    Super Saturday Weigh In

Reread the 'really inappropriate weird question...' thread. That'll rev ya up to drink!!! :-)
  2. Hi! I wouldn't go back to ALL liquids. At 10 days out I was still drinking 2-3 protein shakes, and didn't rely on my food for protein. At this point you want to make sure that you don't get dehydrated and that you do get in your protein. How you do it really depends on you and your new tummy. :-)
  3. There have been several posts recently about emotional eaters so I thought I'd post a different spin. I am a lazy eater. And when I'm stressed I DON'T eat. It's like I am punishing myself; yes, it's a kickback from being sent to bed w/o dinner for some perceived behavior as a child from my abusive parents. So food has never been a comfort for me, but a necessity. In a twist, I still abused eating as an adult because I'd grab what was handy and easy, which usually translated to junk food. I didn't feel like I deserved good food. And...let's face it, it's easier & faster to slurp down a bowl of mac n' cheese than bother with a steak & broccoli. I was sleeved 8/21 and have been doing remarkably well. Except this week. I just noticed this morning that I am slipping back into my old habits. I'm relying on readymade Protein Drinks and Atkins bars. Sure, I'm under my calorie intake and getting Protein, but it sure isn't healthy! Pre-sleeve I don't think I would have caught myself slipping back to my unhealthy habits. I noticed it because I faithfully log into MFP and review my food. I have discovered that I must have easy foods like cooked shrimp at my fingertips or I just won't bother to eat. And my metabolism is so screwed up that my body holds on to everything it can when I don't eat. And I don't lose weight. So food addictions/issues has many, many faces and I'm glad here on VST we can share & help each other.
  4. And what you are feeling is normal. I think most of us here had the 'oh s**t!' feelings at the last minute. But just think how sexy you're gonna look in a few months!
  5. Deep breaths!!! You'll be fine!!! This will be all behind you in a flash and your new life will start. Hugs!!

    :-( struggling

It's normal, but that doesn't make things easier for you. Just try to take things one day at a time. Soon it will be a distant memory and your life will become amazing. Two suggestions for now: stop watching TV. Or if you have a DVR, record shows and zap thru the commercials. Those were killer for me to watch after post-op!!! And really try to keep up your fluids. Play around w many diff tastes and temperatures. I ended up being able to handle lukewarm chicken bullion. I drank lots of it, something I always disliked pre-op. it is really, REALLY important to keep your fluids up. One more thing: as your body releases fat cells, hormones that have been stuck in your body will also be released. So don't be surprised if your emotions are all over the place. For me, it was like i had major PMS for an entire month. And oftentimes your skin will break out with crazy pimples. It will pass, but it's hard to deal with when it's happening. Gentle hugs.....things will get better.
  9. If you had done as much research as you say, then you'd realize that your statement 'i am nervous....sleeve is bigger than i want' couldn't be very realistic. And you'd also realize that that comment/question is asked a lot on here. You probably are an intelligent person. I am one too. And even I had a weak moment a week or so after surgery and asked questions that i knew the answer to just because i needed reassurance. The whole sleeve experience can be surreal. Then you asked for 'any advice.' That was a blanket request for advice, which Butter gave you. And then you got upset when he gave you straightforward advice. That's not very fair, IMHO. Many of us are just trying to help newbies and answer questions as best we can according to our experiences. If Butters 'get off the ledge' offended you, then just ignore that and take the healthy advice that he gave you. However, many of us here know Butter's style and that's how he writes, with a little humor injected throughout his posts. His supportive advice is posted all over this forum and I for one am glad that he has stuck around to help us.

    Just curious....

That was me too. Never dawned on me to have a last meal. And like someone else said, we don't need to because we can still eat normal foods, just not as much.

33 BMI and scheduled for VG...

My answer isn't going to be the popular one.....I personally would not have the surgery. Recently there have been people with horrific outcomes. Probably because the surgery is becoming more popular, so stats go higher. There is no guarantee that everything will go ok, there just isn't. I needed to lose 100 pounds and had severe health issues. The weight was making my health worse and it was a Catch-22. I was ok with knowing that things could go wrong because my life sucked pre-surgery. But please know that I don't walk in your shoes. Nobody does but you. It could be life changing for you, and if you decide to have the surgery, then I hope it is. Just make sure you weigh all the pros and cons beforehand.
  12. That's exactly what I mean, Delta_girl! It takes a lot of effort to eat well. And i have a hard time getting motivated!
  13. For me, i've learned to stock my frig full of easy foods and when I do cook, I make plenty for leftovers. I try to cook salmon a few times a week and have that handy. And I buy shrimp trays from Costco, now that my sleeve can handle shrimp. I've tried to make up tuna salad and have that handy, but i don't seem to enjoy it postop. I do need more ideas for easy foods. Getting tired of shrimp & salmon.

Is it Possible to Lose too Quickly?

It also depends on how much you have to lose. But I was told by my doc yesterday that losing 1-2 pounds a week like I am is very healthy, FOR ME. Everyone is different. I've got a whacky immune system and the fear is if I lose too quickly it will get even more whacked out. So, once again, the answer lies with the individual person. I know- so frustrating!!

    Hair loss

It's a very odd feeling, isn't it? I lost a LOT!! But i had thick hair and I lost it all over so it wasn't really noticeable. But, I felt that it looked unhealthy & straggly so I chopped it all off and now it looks great.
  16. But are they the 'right' kind of protein shots that we can digest/absorb?

    THATS not self control!

Four donuts one time isn't going to sabotage you to the point of no return. Take a deep breath. Walk around. You understood what you did wrong and that's huge. Hugs to you & your aunt.

    Immune System in Remission!

I know!!! You & I have discussed being slow. Well, now I am proud to be slow!!! He's given me a year to get to goal weight. I can do that!!!!
  19. I went for my checkup today and got overwhelming good news. Doc said I have been losing weight at the perfect rate, averaging 2 pounds a week. He said that is the healthiest way to lose weight and keep it off. Not only am I 54 pounds down and only have about 40 pounds left to lose, but all blood work points to my crazy immune system being stable with no drugs!! I'm overwhelmed & in shock!! Happy shock.
