Where did you find chia seeds? I can't find them. -
How do you calculate post-op weight loss?
want2live replied to ChrisJ's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Chris! Our numbers are almost exactly the same! What day was your surgery? And I am also counting from my very first appointment. Every ounce counts!!!! -
So I am 9 days post op and all of a sudden today i can take much bigger sips of water. No gulping if course....an not like the pre sleeve days....but an obvious difference from this last week. I am nervous that this is a sign my sleeve is bigger than i want. Any advice?

Bigger sips today...concerned
want2live replied to want2live's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok. First. I didn't lash out at Butterbeans advice. I was upset at the snide remarks that he made that had nothing to do with the question. Second. So....from your stand point if a question is repeated then the person asking must be an idiot or didnt do any research. Do you not think that maybe a newbie hasn't seen the question asked, or immediately after surgery is more hypersensitive to every little thing they are going through and just needs some reassurance? Third...I thanked butterbean 3 DAYS AGO for all the advice he gives and ASKED FOR THIS THREAD TO STOP because it was getting out of hand. Please stay out of what should have been dropped days ago. -

Interesting that the original question was simply was it normal to be able to take slightly larger sips at a week out. That's it. Nothing about nutrition or a bad sleeve or what will happen 3-6-9 moths from now. Nothing about measuring or this being a tool or anything like that. Just is it normal? I got my answer. Thanks to those with great advice and experience. Lets drop this thread now please. -

I guess where I am from support and information doesn't have to include snide remarks. -

I certainly didn't mean to stir up anything. I do appreciate anyone's advice. But there is a big difference between not sugar coating health advice and taking a direct dig at someone in a very sarcastic, mean spirited way for something they said that they were doing to better themselves. I feel there is no need or room or that on this forum. Yes....butterbean.....keep you advice hear for all to benefit from.....but please keep the snide remarks to yourself. Please remember many of us (especially new sleevers) haven't gotten over our self esteem issues as you may have and we take anything said personally to heart. Thanks. -

I very simply asked if it was normal to start to be able to take larger sips as the days go by. That's it. I didn't ask if I should eat crap or stuff myself (I am still on liquids for heaven sake) or a plateful of anything. I was asking people who have been through this for their experience so I can feel a little better and reassured about my progress. -

I am not really sure what to say. I will certainly not be asking any more questions or for advice on this site. It is not worth it to be spoken to like this. I do wish everyone so much luck and great success on there journeys. -
Hi all. So I am 10 days out and he had a really great recovery....and been really happy everyday to be on this side I things. I got the most in yesterday (60 grams of Protein and about 50 ounces of water) but today I feel so bloated and like my stomach is as big as ever. It is so discouraging. Anyone else have this some days?
-
I am so ready to be past recovery and just lose lose losing!!!
-
Yes!!! You also!!!
-
It is so confusing...I know. Sounds like you are doing great. Just know that even though it doesn't make sense or seem like it now....each day you can get more and more in. I have to be so careful to alway have a bottle of water with me all day!!!!!
-
No problem. I am using the protein shakes from Costco. They are 11 ounces and have 30 grams of protein. For the dirt few days I could only drink 1 and it took all day. Then I moved to 1 1/2 and yesterday for the first time I drank 2. Yesterday was the first day I got so much in both proteins and water. It DOES get easier everyday!

I do not believe I am on " the edge" of anything. I am a very educated, extremely smart person who researched the heck out of this before going through surgery. I am following the guidelines given to me by my doctor to the absolute T. I am not bloating myself or using my sleeve as a " crutch" for anything. I am, in fact, still in liquids so there really is not muh to fowl up. It is pretty simple and straight forward. I simply asked a question about how something should feel or be at this point in my recovery. All the research in the world does not take the place of hearing from supporters (or people who are suppose to be supporters) that have been here and can just let me me know that something is normal or that I am on the right track. For everyone that replied with something helpful....thank you. -

Getting sleeved Gangnam Style!
want2live replied to Scubagecko's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Dave! You have an amazing story...and a great spirit!! I am also 36 and a single mother of a rediculously awesome 5 year old little girl......which is exactly why I had my sleeve done last Tuesday (12/4). She is my world and I want so badly to be a better example for her. I know this is my answer and I can't tell you how excited I am to be past the surgery and in this part of the journey. I have also made sure not to be in pictures for years and now I am sick of that. I can't wait to have a picture of the two of us out in our house that I truly love. This site has been an amazing source of information and encouragement and h am so happy and proud for you and your family. Please let us know what we can do to help as you prepare for the big day. I believe my recovery has gone so smoothly because I had so much information and was soooo ready! Congrats and soon we will both be chatting about our losses!!!! -

Thank you all! Yes.....I am getting Protein through shakes as I am still on all liquids. I always wondered if any liquid counted.....so if that is the case I am getting a total of about 60 ounces a day. I will certainly continue to increase Water everyday. Thanks again to everyone for taking the time to reply. This site is such a blessing! -

I am 8 days post op and doing really good (at least I think). I am getting 60grams of protein a day and about 40 ounces of water (working on that) and maybe 4-5 spoons of broth. So.....when I see others who have lost 15-20 pounds the first week I am so happy for them....but disappointed in me. I have only lost 7 pounds since surgery (20 pounds including pre op diet)....am I doing something wrong? -
I don't know how to feel.....
want2live replied to Belledebayou's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with everyone! It must be hard for a significant other to get this one right. They are damned if they do and damned if they don't. My fiancé has said from the beginning that he loves me the exact same no matter what.....but he certainly also recognized that I am NOT A HAPPY PERSON. He has said over and over that he just want me happy and healthy.....and that MY decision for WLS is supported fully. Now I live him even more for saying all the right things pre-op but now that I am post op (only 8 days).....of course I want him to notice the changes and be happy and excited WITH me. -

Thank you Robbies Girl!!! Just what I wanted to hear. Thanks for your advice too butterbean! The 4-5 spoons (and I am talking my 5 yr olds child spoons) of broth are a needed break once a day from Water and chocolate Protein shake!!!! -

The Five Biggist Changes Since My Surgery Are.......
want2live replied to mendymayhem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is a great post! Yay for you and your family. I am only 8 days out.....and can't wait for some of these fantastic things to start happening!! I am still afraid this will be one more thing that doesn't work for me. -
I am one week out today (sleeved 12/4) and I am feeling and doing great. Most gas pain has subsided and incision sites are also feeling much better. I can certainly tell each day I feel better and better. I just wanted some feedback a to if what I am getting in each day sounds right. I am still on all liquids so this is it.....2 protein shakes ( total 60 grams of protein) and 32- 45 ounces of water (I am trying y best to increase this each day) and maybe 5-7 baby spoons of broth. Sound right????

I am with you 100%, Dean!! This is my issue and my journey. The world doesn't stop revolving or eating and the simple fact is that I am the one that has to do the changing and hard work now....no one else. My family has been amazingly supportive and all week ( I am 7 days post op) has apologized for eating in front of me...to which I have replied....please don't be silly, eat....it's supper time!!!! That is actually one of the main reasons I chose WLS....so I could handle these situations better and not have to be in a perpetual diet. It is very different right now while I am on full liquids but I know this will not last forever and then I can be back to eating like everyone else....just a lot less and a lot healthier. We happen to be addicted to something that is my illegal, something that is all around us all the time and something that we can't give up altogether.....but this is our chance to learn how to deal with all of that. Even at the food court!!!!
