Pre-Made Wild Salmon Patties From Sam's
doxieville replied to Feeling Free's topic in Soft (stage 3)
OH Indy!!! I am SO jealous. That's REALLY fresh fish!!! Try cooking the frozen salmon patties in a little oil wrapped in foil. Don't defrost. Take them out of the foil at the end and put on grill and put a slice of cheese on it to melt. I like Havarti cheese. -
Pre-Made Wild Salmon Patties From Sam's
doxieville replied to Feeling Free's topic in Soft (stage 3)
I love the salmon patties from costco. My hubby BBQ's them and melts cheese on it. Frozen wild fish is flash frozen pretty quickly and packed full of good nutrients. Of course the patties and fish with marinate probably aren't. And most 'fresh' fish was previously frozen. So if you prefer fresh, make sure you ask if it was previously frozen. -
Perhaps Its Time I Share My Story..
doxieville replied to bsmith's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Becky, wow. I am so sorry you went thru all that. Thanks for sharing your story. I DO think you should share it with the lapband forum. People need to know what to watch out for. This may seem trivial, but was your chest ok from the broken toilet seat? You could have cracked a rib! When you are ready, if you are ever ready to share your personal story, I'm sure many here would feel honored. But don't share unless you are truly ready. Some times we just need to savor things for ourselves, and that's ok. Hugs!! -
Whats Wrong With Me?/
doxieville replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I see it as one of those miscommunications when people read things that are written and interpret them their own way. There's a word for that...is it syntax? I can't remember. English majors, anyone? And yes, I did read the entire thread and his last paragraph. Again. I read it as BTB saying that ' at five weeks out you have the Protein thing figured out, don't you? Because if not, let's go back to the beginning and help you figure that out.' Nothing is more important to being successful with this surgery than getting your protein in first. It's so important to living healthy with the sleeve, and BTB is very passionate about that. Maybe you could have asked him to clarify what he meant rather than go on the defense. But, i'm not going to argue semantics. I will drop it, as you requested. I really do wish you success. -
HATE the glue!!! I had staples for my sleeve. They were taken out before i left the hospital. Beautiful. Had glue for gallbladder. Messy, itchy, red, and incisions aren't healing as well or as pretty.

Whats Wrong With Me?/
doxieville replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow. That's harsh and kinda unexpected from you, newgrandmother. ButterTheBean has only ever been kind and helpful to everyone on here. I've read and reread his post to you and am lost as to where you see any disrespectfulness on his part. And you ARE asking for help/people's opinions. And BTB has never said he's perfect, in fact it's the opposite, he openly talks about what got him here, just like all of us. I rarely stick my neck out here bcs of all the nasty backlash, but I just couldn't let this one go by and not defend someone who's only been gracious to all of us here. -
Dcline, may i ask where u r getting it done in SA? Who are ur doctors?

Anyone Eating & Drinking At The Same Time?
doxieville replied to NJSleeveboy's topic in Food and Nutrition
So....I have an entirely different problem. I have an autoimmune problem where I don't make salvia or much gastric juice. I HAVE to drink when I eat or I can't swallow. It's a pain in the arse. I really have to be careful when I eat so that I don't drink too much. If i get distracted it's easy to do. I am happy to say that I haven't yet had a dumping episode. (Knock on wood.). But i have noticed that sometimes I get hungry sooner than i should. So if you don't have to drink while eating, i'd suggest you don't. -
Omg! I Don't Like Greek Yogurt...

I'm only 'allowed' 10-20 carbs a day...so 9 carbs for one thing might not be worth it. -

Where Did You Lose.weight First?
doxieville replied to SoonToBeThinKAT's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've noticed my butt shrunk!! Also my boobs and back fat. Tummy & hips still here. Oh, and my calves!! They are now tiny!! Very odd. As a result, it really hasn't been a huge diff. People tell me i look healthier and have more color in my face. I honestly think it's also inflammation has decreased. That's why i won't go back on carbs. Anyone w previous joint issues should pay attention to that. :-) -

Does Anyone Know The Limit On Carbs?
doxieville replied to mrsdaugherty's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 weeks out on Tues and there is no way I could get my Protein in w/o at least one Protein Shake a day. I'm a lazy eater so sometimes in the evening if i haven't eaten enough i'll have a 2nd shake. My NUT says it's ok to have protein before going to bed. On the days i do that I notice that I sleep better, wake up better, and have a better morning. :-) -

I want EVERYONE who is second guessing what their pain might be, if it is related to gallbladder symptoms to READ YOUR STORY!!! I am SO sorry that you went through all that pain and that it's not resolved yet. I suggest as soon as you can to get it out. Honestly, yours is the first i've heard of a surgeon leaving an inflamed gall bladder in. But, i am just learning about this myself. I had mine out 7 weeks after my WLS. The gallbladder was starting to act up and an ultrasound showed pre-op that i had stones. We opted not to remove it during my sleeve surgery because i needed a hiatal hernia repaired also and adding gall bladder removal would have put me under anesthesia too long for my other health issues. Please take care of yourself. Maybe see if you can get a second opinion?

When i was on liquids my hubby took the toaster out on our deck to toast his bread! I love the smell of toasted bread.... He also figured out how to cook pizzas and other foods on his grill so he wouldn't smell up the house. AND he ate outside. Yeah, i married on of the 'good' guys. :-)
