New Year, New Start Challenge- OFFICIAL thread
Eat That Frog replied to mi75's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Happy New Year! I am back for the first time in 3 years. I lost 70 pounds in the months after surgery and have gained back 25 of those pounds. I lost 8 pounds in the past months but it is a struggle, every day is a struggle. I am 59 and it took me 57 years to realize that I am a food addict. New year, new goals. I am back and I am in! Good luck everyone. -
how long does the staple line take to heal?
Eat That Frog replied to alene's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you talking about staples on the inside or outside? -
I have been thrilled with the weight loss but am horrified with the way my face looks. I have always had a slightly sunken area under my eyes, but now the rest of my face looks hollow and wrinkled. Almost every day someone will ask me if I am feeling OK because I don't look good. Someone in the medical profession asked me if I had thought about fat transfer, so I have been reading about it, Has anyone had any experience with this?

FLORIDA CENTER FOR COSMETIC SURGERY
Eat That Frog replied to Sweetpea1's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
Where are they located? -
I didn't lose any hair. I have no idea if this helped...but I used Keranique products for my hair (I ordered from HSN). I also eat a lot of protein bars (mainly Atkins). I have never been good about taking my vitamins and only get them in a few times a week, but all of my blood work has been normal, so I attribute that to the Atkins bars. I usually have one for breakfast and have one before bed. Good luck!

I have not had any surgery other than this, but can tell you the pain wasn't too bad. I also had a hernia repair, spent 3 nights in the hospital and had to have blood, but never needed any pain meds after I went home. I was 54 at the time. The first few weeks I would have some brief pain when doing something like standing up, but it only lasted a few seconds. Good luck!

Anyone NOT lose hair
Eat That Frog replied to Jellybeansoup's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 8 months out and didn't lose any hair. I have no idea if this helped...but I used Keranique products on my hair and ate a lot of Atkins bars. I rarely remember to take all of my vitamins (bad girl). -
Slow Weight Loss
Eat That Frog replied to Butterfly66's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am a slow loser. The first 30 pounds flew off, and since then it has been a few pounds a month. I eat what I want (within reason) but try and keep it healthy. I eat out a lot. I haven't lost any hair and am off most of my meds and am feeling great, so I am OK with it. -
I know that when I went to WW prior to the sleeve, some of the members were not very welcoming to anyone that had any type of weight loss surgery. They felt like the surgery was cheating and the weight should just fall right off. If you go I wouldn't volunteer that information, but WW is a great program.

How much do you consume when you eat meals that are primarily protein? -
Burning in Left Shoulder Blade?
Eat That Frog replied to poohbear1019's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the left shoulder pain almost every day after eating dinner. It lasted 4 to 5 months but eventually went away. -
I am 7 months out and haven't lost any hair. I often forget to take my vitamins...but I do eat a lot of Atkins bars and use Keranique products on my hair. I have no idea if that helped or not but thought I would mention it.

Happy Anniversary. You look great.

I am 7 months out and my only regret is not doing this years ago. I am off most of my medications, sleeping better and my knees don't hurt all of the time. You will find a small percentage of people that truly regret this because of complications, so it is a big decision.

There are a few people on here that have suggested books to read on this topic...I am hoping some of them will post again because I can sure use some help myself, I will have several great days and then eat until I make myself sick. Good luck!

I don't know what else to do!
Eat That Frog replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we both had surgery around the same time...I was September 10. I am still losing slowly, usually 1 pound per week. I eat out a lot and have more junk food than I should, so I know that is slowing me down. Can you give us an example of what a typical days' food is? -
One year Surgiversary! 80lbs gone :-)

Congrats! Are you at goal? -
My love affair with food is FINALLY over!
Eat That Frog replied to WeightStruggle's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree totally. The first 2 months I was disgusted with food and my appetite and cravings have slowly returned. I am still winning the fight but it is much harder than I thought it would be. Good luck. -
I haven't lost any hair and am 7 months out. I rarely remember to take my vitamins but I do eat a lot of Atkins bars (at least 1 per day) and I have used Keranique from time to time on my hair. You are supposed to use it twice a day, I use it a couple times a week. Not sure if those are relative...

How much food can you eat?
Eat That Frog replied to dixiejuju's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 2 weeks you should be eating 1/4 to 1/2 cup of food at a time, depending upon how dense it is. Eating 3 meals and 2 snacks. -
Sounds like you are off to a great start. Every day I felt a little bit more "normal" and eventually got to the point where I wasn't obsessed with what I had done. Good luck!

fear and the food addiction
Eat That Frog replied to bethechange's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think this is a very common problem, For me, I spent the first 2 months hating to eat, and have spent the last 4 months fighting the same old fight I have dealt with for years. My husband doesn't understand that we still can't have any junk food in the house because I will eat it. I might only eat 3 cookies where before surgery I would have eaten 12, but I still want them. And as with Pantela, I deal with hunger daily. It isn't acid reflux or thirst, it is hunger. I just take it one day at a time. Hang in there and good luck! -
Fruits and vegetables
Eat That Frog replied to Kimo.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no RAW veggies for 6 months, but cooked veggies and fruits are OK. I was not having any issues, so I started having salads at around 5 months. -
Wings & Spice?
Eat That Frog replied to BrokeMyHalo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure how far out you are...at 6 months I can eat anything with no problems. I love spicy food and started adding in at about 8 weeks out. It bothered me a little bit at first but gradually got to where it didn't phase me. -
Struggling Eating Meat, HELP!
Eat That Frog replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have similar feelings...meat doesn't appeal to me as much as it used to. I have eaten so many eggs that I don't even like them anymore, I eat Atkins bars for at least 1 meal a day and also get protein from milk and yogurt. Kashi has a cereal that is high in protein. One of my favorite meals is soup, since the meat is in small pieces. Wendy's chili and Chic-Fila chicken tortilla soup work well for me.
