  1. Hey guys! I am a stay at home mom and am pre-op with a surgery date hopefully for December (I have 3 months mandatory medically supervised weight loss for my insurance to do). I know the hardest part of this process will be to not constantly snack while at home. I normally mindlessly eat during the day, especially when my son is taking his nap. I'm hoping to start feeling better about myself after WLS and have more energy so I can join a gym and maybe take a zumba class! So anyone else have this with being in the house all day? What other struggles do you have as a stay at home mom?

    Other mommies...

I had the same worries. I was sleeved on February 5 and it went so amazingly well that the nurse thought I was a visitor on the second day. I was up dressed and walking around. Don't read the complication stories too much on the threads, they will just worry you more. For me, my little boy is 2 and I was already staying home from things because I was worried about my size. My kid missed out on hay rides, horse rides, sports things, all because I was worried about myself. So that was my motivator. I WILL take my kid to Disney and fit with him on the ride. He won't miss out because of me. And only 5 weeks out I'm already chasing him all over the house and way more able to keep up. Find a goal (like going up Disney) and focus on that when you get nervous. This has been the best decision of my life! No regrets at all!
  3. Hey guys! I also had Dr Foote. He's awesome. I am almost two weeks post-op and wondering, what does GHP have you move onto after protein shakes? At your two week appointment after surgery what were you allowed to add to your diet?
  4. Hello! Anyone get pregnant after the surgery? Anyone have any complications with getting pregnant after? And if you did get pregnant, how long did it take? How did your diet look? What's different than a pregnancy without being sleeved? Thanks for your answers!
  5. Also did everyone who got pregnant after surgery still lose weight after the baby was born? Is it possible to get to goal weight if you have a baby after surgery but not before goal weight? Thanks!

    Question About Approvals

I'm not sure because I'm just starting, but I have Cigna too. So if you could keep updating on how your approval process is going I would really apperciate it! Good luck and I hope everything goes well and quickly for you!
  7. Tomorrow I meet with my family practicioner to talk about a 3 month weight loss plan that will make my health insurance happy so I can have the surgery. I'm kinda scared that the dr will just say to me "well have you thought about diet and exercise?" I'm kind of expecting that answer from him because he seems the type. The problem is that I need his recommendation for my insurance to approve the surgery. Has anyone else had a problem with their doctor being less than supportive about WLS? What have you done about it? Has anyone had to switch doctors because of this problem?
  8. So I'm definitely considering sleeve surgery, enough that I have signed up with an account and started a blog. But things strike me as I think out this process and I'm wondering if anyone else has felt/thought the same things I am feeling/thinking. Tomorrow I meet with my family practicioner doctor to talk about a 3 month weight loss plan that will make my health insurance happy so I can have the surgery. Also I am thinking about who I would tell if I did get surgery. My husband also struggles and would probably have the surgery at some point as well, so he's very supportive as I am the guinea pig he's eagerly watching. However I have had friends and family who I know are not going to be supportive. Like our marathon running friends who recommended to me and my hubby that we "walk around the block two times a night every night to lose weight". I just keep thinking that if I was anorexic nobody would tell me to "just eat". Everyone knows it's a lot harder than that. So why do people tell me to "just stop eating" when I'm overweight? Crazy. So let's see how tomorrow goes. Wish me luck that my doctor will be understanding and supportive of what I want to do or I might be looking for another one. Hopefully if all goes well I'll be looking at surgery sometime in December. Just in time for a New Years resolution and new body! :-)

Coming To Terms With The Idea Of Wls

Thanks Mokee! I am super excited because I talked to my primary doctor today and he was very supportive of WLS. He actually said the sleeve surgery is so low risk and high reward that he thinks it will be the most recommended WLS out there! So that was reassuring! I also told my mom of my plans and she was totally supportive too! So I am one step closer to actually doing this surgery! Scary, but waaayy exciting too! :-) Where are you in the process?
  10. Thanks guys for all the replies! I met with my doctor today and he was AWESOME!!! I was shocked that he was so open to the idea of me getting WLS. He even said he'd write a letter to my insurance today if it would help! He said that the sleeve surgery was still considered "new" to many doctors but he thinks it will end up being the most recommended WLS out there because of the low risk and high results! So that was very reassuring. I also told my mom today of my plans and she was SUPER supportive! I am one happy fat girl! LOL! Looks like I am on my way to actually getting this done! Scary, but exciting too! Thanks again for all the replies! It's nice to know I have a team here I can talk to who has actually been thru it!
  11. Hey guys! I'm not sleeved yet, but I'm wondering what the diet looks like immediately after and then long after the surgery? My family gets together twice a month for meals and to catch up and I know already if I don't eat they're all going to question me. Since they are very negative I don't want to say I'm getting WLS. One of my family members is anorexic and less than 100 lbs and no one says a word about it (I've tried...I get nowhere). Yet I'm waaaayyy judged for being fat. Guess it's more sociably acceptable to be veeerrrry skinny instead of fat. :-) Oh well. So what do you eat, and what do you say to people when they question you about your post/pre diet?

    Michigan Sleevers

Hey guys! I am not sleeved, but talking to Grand Health Partners about it. I need 3 months of weight loss program per my insurance so I wouldn't get surgery until December. Everyone have good experiences with GHP? Think I can start going to the groups even though I haven't done surgery?
