PerfectlyImperfect replied to Pinky Green's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No you made a very broad statement on anyone who has so much as a drink. And it's not illegal everywhere. -

I couldn't DISagree more. If you are doing these EVERYDAY then yes. But if it's occasionally no. I drink once a year at a Christmas party. And I drink to get drunk. So based on your theory I am an alcoholic by getting drunk once a year. Best head off here and google my nearest AA meeting. -

PerfectlyImperfect replied to Vidalia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's considered liquid. I usually waited 15 just because I felt "full" after. -

I do not use drugs in any form...I'm just not that person. However I was reading the discussion and wanted to say there is no proven fact marijuana does or does not kill brain cells. I have my BA in medical science, one of my main studies has been chromosone research. One of the last studies I did was the effects drugs have on your body and brain. With that said.... Marijuana's active ingredient is THC (much longer name I wouldnt be able to spell out using my iphone keypad). THC is what makes you "high" it will bind with certain receptors in your brain and interferes with normal brain function. Thus the feeling you/some get of being off balance, sleeping, hungry etc etc. However THC does become inactive. It does not "kill" brain cells. It temporarily alters them. If you (you being a blanketed term) did full research you would know the entire idea of "killing brain cells" started with a compaign to end teen drug use. It did not start in the medical field. I'd also like to say Pinky's ex husband didnt sit on his behind smoking all day because of weed, he did so because he was lazy. In the end its your body and you can do as you see fit with it. -

Caffeine and full exercise at 6 weeks (by caffeine I mean coffee). I don't smoke anything so never thought to ask. I can have a alcohol as well but haven't tried. I'll probably have my first drink later on December at my work Xmas party. -
That hostess won't be around for long? Lol. I LOVE their orange cupcakes. One of my biggest down falls in my pre sleeve days. Every time I walk past them in the store, I cry a little inside. Now they won't be tempting me from the shelf much longer. Those pesky, yet oh so yummy treats. ....I do however feel terrible for all of the people who will lose their jobs and pray they will find something quickly.

Cold Meds?
PerfectlyImperfect replied to joyful noise's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told I could take cold medicine in the liquid form when I got sick at 5 weeks out. Well never again and when I saw my dr I told him he's lucky I didn't punch him lol. It burned so bad. I took liquid cold and flu by Tylenol. I switched to Tylenol cold and flu in pill form. I know there are some company's that make the meds that have dissolvable strips but couldn't tell you who. Good luck. Hope you feel better soon -
Popcorn is allowed by my dr and nut within moderation. I don't eat it though because I don't like it. I'd ask your dr what his thoughts are

Everywhere I Look....
PerfectlyImperfect replied to Jay N's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hated this. It felt like every commercial was good and every show I watched they were eating. I had to turn the tv off for about a week and just read because it was Driving me crazy. It will pass and remember you will be able to eat again. -
Bad Breath?!
PerfectlyImperfect replied to Christina760's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's what I do with co workers. But most of them are so clingy and won't move back. Lol. I am always popping altoids and that works wonders -
Mine are still noticeable. I put cream on them everyday. It took my scares from my gall bladder removal a couple months to fade. Now you can't see them unless you search. And my c section scar is barely there.

Fatty Liver/spleen
PerfectlyImperfect replied to steelergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Fatty liver is normal when you are overweight. As you lose that will go away. My spleen was removed so I'm not sure about that. -
Did You Bruise?

Not at my incision sites but all over the rest of me. I looked like I was in a really bad fight. Lol -
Bad Breath?!
PerfectlyImperfect replied to Christina760's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I experience the same thing. Almost 7 weeks out and still dealing. I have a little travel kit in my purse (tooth brush, tooth paste and mouthwash). I use it at work 3 times a day at least. Thankfully I work on the phones so I don't have to deal with my customers face to face. Can't wait till this goes away. And I ask my doc. He said your stomach was cut and is healing, that in itself will cause a smell. -
Strech Stomach
PerfectlyImperfect replied to yashi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your stomach can and will stretch. It's a muscle. However it wouldn't happen over a short time of a vacation. You gained weight from bad food choices not from stomach size. -
Who Were You Before Vsg?
PerfectlyImperfect replied to happyfam's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mentally I'm still the same. I want to eat but I can't eat. Emotionally also the same and it's worse by not being able to when I want. BUT then I remember the nearly 50 lbs I've lost in 6 1/2 weeks. And the clothes I'll be able to buy, the more time I will be able to run around with my daughter I am the same person just with a smaller stomach. I will be starting therapy for my food issues amongst other things next week. -
