    So, My Critical Mother.....

LOL Tara!!! Sisters can have such complicated relationships! And if it were only that easy to just keep doing the pre-op/post-op diet! I'll bet we have all done a similar 'diet' only to gain all the weight back. Oh yeah, your hippie daughter would def give you grief!! I've had 'health nuts' (and I mean the extremes here people, not someone who eats healthy) who are total strangers in health food stores start to lecture me. People can really be judgmental and jump to conclusions. 'Fat* person in a health food store!! Danger, danger! Must go lecture and rescue from total destruction!!' *i'm just being silly. Don't anyone jump all over me.
  3. If you get in plenty of liquids, you can dilute your morning coffee if you really need the caffeine. But be careful of the acidity it might create in your sleeve. Some people can handle it, some can't.

    So, My Critical Mother.....

Gmanbat, you are right. You really are. I always had stomach issues as a kid. I now know it was stress resulting from an abusive, violent father. Her main concern last night was how did my stomach feel these days. So maybe she truly doesn't SEE the weight loss. Thanks for pointing that out.

    So, My Critical Mother.....

Thanks Tara! I really haven't figured this one out. She's a bit overweight and has always had battles with her weight. Yep, I 'learned' her eating habits & issues quite well as a youngster. Reward & comfort with food. I knew that she and my sister (also overweight, who is now 'competing' with me and losing weight on her own. I am happy for her and find her competitiveness amusing. But if it gets her healthy, yah!). Anyway, they would both have flipped if they knew I had surgery to lose weight. I told them, and everyone except my son & hubby, that I had a wonky stomach and Bariatric surgery was the only way to fix it. Lol. It's KINDA true!!

    Sick Of The Stall!

It also depends on how much you need to lose. Those who need to lose 50 will go much slower than someone who needs to lose over 100. And if i read that correctly you lost 23 pounds very fast. There's a great link on ButtertheBean sig line. If you haven't read it, you should. It explains stalls and why the body needs to regroup. And my surgeon told me that the losing 'honeymoon' is 15 months. Yes, it slows down around 6-9 months, but only because around that time people are closer to goal.

    So, My Critical Mother.....

Last word was supposed to be 'sad'. I hate that the iphone app cuts off the viewing screen when creating a new thread. Anyway, last month I actually asked her what she thought of my weight loss and she said 'oh, you always look nice.' Relatives....

    Myfitnesspal Confusion

Yes! If possible, to disable or change the exercise settings. I don't like the way it deducts calories from the total.

    Plateau And Weight Gain

I just saw my doc last week. He decided not to back off on my thyroid meds yet. He thought it would be best for me to run a little higher while i'm still losing so much so that my thyroid doesn't have to struggle to keep resetting itself. Did that make sense? It did when he explained it to me in his doctor mumbo jumbo!! He wants a TSH complete blood check every 2 months instead of every 6 months.

    Pain After Vsl

It could have happened while you were asleep. If you've had an infection then you know what to look for. The pulled muscle does really hurt. Try light massage and warm compresses. That should help.

    Plateau And Weight Gain

Everyone has given excellent advice. Just one more thought. I also have Hashimotos disease. Are you being really careful to take your meds on an empty stomach and waiting an hour to eat? I was diagnosed waaayy back in the 70's and I had a fantastic doctor. He really spent time with me helping me understand the disease (i was around 10 years old, pretty young.) Every time I've slacked off and forget about the empty stomach, I've easily gained 5 pounds literally overnite. With Hashimotos disease what little your thyroid produces your body can be allergic to. So if your meds aren't working right, you can throw your body into chaos quickly. Your TSH's won't show up as off because by the time your blood work is taken, your body could have righted itself again.

    Pain After Vsl

Is it warm around your drain? Any weird colors? Red streaks? It could be a pulled muscle. Sutures are attached to the muscle walls and until they dissolve they can tug and pull and really hurt. But I don't like that it's close to your drain. If i were in your shoes I'd call the doctor. I really would. The last thing you need is an infection from your drain.

    Help Please

Keep trying different things & different temps until you find something you like. Don't forget that jello counts too. Don't worry about if it isn't SF. Right now it's more important that you drink than worrying about calories.

My Fitness Pal? Nutrition Levels For Wls

MFP is great and very adaptable. Somewhere in the settings (need to go to full site, not the app) you can adjust your levels. I don't put my exercise in. I feel that it takes away too many cals. I DO save many of my meals & foods so they come up easily. There's a learning curve but once you get past that it should be easy.
  18. I think it depends a lot on body shapes. I doubt i'll ever be a 4/6. My hip bones are just too big. I was 14 in my 30's and looked great. As soon as I dropped to size 12 I looked awful. And weight is so subjective too. There was a great post of deltagirls w pics of two identical bodies. One was 'in shape' with muscle mass which made her heavier, but she looked skinnier. So.....i don't think there is really an answer to this question. Is there?
  19. Does anyone else's body just not want to drop to 199? I've been lingering at 202-204 and it just won't drop!! I decided that it's because it's such a significant number so it really isn't that my body won't give up the 200's, it's not a stall, I just happen to be stuck right before the 'big onederland!'

    Getting To 199.....

I just edited my original post. I re-read and realized I had forgotten the word 'not a stall.' Lol. That makes a HUGE difference in what I was trying to say. Duh- forgot to proof read!!

She's flying her way to you because I refuse to believe that I've stalled. :-)

    Getting To 199.....

Yep, teasing is a good word!! But I do want to clear something up- i am totally chilling and ok with my weight loss. This is a permanent lifestyle for me so I am retraining myself how to live & eat. I could crash diet and exercise up the wazoo to lose the weight faster, but then what have I learned? Nothing. And at 51 I am too damn old to keep yo-yo'ing. So I am losing slowly, consistently and permanently. My point I was trying to make (and didn't do a good job of it) was how we perceive the infamous 'onderland' in our brains. Let's use different numbers, same weight loss: 207 to 203. Four pounds doesn't make that big of a deal on the scale.. But 203 to 199. Huge!!! And yes, while all these are 'just numbers' and not the end all and be all, we all do Celebrate when that scales slides into the '1' instead of being stuck on '2.' I sure hope I made sense. :-)

    Sad..

Once things settle down, I am sure his office will call you. Legally they can't leave you hanging. What usually happens is he will transfer his cases to another doctor. By next week I suspect you'll be notified what will happen.
