I have also heard (found) that if PB-ing is involved, I need to stay on liquids even a little longer to allow for healing, but a call to the Dr's office is always a great idea.

My comment would be that this is rather high in fat (cholesterol). While everyone is different, I would recommend cutting your higher fat protein (sausage & Cheese) in half and replacing that volume with some healthy veggies and fruits. - -
I take Centrum chewables...

What is your current fill in your 4cc band?
Johnsonlin replied to Paulax's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yes, I have heard asparagus as well. I know there are a few people on this site who are successful with asparagus because they love it so much. I have a problem with salmon - too dry!!!! I think most problems come from the moisture content of the food. I wonder if the people who can not eat steak order well done? I order Med. Rare and am able to eat steak if I cut it VERY thin and chew well!!! -

I have heard lettuce can be a big problem. I heard this from several different sources. I, myself, can eat a bite or 2, but after reading your post - I think I will refrain. I ate a garden fresh tomato on Sunday. I had to cut the skin off, but really enjoyed the part I ate. I believe it is probably the fibrous consistency of the lettuce that is problematic (like the skin of the tomato) so I say try the tomato - carefully when you are fully healed and ready... -

Sula - I agree! I wonder if the reason people don't comment more is that, in my case, I have lost lots of pounds more than once.... about the time they comment I was already on the road to those pounds finding me again. Many of the people I work with have seen the cycle more than once so I think they'll wait, and watch... just to make sure they should comment.

???

Our health is the priority. 'luvmyiggy' good luck with your jitters! I know all will be well and you will feel much better as you sucessfully clear each little obstacle along the way.

Have a great day, all.

Strong Negative Emotional Reaction to Band
Johnsonlin replied to ConSafo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hugs to you! I was approved by my insurance company a year before I actually had the surgery. I felt that (1) the organization I was dealing with cared more about maximizing profits that they did about me and (2) if I were meant to have a plastic appliance around my internal organs God would have put one there. I changed my mind when I learned that a surgeon I trusted who had removed my thyroid about 6 years ago was doing band surgery. I also learned about the addictive additives that food companies put in our processed foods that cause us to eat non-stop without satisfaction (High fructose corn syrup)!!! Just like nicotine for the smokers - that doesn't give us a chance. If you have not watched the movie 'Super-size me' you might want to do that. It is available at most any video rental and is in the special documentary section. It caused me more shame over being drawn in to the marketing ploy of the fast food industry and I am so happy I now have this aid (band) to help me 'fight back' by not supporting those companies!!! I hope you can find peace with yourself and be proud that you can take control instead of being a victim to the fast food and processed food industry. Best of luck to you. BTW - do you have a patient advocate/counselor available? Did your process require a Psych eval? Mine did. It would be a great idea for you to talk with a professional counselor to help you put this all in perspective... Blessings and best wishes! -
Call your Dr's office this AM! Cheese is not always band friendly - It tends to glob and stick. Have you tried broth or perhaps yogurt to get some protein in. Also remember that in this type of situation - a liquid protein shake might be a good idea.

Sounds like you have the best approach possible. Good luck. Each day will be better by large margins. Take care of yourself. -
CONGRATS!!! Burn this feeling into your brain! That way you'll be able to use it (as well as this forum) for support if you get a disappointment or two along this path!

You should NOT be 'pain' - you will be a little tender and perhaps even moving a little slowly, but should not be in pain by then... -
Surgery on 4/16.... Nervous!!

Karen, I'm with you!!! I do NOT handle 'recovery room' well. That being said, it was no worse that any other I have experienced. My surgery ended up being late in the day due to some emergency auto accident surgeries that bumped mine out, so I pretty much stayed a little groggy and slept. All will be fine! Good luck! (My surgery was 3/26/2007 - down 27 so far)
