    Upper Gi

I don't think you can have an upper GI done while asleep because you need to stand upright and swallow the barium. But...i could be wrong! It does sound like two diff procedures, both of which I had pre-op. The sedation is Versed. Pronounced ver said. You won't remember a thing. Only issue I had was it does burn a little going into the IV. Good luck everyone!
  2. How are you doing? Any better? Do you have your gall bladder?
  3. Then yep, probably isn't gallbladder pain for you. . Is it any better/worse as the day progresses? Maybe trapped gas? Have you tried gasX strips?
  4. Could be gallbaldder. If it continues you need to call your doctors, regardless what it is. I had mine out 7 weeks after my sleeve surgery.

    325 Pounds?

Gaye, I've seen your pics in other posts but they still amaze me. There are a lot of wonderful and awesome before & after pics on here but yours stands out. You don't even look like the same person! The before person looks like a very nice woman, the after one looks like she's going to go out and conquer the world, kick ass and be nice about all at the same time. It's hard to explain, but your presence just shines in that second photo. It's like you've been given a second chance to take the world by storm and you are enjoying every minute!! You GO girl!!! Judy
  6. Don't tell people until YOU are ready. No one should be forced to tell people. Once you tell one person, the cat's out of the bag, so to speak. People lose a lot of week quickly on the Atkins diet and nobody challenges them. So just say you lowered your carbs. And when you are ready, you can add 'i had WLS to make sure the weight stays off.' Good luck!

    What Would You Do?

What is your Bmi & weight now? At 29yrs old and a history of yo-yo diets....you need to do something to stop the yo yoing. Go to post surgery stories and search people who are a year or so out. It's still a struggle to keep the weight off for some. The sleeve is a tool but not a magic bullet if you don't change your habits permanently.

    Shirataki Noodles

I think theres an option on the bag for microwaving them also. I do remember I cooked them too long one time and they were awful. Chewy. Has anyone tried them yet post surgery? .

    A Little Embarrasing...implant - What Size?

If/when i get back to my weight in my 20's, I want to go back as a C. They fit me best. D's are just too big for a small body structure.

    Shirataki Noodles

Did you cook them for a really short time? I think over 3 min in micro and they do get rubberlike.
  13. Kozmo! That is AWESOME!! Thanks for letting us know.
  14. No, it doesn't. Moderators are on this forum and ban people like him. It's best not to antagonize but to just report & let them deal with it. We DO have difference of opinions and great discussions where we all learn from each other. But bashing as this individual did is not tolerated and nor should it be.
  15. There is a lot of misconceptions about stretching the sleeve. Basically it takes a lot of work to stretch it, but do a search on here to read everyone's opinion, ask your doc, and decide on your own what feels best to you. What everyone DOES pretty much agree on is that liquids don't stretch the sleeve. :-) I had little problems drinking liquids too and was happy! No dehydration issues for people like us. Good luck!!
  16. I totally respect other peoples posts here, but I need to respond to blackdahlias post. While reading my response, PLEASE keep in mind that I am NOT bashing her opinion. I am so tired of people on this forum thinking because we post diff opinions that we are bashing the person and that's just not true. We all learn here by different people posting diff stories. Anyway....i have Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA.). I had it for 20 plus years. I was lucky because my blood work showed a positive RA factor. People can have RA w/o a positive. Doctors need to look at symptoms also. Blackdahlias friends story is sad. What I suspect happened was a misdiagnosis. However, RA is VERY destructive left untreated. So with her weight loss and discovery of RA, I hope that she is receiving treatment. IMO, WLS saved her life. RA left untreated will attack your internal organs and can lead to heart disease and death. I've lost 2 friends to this and it's horrific. I sincerely hope that anyone who has more joint pain w WLS is persistent in getting a proper diagnosis. Keeping weight on really isn't healthy, no matter what. I had my WLS 8 weeks ago, gall bladder surgery 7 weeks ago. I cannot yet go back on my medication, and ordinarily I'd be in a nasty flare. To my and my doctors surprise, I have not yet flared!! I think it may be due to eating very low carb and the inflammation is being kept under control. It won't last forever w/o drugs, but I'm enjoying the honeymoon while it lasts. :-)
  17. Oh yeah! Gross!!!! I think I was pre-sur or had just had it. I still don't crave chips thanks to BTB!!

    A Couple Of Questions....

My insurance doesn't cover the NUT after surgery. I chose to continue to use the one at my docs office but i pay $25 per visit. Worth it to me, helps keep me accountable.
  19. Oh, and Catracks, you wrote exactly what i've been thinking. Every word. Couldn't have said it better myself.
  20. Wow, this thread is tackling lots of interesting issues!! Great discussions! I want to second what BTB said about slider foods. I realize now, with the education from my NUT, here, and my research, that even though I didn't have a lapband, I WAS eating only slider foods. I was on medicine that hurt my tummy and it was so much easier to fill up on 7-up and mashed potatoes rather than broccoli & fish. I suspect that is why I have to stay away from carbs now. Can anyone say Comfort Foods? Most of us ate those pre-surgery.

    Out To Eat

At 8 weeks out, i still have problems digesting shrimp. Not sure why? And last night I was eating what I THOUGHT was the right amount of tuna, i got lazy & didn't weight it. It had to be more. I felt so full! In the past I've always burped and know that's it, i'm done. I didn't last nite. And I must have hiccuped for over an hour. So.....even at 8 weeks out, it's still a puzzle at times. :-)
  22. Forgot my point! Yes, if you haven't had an ultrasound yet, you should. Did you have one pre-op? My doc requires one.
  23. I opted not to wait. I couldn't risk a bursted gallbladder or a stone stuck in a bile duct. But I've got other health issues that a bursted gallbladder would have put my health at a further risk.

    Gained 5Lbs Wth?

Fiddleman- you and i eat the same. Low carbs & miralax. What now works for me is to split the miralax. Try taking it am/pm. Works much better. And OP (i think its billysmom?) listen to BTB. He really does know what he's talking about. I was feeling frustrated last month he talked me down. I went to see my NUT and we figured out I am VERY sensitive to carbs. So now i'm eating 20 or less carbs and unlimited fat (within reason) and calories. You need to eat to fuel your body. If you lower your intake even more, you will become very ill and not lose any weight. I know it's frustrating, but you need to step back and re-evaluate your plan. There IS a process to all this and it doesn't happen overnight. We all wish it did!! Hang in there!
