5 Weeks Out Today And Really Concerned :(
doxieville replied to Carly4HandinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Proudgrammy: i've got a question: when you feel hunger is it time to eat? Or have you just eaten? If you haven't eaten in about 3 hours and you feel the rumblings, try eating a small snack. It's healthier for your body than adding more PPI's. The acid in your tummy is saying 'give me something to use my acid on!!' -

Just Started Pre-Op Diet... Kinda Scared, Lots Of Questions.
doxieville replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Bryan, Why are you having this surgery? (This is a question most WLS therapists ask you.) Seriously. Think about the reasons WHY you are having this surgery. (No need to tell me, I just want YOU to think this over.). Make a written list. Keep looking at it. That list needs to be your motivation and your lifeline. You need to stop focusing on what you 'can't' have and start focusing on your new life. For example, at 400 pounds i'm guessing you'll need a seatbelt extension? Or two seats? Just think: flying home will be the LAST time you fly that won't fit in one seat easily! YAH!!! Find something that really motivates you and have that be your mantra. It's just not worth losing your dreams for a bite of peanut butter. And as a side note: I'm in the same mindset as ButterTheBean: I now stay away from certain foods. Why should I start eating the crap again that got me here in the first place? Now I finally understand those restaurants that serve small portions of high quality food. Tastes SO much better than an xrta large plate of high carb/fat foods. IMO. Hang in there, Bryan. I'm hoping that you will be one of those who in a few months from now can talk someone else through this. And before anyone blasts me for being a 'hardass' on here, READ Bryan's other posts. He is asking for help. Peace, Judy -
Opps, left out a word: week before my WLS surgery.

I sprained my foot BADLY the week before my when i lost 40+ pounds. It was all black and blue. We thought I'd broken it. Almost postponed my surgery. What happened was my foot got thinner and I was walking down a set of stairs right after i'd slipped on my tennis shoes. I didn't notice that my foot was too loose in the shoe and my ankle twisted side ways. Man, I cried and screamed like a baby. Sprains are nasty. I still have problems with it. Moral of story: with weight loss, make sure your shoes fit!!!

Getting Used To Mfp
doxieville replied to lollyfidy1965's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yah!! Good for you!! Nice picture!! -
Hi!! Welcome!! Do a search on this topic and you'll find may posts. For most of us, the sleeve is a healthier way to go. But, do your research and look at ALL sides and viewpoints. You need to decide for YOU and what fits your lifestyle better. Obviously i'd say the sleeve, but I don't walk in your shoes. Good luck!

Hi ladies! I just read this thread & congrats on making it thru the pre-op diet. You gals entertained me!! :-) great attitudes. Char-char. Try adding miralax to your daily routine. I split mine up between am/pm and it's kept me regular for the past 2 months. Adjust your dosage according to how your body needs. Make sure you get in your liquids. You can take a laxative for constipation but those can be brutal. It's best just not to get in that condition in the first place. I know, easier said that done!! Good luck! It only gets better!

Adding to Finding Memee's post....how do you communicate when he's been mad in the past? Do you communicate over emial or text? I agree, let him cool down. Then maybe send him links about the dangers of the band. Send him some of the stories on here. Depending on how he deals with anger in the past will help a lot of us guide you. Is he scared and doesn't know how to show it? Resentful of the money? Jealous? Is he overweight? What are your ages? 20's? 30's? 50's? If I sound like i'm asking for personal info, I am! Lol. But it's hard to help w/o knowing. If you don't feel comfortable sharing, which is totally ok, do a search on here for other hubby problems. Maybe that will help. Good luck!

Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?

Do You Still Look Forward To Food Or Enjoy It?
doxieville replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bryan, i'm 2months postop and i finally said to my hubby last nite that i'm starting to enjoy food. We did a salmon meal takeout from Cheesecake factory last nite and i ate 1/4 of it. But i enjoyed every darn bite with NO guilt!! Pre-surgery I would have eaten the entire meal and wanted more and felt guilty. So...it's a diff way of looking at things. I would recommend that you see a therapist that specializes in WLS. If you are thinking NOW that you are going to have issues then you need to start working on tools presurgery to help you. It's a long road, esp if you have insurance. Selfpay people don't have to jump thru hoops. But, I appreciated the hoops i had to go thru. It's made me have a very successful ride so far. And it IS a ride, make no mistake. You have so many ups and downs, but it's all worth it when the scale goes down and the pants are too big! Do you have support from home & friends? Since you say food is a social thing for you, this is important. Do you have any active friends who you can do things w other than food? Your life WILL change. There is no way it can't. But, if you embrace it, it really is a GOOD change. Judy -
Does Anyone Know The Limit On Carbs?
doxieville replied to mrsdaugherty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on a 20 or below for carbs. 60 Protein. And unlimited fat & calories. It's hard to go crazy w high calories when the carb is so low, so it works for me. After a long stall when we switched it to this the scale finally started to move. Don't forget that if you have Fiber or sugar alcohols you subtract from the carbs. -
Losing Too Much?
doxieville replied to Mom2IrishTwins's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. No way could I do only 3 meals a day. I can't eat enough to stay full that long! My NUT says to keep my body fueled so it burns off stored fat. My son was interested in a career in Nutrition. He lasted one year before switching his major. He said it was a field full of inconsistencies and some really far fetched ideologies with teachers recommending contradictory lessons. I didn't really believe him....after being sleeved and all these diff meal plans, I sure do now!! :-) -
New Picture 6 Weeks Out
doxieville replied to billyvmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You look REALLY great!!! Keep rocking that sleeve!! How's your hair holding up? It's beautiful! -
Not good. Not good at all. You NEED to call your doc tomorrow. If your gall bladder ruptures...let's just say you don't want that. If your doc blows you off, can you go to an ER? Walk in clinic? Is the appointment w your PCP or the surgeon? Please don't ignore this.
-
Where is your pain? It can really vary. Sharp pain up and down your side is a biggie. I'd suggest you do a search on google. My BIL thought he was having heart problems. He threw up green bile and they knew it was gall bladder.
-
Post surgery of gallbladder removal? I had mine out 7 weeks after being sleeved. Had the same aching stomach like I did after being sleeved.

My Hair Is Falling Off Help!
doxieville replied to marie110's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Andy, that's REALLY weird!! You may want to see your PCP or a dermatologist. You may have gotten a rash or an allergy? It doesn't sound normal. -
