At 154#)
doxieville replied to vssupermodel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This surgery was originally created to remove parts of stomachs destroyed by ulcers or cancers. Then it was discovered that it also helped with weight loss. So historically it didn't even start as WLS. I just thought I'd add a history lesson on here. :-) My vote is still out on judging the OP. I think it is too major an operation to have as a preventive surgery unless obesity or medical history is an issue. It scares me to think that this is the new future so people can stay 'beautiful' and skinny. So, I am looking forward to hopefully hearing the OP's story. -

You need to read people's stories on here. Make a list of the pros and cons. And really take a serious look at your goals. It IS a serious surgery. And it should NOT be taken lightly. Most of us are thrilled about the outcome. Many of us have had setbacks. You need to be positive and know that you'll be ok and that if set backs happen, then you will handle them as best you can. YOU need to make this decision for yourself, not for anyone else. Good luck! -

Question For The Ladies - Post-Op + Cycle (Possibly Tmi)
doxieville replied to Izuri's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That happened to me pre-op when i lost 30 pounds in 2.5 weeks. I talked to my NUT about it and she said that it happens. After 3 months my body regulated itself and all is normal now. -
Unsure If I'm On Target...advice Appreciated.
doxieville replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Def not alone. I was sleeved on 8/21 and have lost about 10 pounds post surgery. I was hospitalized for gallbladder removal last week, which set me back. I'm not yet cleared for exercise either. Talked to NUT. She wants my carbs below 20 grams a day. She thinks that might be the way i need to eat. We'll see how I do. -

Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery
doxieville replied to sleeve 4 me's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Womdering- no judgements here. We are all human and we all slip back to our old habits at times. The good thing is you recognize it and have asked for help. My suggestion is to plan your activities and your food. Schedule something REALLY fun at 3:00, if that is your temptation time. Don't plan anything around food during this time. Go shopping, see a movie, whatever will get you excited. Do this for a few days. You need to reprogram your brain to stop seeing 3:oo as munching time. And do plan your meals. Never go hungry. Good luck!
