Hi HarleyNana, i couldnt get banded in the UK with such a 'low' bmi but i am obese although not morbidly obese. i inevitably get fatter each year and knew that it would take a few more miserable years to get near to 40 bmi and thus qualify for the surgery here in the UK. i was not prepared to wait for that to happen and found a surgeon abroad that was willing to band me now before i got mobidly obese and believe that's where i would have ended up eventually.

    Crystal Light drinks

oops, sorry i forgot the link! Crystal Light On The Go Packets sugar free variety pack on eBay shakes drinks, Dieting Slimming, Health Beauty
  7. just thought i would share this. in the main forum the americans keep talking/raving about 'crystal light' drinks which are not available in the uk but i have found a resonably priced seller on ebay and have ordered a sample pack of 11 sachets (1 of each flavour) for £2.50 + £2p&p. from what i've read on lapbandtalk i think it's a flavoured Protein powder that you add to Water.

    Just Banded

Welcome to Bandland i wish i could say i have no apetite like you!! i've been starving but i think half of it is cos i'm bored sitting around 'recovering' it makes the day seem so long.

    In pain

awww, you poor thing - i know exactly what you're talking about though! i am only 4 days post-op but already feel so much better than at 2 days post. give it time it does ease off each day.
  12. hi Rain, i had surgery the day after you (11 july) and suffered terrible tummy and shoulder pain but the lady in the bed next to me was absolutley fine! i suppose it's a very individual thing, but the gas seems very reluctant to leave my abdomen! and that's probably what is causing the pressure on your chest but it is early days and we must be patient (even though every day feels like a week!) i wonder if you may have eaten your soup too fast if you keep burping it up?

    Too soon...? HELP PLEASE

i am still in my 1st week post-op and it says on my diet sheet that i can have cream soup as long as its strained first so i had some lovely fresh carrot soup Carrot & Coriander i put it through a metal strainer first and measured out 200mls i watered it down a tiny bit but it seemed to get thinner when it was heated. that was about 2.5hrs ago and i've had no problems.

    Really scared

hi soaf9 ive just been banded and i had a carb blow out all week before the operation although i was not instructed to do a pre-op diet. my starting bmi was quite low (33) so that might be why. anyway they did the op without any problems despite the nice ultrasound lady saying that i had 'a big fatty liver' . in my humble opinion considering your low starting bmi i don't think you should worry too much about the pre-op diet.. but when you';ve got the band fitted there is NOWAY you will be able to cheat the diet and believe me you will not 'cheat' for fear of doing some serious harm
