So, this is weird. I was sleeved 8/21. I had a pretty easy time of it. Have been following my plan & eating has been 'normal.' No big problems. Today got away from me and I didn't eat much. That's rare for me. Now tonite, I am not hungry at all and when I tried to eat dinner my stomach turned on me & felt nauseous. Very odd!! Anyone have any clue as to what's going on with my tummy? Thanks!!

Didn't Eat Today & Now Not Hungry.
doxieville replied to doxieville's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I usually eat every 2-3 hours. I'm one of those who hasn't lost my appetite. I have no problems getting my protein, liquids & caloric intake. That's why today was so odd! I felt hungry and put off eating for about an hour while I had appointments. But, then I forgot to eat. Very unlike me! I even carry around protein shakes and almonds in case I can't get to a good food supply. This sleeve adventure is a roller coaster ride!! Thank you for your input. I took my PPI after I read your post. Hopefully it will help me. -

Nah, I don't think its the flu. I feel fine other than my tummy. At least I hope it isn't!! This feels more 'sleeve' related, if that makes ANY sense at all!! -

Just Starting My Wl Journey, Would Really Like A Mentor/buddy Who's Been Where I'm About To Go :}

Hi! 99% of the people here are GREAT and someone is always around to support you. I promise, if you post 'eating a french fry!' MANY people will come out to kick your ass. Probably more than you ever wanted. As you hang around on here, you'll get to know the regular posters. So hang around! I have RA also. Am 51 yr old female. Was sleeved 8/21/12. Six weeks after being sleeved I had to have my gallbladder taken out. I was on Enbrel for the RA but went off of it 2 weeks pre-op. I'm still waiting to be able to go back on it, but...I seem to be in remission! I'm having my RA factor & sed rate checked this week and will see my various doctors next week. I pretty much have/had (?) your alphabet Soup of health issues expect diabetes, but I'm sure that would have happened w/o the sleeve. I have severe RA and have already had both knees replaced. other medical problems stem from RA and a wacky immune system. Feel free to contact me! Judy -
Not All Sleevers Eat 500 Cals A Day For The Rest Of Their Lives!
doxieville replied to FishingNurse's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Now these are the type of posts I really enjoy and appreciate! While I realize, and try to understand, the almost fanatical eating plan some sleevers are doing, I just don't feel that it's healthy. I do think we need to curtail the unhealthy Snacks and trigger foods, which for me is carbs, but I don't think that drastic dieting helps. For me, I need to use this sleeve restriction time to learn how to eat. Not to learn how to diet. I've got how to lose weight by depriving myself down like a pro, it's how to learn to live WITH food that I need to work on to be permanently successful this time. Am I losing weight slowly? Yep. But a pound a week works for me and I feel healthy and happy and not deprived. So, thanks for this thread. -
Seeking Advise On Coworker Lunch This Week
doxieville replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need to say what feels comfortable for YOU. And that should be what you tell all people who you aren't telling about the WLS. The 'less is best' is always the perfect approach and I agree with deltagirls approach. Just give them a one-liner. At this point I say 'I'm doing the Atkins diet w the help of a nutritionists.' Or sometime i just say 'atkins diet!' Most people today are aware that those who follow the atkins diet lose massive amounts of weight quickly. And basically, you ARE on the atkins diet. The plus is that you won't gain it back!! Figure out what feels comfortable for you, say it, and move on. When she says 'wow! You look great!' Say 'thanks! You do too!' And that may be all that's said. Good luck!! -
Where is it?

Most of you figured out I have dogs. Long hair dachshunds to be exact. 3 reds, 2 blondes. Here's the latest pic of the blondes: Well, having dogs means shedding. Usually only 2x a year. Fall is one of those times, so they are shedding. I am also a blonde. And at almost 3 months post-op, i have now joined my dogs in shedding. Woozers!! What a mess!!! I go see my hairdressers next fri and I'm def going to cut it short. Question is, who will stop shedding first? Me or the dogs??

21 Days Out & Having Unusual Pain...
doxieville replied to carmelguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The internal stitching is often stitched to our muscle wall. So as that tightens it can hurt if we pull. Massage and heating pads can help until the stitching dissolves. It can take up to 3 months. That being said, you should still call your doc to rule out any complications. -
Don't freak out. You have NOT stretched out your sleeve. It's ok. I'd strongly suggest that you do a search on here for this topic. It's a common one so you'll find lots of good answers. It takes a lot of work & long time overeating to stretch out a sleeve. Your body is probably telling you that tuna isn't agreeing with you. That happens a lot. food we used to eat easily doesnt agree w us at first. Always try it again further down the road. I'd suggest to just have fluids today to let your stomach settle and if you are allowed solids at this stage, start w something that you already know that your new sleeve will tolerate. Good luck!

I REALLY like Cheri's post. Her comments are probably the most common sense posts that i've read on here for a LONG time. I'm a 'slow loser.' And I'm ok with it. Never have I ever felt so accomplished, confident and satisfied when losing weight before. I've lost 50 pounds 6 months, including pre-op, which my doc absolutely counts as part of the process, because it IS!! I know that weight is gone!! My doc says 15 months is about when our bodies stop losing weight unless we really push ourselves. He says at 15 months after surgery thats when our skeletal frame adjusts to the 'new lifestyle' or whatever you want to call it. So I still have 50 pounds to lose to get to goal. I was sleeved in August, so that means I have till next Thanksgiving to keep losing if I continue to work the program. The way I look at it, this is year for me to celebrate, retrain myself to eat & live a healthy lifestyle. No habits formed from years of practice are going to change overnight. So I'm ok with being a slow loser. It will be the LAST TIME I ever lose a massive amount of weight. (I feel like that Taylor Swift song: i'm never, ever ever EVER gonna see the fat again.) So I am not rushing thru this wonderful experience. Maybe this comes from being an older gal and I don't feel like i need to lose the weight to start my life. I'll accept that. But what I don't want to accept is docs getting down on their patients and upsetting them by putting meaningless and harmful labels on them. Hang in there.
