Shakes

I'm 6 months out and still can't stomach shakes that well, I can only get down about half of an 8pz shake before my throat resists to let me swallow. Maybe because there's so much Protein in it? I don't know, has anyone else encountered this? Any neat ideas to get in more protein? P.S I can't have eggs, they make me sick, so they're not an option.

Thank you!

Shakes

Yes I try to fit in a shake for breakfast and get protein from food the rest of the day. I eat a lot of chicken but would like more options. I wonder if green beans would be a good idea too.

Any one who has NOT lost hair?

I started losing hair around 3 months, and 6 months out I'm still losing.

Surprised

I know I've been in a stall for 2 weeks and it finally broke yesterday, now I have a about 29lbs to go, maybe more depending on what I look like when I reach that point.
6. I had a dilaudid pump in the hospital but I stopped using it the last 12hrs I was there. They sent me home with a whole bottle of dilaudid pills but I didn't touch them once. I was lucky and didn't need them.
7. Everyone loses differently, 10lbs in 2 weeks is excellent. Think about it, someone without a sleeve would maybe lose a pound or two in a week, you've lost 5 in a week. Honestly it's the portion sizes, I can't eat more than 2oz at a time so it has helped me a lot. That and I am very well hydrated, that seems to help.
8. Oh you sound just like me my first month. All of your hormones are wacky and your emotions will be a hot mess for awhile. I was so depressed and cried all the time, I regreted my decision and hated myself. But 6 months later and 91lbs down, I love what I did and I feel absoo amazing. I feel normal again, the only difference is that I can't eat as much as I used to. No more high blood pressure, no longer pre-diabetic, my levels are fine, best decision ever. You'll start feeling better soon. Here's a little inspiration

Alcohol

I decided pre-op to give it up completely. Not only does it make me feel horrible the next morning, it's not worth hurting my sleeve. My surgeon told me that over time, if consumes too much, it can burn a hole through your sleeve and cause ulcers. I'd rather not go through that.

Sleeping issues

Six months out here and I too have trouble sleeping, I won't fall asleep until almost 5/6am and end up sleeping until the afternoon. I just lay in bed all night tossing and turning.

Cheeseburgers?

I'll admit that I indulge every once in awhile, but I won't say screw it and eat like crap all day, I'll just enjoy that one thing and eat right the rest of the day. If we were to stay away from everything we loved pre-op completely, it would make us miserable. The sleeve is a tool, and we all chose it so that we can make healthier choices while eating much smaller portions of the things we love in moderation. I'll even admit that I had a few bites of a big mac today, that just means I'll work harder tomorrow. Every now and then it's not a bad thing to do, we're human and to enjoy yummy stuff every now and then won't throw us completely off track, you just have to be strong and not make it a habit. We all used to be fat at one point, and we all know what it feels like to be lectured and spoken to by skinnies who frown on us, so don't be like those people. We are all here for the same reason. Back to the topic, when I have burgers, I'll use lean ground meat with real white american cheese, onions, and no bun, it's delicious

Surprised

Once you get close to 200 you're going to get so excited, I loved the fact that I was no longer close to 300

I know what you mean. I'm a CNA and every time I sat down to eat, a bell would go off and I was really busy.

Surprised

Yes I'm glad I atleast know.
19. KarissaKhaos

Surprised

Yeah it's odd, if I get over 1000 calories a day I'll drop weight, but if I eat less than 1000 my body holds onto the weight.

Surprised

Not exercising right now because it's too cold out, but as soon as it gets warmer I'm going to walk every day.

Anyone from Rochester, NY?

I've had the surgery already but I am in Hudson Valley NY. I go to Rochester every year though

Can you chew sugar free gum?

It hasn't caused any gas for me either, even if it did I'd just burp because it's a necessity for me. If I don't chew gum while running on air I breathe heavier and waste and the air goes quicker.

Can you chew sugar free gum?

I guess I'll be extra careful not to swallow it then because I need it
24. KarissaKhaos

Call me Alice please!

Awesome congratulations! I was so excited when I hit ONEderland, even more excited when I dropped below 180! Keep going!
25. My sense of smell never changed but my taste buds sure did. Things I used to love before surgery, now taste disgusting to me, which disappoints me at times because I'd love a bologna sandwich every once in awhile lol.
