Asked For About 65 - 70% Removal Rather Then Standard 80 To 85 Percent
doxieville replied to Bryan Whitson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
BTW: read the post on here 'I don't like food anymore.' Doesn't happen to everyone, but it's pretty common and you can find posts like that all over this forum. If this happens to you, will be able to handle it? Again, I am NOT flaming you or jumping all over you, I'm trying to help you see the realities of this surgery. -

Bryan, I really hope that you do not get flamed for this comment bcs I think that MANY people fear the loss of food, you are just being honest about it. So....I'm going to be honest back: Bryan, it REALLY sounds like you are not quite ready for this surgery. The 'loss' of good food is temporary, the loss of weight is permanent. . If you can't bear the thought of being even 'away' from food for a few short months, then mentally you are not ready. You are more than likely going to find ways to eat around your sleeve and it could be a disaster!! Have you gone to the recipe forum on here? You'll see that it's not all doom and gloom. There are some pretty tasty creations post-op. I'm enjoying my sleeve at 9 weeks out. I love the idea that I can sit and enjoy really good tasting food and only need 1/4 of what I ate before. This allows me to really buy high quality food and eat at better restaurants. So the quality of my food has improved immensely. But, back to you: I strongly recommend that you have some sessions w a WLS therapist. Or, and i mean this w no disrespect or unkindness: don't have the surgery. This isn't a walk in the park, Bryan. It's serious stuff. If you aren't ready mentally to part with food, even temporarily, then you will be putting your health at risk post-surgery. Please step back and take a serious look at this surgery. It's not for wimps and how well you will really be able to handle the limits post-op. Because no matter what the size, you'll still have the post-op limits & discomfort. I wish you all the best and truly hope that you can work thru this. -

Stop Eating Switch
doxieville replied to michelleooo513's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 weeks out. I used to give out a little tiny burp and then I knew that I had to stop. Taking even one last bite would do me in. Recently it's just a full feeling and I CAN take that one last bite, but then i need to stop or I will be really uncomfortable. I think that most people learn to figure out their rhythm thru trial and error. Good luck! -
The top sentence was cut off! Weird. Anyway, I am making plans to go to Vegas the last week of February 2013. .

2013. It'd be fun for some of us to get together & share stories and meet other people who have had the surgery.

Being impacted is NOT fun!! I think it's very brave that you came on here and talked about it. People do end up in hospitals for impactions. It's serious stuff!! Keep that liquid moving. I'm sure you'll be sore tomorrow. Maybe a nice bath w epson salts will help if you feel discomfort. -

Also, if you are taking Calcium & Iron those may be the culprits. I rotate them from one day to the other. Even w taking Miralax am/pm taking those together block me. Try adding magnesium supplement when you take your calcium. I read it also helps to keep things moving along. -

That's dreadful. And I don't think that you are alone with this. It sounds like maybe you might not be consistently drinking enough Water? Go buy suppositories laxatives at your drug store to have in case this happens again. They will soften things up from the anal area. Do you feel better now? -
Hmmmm....ok. I'll try that! :-)

I'm losing super slow. I was sleeved on 8/21. I around 230. Today I weighed in at 207. I'm ok with that loss. I started at 253 in May and lost a lot pre-surgery. I KNOW that weight is never coming back. I never was a big eater. Sure, I'd have my Pasta binges but I never ate near the quantity my weight looked like I was. Nobody believed me!! They thought I was a closet eater. Post surgery the docs and NUT are FINALLY believing me. We think that I am just very, very sensitive to carbs. So i try to stay less than 20, but 10 grams a day is better. W/o this surgery I wouldn't have been able to sustain that low like amount like I can now. So i'm putzing along, slowly losing and enjoying life w the knowledge that eventually i'll get to my goal weight.

How Many Calories/sugar/carbs/protein
doxieville replied to tqmeri30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on 10-20 carbs, 40-60 Protein. Unlimited fats & calories. But w limited carbs its hard to get above 1000 calories. This is the ONLY way I can lose weight. I've been doing this for 6 months and whenever my carbs go up I stop losing weight. No matter what do. I am just extremely sensitive to carbs. So the 'calorie deficit' doesn't work for me. . I'm hoping once I lose the rest of my weight (about 50 pounds) and I go into maintaince I can relax on the carbs. -
Does Anyone Know The Limit On Carbs?

Yay!! That's great! Like we told you on MFP, (i think it was on there, lol!) upping your intake in a healthy way helps and adding almonds was smart. Brain food!! :-) -
That's just awesome and I'm so happy for you!! Feeling healthier and being on less meds is so rewarding. For me, being thinner is wonderful & fun but being healthier & getting off those meds we needed? PRICELESS!! :-)

Back To Work Too Soon! Regrets! (I'm Not 25 Even Though I Feel Like It Inside!)
doxieville replied to Holly5.3's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hey Holly, I'm sorry you aren't feeling great. I went to a doggie reunion for our rescue group on saturday. I thought I was doing great. On the way home....oh Lordie!!! Needless to say i was in bed Sun & Mon. I THINK the burning may be that you tugged at your internal stitches. I read that some stitches are sewn to the muscle wall and that what tugs and then could burn until it dissolves, which takes several months. Could that be the burning or is it your new tummy? I'm sure this made you feel stress so your acid could be churning more... If you continue to hurt, calling your doc back might be a good idea, even if just for peace of mind. I hope you feel better soon. -
