Depends on the person. My bestie is about 11 months out and still losing. Not RAPIDLY like in the first few months but it's tricking down to about 8lbs a month.

I lost 60 lbs. in the first three months, but now it has slowed down. I'm still losing, but much slower. Now that I can eat regular foods, and not only liquids/protein shakes, I believe my body is just adjusting. Just keep making good choices, and it will come off. I don't mind slow, as long as I keep dropping!

The program binder my surgeon gave me says up to 18 months of loss.
There are probably a ton of factors that play in to this, many of which are personal choices and behavioral adjustments.
At slightly over 3 months out I've dropped 1/2 of my weight, which has had a roller coaster pattern.I don't have perfect plan fidelity and need to get myself back on track while the irons are hot. The holidays could be used as an excuse, or the weather, or probably any other number of rationales, My exercise habits have gotten really sloppy and I know I'm not getting in appropriate Protein since I am no longer on shakes.
ShannonK has a good point about skin tightening up. There are so many things going on with your body during this time and we really do have some extreme expectations of it. Our metabolism is adjusting, our skin is adapting, our hair is in crisis, etc.
Those of us who are in the range of 6 months may not want to hear about things slowing down, think about simply sustaining life. Of course you need fewer calories the closer you get to goal, and the slower your loss, but your body wants to survive and if it keeps up that fast loss momentum you would be in the hospital for too much weight loss! (There are some realllly scary anorexia nervosa videos on Youtube).

Yup, just like many of the above stated. I lost most of my weight within the first six months. Definitely take advantage of this time. After the six month mark ur stomach can hold more food. It seems like I could eat more dense Protein than I could earlier. The weight loss also started crawling when I got within 15 pounds or so to goal.

If you keep your food intake just as low as in the first few months then you will continue to lose just not as quickly. The problem is around the 6 month mark most of us can eat more so the weightloss slows. You can do it. It will just take more work and discipline than the first 6 months.

There is nothing biologically to stop any of us from continuing to lose as long as we want to, but it certainly will get harder. As you get lighter, you basal metabolic rate will slow down, meaning you burn less calories per day. At the same time, your ability to eat increases. Those 2 things acting together will certainly stop weight loss in its tracks. When that happens, smart food choices and exercise will be the thing that saves you and keeps the fat fires burning. At 8 months I'm still losing 10 pounds a month. I can live with that. It's not as good as the 40 I lost in the first month, but that was to be expected.

My experience is, ABSOLUTLY.
Most people lose 1/2 of what they are going to in the first 6 months then 1/4 over the 2nd 6 months then 1/4 over the 2nd year.
Keep in mind that is just a rule of thumb. Your personal choices & habits will have a bigger effect on your journey than anything else.

I think it all depends on how much you have to lose, and how you stick to the new healthy life style change! If you eat a ton of junk and carbs yes it will slow, it also slows the closer you are to goal.
The problem with the graphs they show us is that around 6 months people get tired of eating strictly healthy and they start adding the crap back in and sometimes over do it, so as long as you are aware of what you put in your mouth, and that it can affect you then you should be fine!

Thanks all! While I appreciate the input, I would like to caution some of you on your tone. If I am needing "help" please offer a suggestion of who/where. If you can't fathom a fat chick making a fat chick choice lol **shrugs** If you can't relate to a mistep and have no encouragement...please keep it moving. I don't need anyone being condesending (not to be confused with being honest/telling it like it is). I talked to my doctor about my spoonful and he assured me that I would be fine and that ALLOT of people slip (if they want to admit it to others or even themselves). I also understand that there are those that NEVER mistep **round of applause** Anywho, I've been back on track the past couple of days. Again, thank you for the support. In the event I mess up again...I'll be back to confess it.

stellabug321 reacted to fluffylibra30 in Is a month and half stall normal!
I was stalled for 6 weeks then increased my calories, went to a gallon of Water a day and raised my carbs for a week. I lost 4 the next week and 3 the Next. My body was in starvation mode and was holding onto everything. You might need an increase

stellabug321 got a reaction from Earwood in Help- Hair Is Falling Out
I started loosing my hair at the 3 month mark I am now 5 months out as of Monday! Honestly I didn't use Vitamins or Biotin, I used a Shampoo called nioxin, I have really fine hair and just this last week I've notice it falling out less!
They say the good quality shampoo helps with not leaving a greasy film on your hair and it lasts a long time, I use it everyday and don't think I will change, before when I used Pantene or stuff like that I had to change shampoos every 2 weeks, so my hair didn't feel greasy, I have used Nioxin for 2 months straight and haven't had a problem with it! You can find it at a salon or a salon outlet store!
It might be something to try, I'm dreading seeing my hair dresser next week, I can't wait for it to come in, hope it does soon:)
Hope you find something that works!

stellabug321 got a reaction from xavtay2 in 5 Months Out, From June Till Now!
Needing some inspiration today! I feel horrible, I've gained 5lbs... I've been in physio for the last month as I was in a work accident before my weight loss journey began.. I've been here for a month doing physio 5 days a week and only get to get home on the weekends! They only thing I've noticed besides the weight gain is I have bicep that I've never seen before!
I live in a hotel for the week and go home the weekends, I try and eat as healthy as I can I buy a roasted chicken and the bagged salad, I know not the greatest but at least it's better then restaurant food!
I also have a smoothie for Breakfast everyday I'm here, 1 cup frozen mixed berries, 100 calorie single serving of Greek yogurt, a scoop of body by vi and a scoop whey Protein Powder and water!
I indulge in some chocolate everyone and then nothing over the top now, and just recently started drinking tea and hot chocolate for a sweet fix!
I don't eat potatoes, Pasta or bread! I do how ever eat long grain rice 2 tbs at the most very rare though!
Is Water seriously the issue here? I think I've answered my own question I think I only get about 1800 mls a day and obviously that is not enough!
Any advice any help would be appreciated as I don't want this to be it the 250"s my goal is too loses anywhere to 80-110 more pounds!
Thanks guys... I go home Friday for good and start slowly back to work as a nurse, agh so stressed????

That is awesome....I just made 4 months out and I am down 54 lbs depending on what day it is....lol I hoping to lose about 20 more lbs by New Years Eve. Which will make a total of 75 lbs at my fifth month. I too have loose skin but can't afford the gym membership so I guess taebo will be my friend for the next 90 days.

I think those that lose 100 lbs in 5 months are over 350 lbs. You tend to lose more the heavier your are. 10 lbs a month is considered very sucessful. You are doing great!! Everyone is too hard on themselves!! Everyone here seems to be doing amazing. You are my motivation

stellabug321 reacted to swizzly in Was In A Car Accident, On Friday And My Stomach Is Not Happy!
I had an accident like that pre-surgery, with all the soft tissue injuries in the abdomen. Even with a normal stomach I felt sick and had a hard time eating for a little while, so I would say it's just a matter of time and taking it very easy. Glad you didn't get worse injuries, hope you feel better quickly!
