Im So Sick
Eat That Frog replied to newgrandmother's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
newgrandmother...I think we both had surgery the same day (9/10) and I am also struggling. Nothing tastes good, the only thing that I enjoy is applesauce and yogurt and I can't survive on that. I am sick of the shakes, so I am trying to take a few days break from those. I ordered some Protein Bars online from Bariatric Advantage, I tried them at my doctors office and thought they were good. I know that isn't a long term solution, but I know if I can get through the next few months things will get easier. Hang in there! -
My experience is very similar to yours. I think that once I start eating more I will feel better, but every meal is an ordeal. I have to make myself eat, after 2 or 3 bites I am disgusted with the food. Nothing tastes good. I think it's just a matter of time, most comments I have read say that it takes several months to get back to feeling "normal." Good luck, hang in there!

My doctor says the biggest incision may continue to "weep" a little bit until it is healed. If the substance coming out is green or yellow or smelly, you should be concerned.

Home From Hospital! My Highlights.....
Eat That Frog replied to fattymcfatterson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good to hear, it sounds like you are doing as well as expected. Every day it should get just a tiny bit better. Good luck! -
Sweets were always my weakness. I am 3 weeks out and just had a SF vanilla pudding and it is so sweet I didn't enjoy it. I would be thrilled if my tastes change to where I don't care for sweets anymore. Rose...can you find something SF to satisfy the urge? Maybe a SF fudgescicle? Do you have 7-11's where you live? Their Crystal Light Slurpees are yummy. Good luck!

Eat That Frog replied to Myst E's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry you are struggling and I pray that the doctors can quickly figure this out and that you will be on the road to recovery. Please keep us updated. -
I have seen several people mention "slimies." What are they and what causes them? Thanks!

Were you craving the cereal or was it just the excitement over moving on to real food? -

When Does Pureed Come In?
Eat That Frog replied to jaded's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's strange how every doctor has a different food plan. I am on puree for weeks 2 and 3, let me tell you it is disgusting. I am mainly sticking with protein shakes, eggs, apple sauce, yougurt, etc. Only 4 more days until I can move on to real food. -
Broke Up W Fiancee. Ugh

It sounds like the best decision. You need to concentrate on getting healthy and not settle for less than you deserve. -

I Spiced Up My Protein Shake!
Eat That Frog replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds great everyone, thanks for the tips. I am in the "puree stage" and am still mainly drinking shakes because most everything I have pureed is nasty. -
I was so excited to move on to puree foods today. I don't have a food processor but figured I could get by with a blender, but my first attempt was a disaster. I cooked a piece of chicken and some veggies, but when I tried to puree them the blender never got them to the mushy state I was looking for. I ended up chewing each bite 100 times and it took me over an hour to eat. I was ready to cry by then time I was done. Any suggestions? Short of putting in so much broth that each meal is Soup I don't know what to do. I really don't want to buy a food processor if I don't have to since I will just need it for 2 weeks, the costs related to this surgery are strangling me. Thanks for any suggestions.

Severe Osteoarthritis-Knees
Eat That Frog replied to chilihot59's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Osteo-arthritis is the main reason I decided to have surgery. Every step I took hurt and I hoped that losing weight would help with the pain. When I woke up in the hospital after surgery I realized that I had no more pain. I am 10 days out and the pain hasn't returned. I asked the doctor but he had no theories about why the pain disappeared overnight. Anyone have anything similar? -
Sudden Severe Incision Pain...ouch
Eat That Frog replied to Sleevedreamz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was just at the doctor today, 9 days out. She said the largest incision will continue to be a little sore and may "weep" a little bit. As long as the leakage is minimal, and isn't green, yellow or smelly it is probably OK. Seriously, mopping 2,800 square feet of flooring is a big job for someone that hasn't had surgery. Take care of yourself! -
Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
Eat That Frog replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on the 10th, ended up spending 3 nights in the hospital for various reasons. I can't wait to get that bill...I am self pay and already stretched really thin financially because of it. I still have some brief pain when getting up and down but otherwise am OK and haven't needed any pain meds since day 2. I feel a little bit better each day. Tomorow I go back to the doctor and am praying to get to move on to pureed foods because I am sick ot the Protein shakes. Sick, sick sick! I went back to work on Monday, thankful that I have a desk job because it was hard for me to sit around the house. Good luck everyone! -

I am surprised that you are allowed bean soup this soon, I don't have my book handy but I am pretty sure that it said not to have anything like this for 6 months! -
Newley Sleeved 9-10-12
Eat That Frog replied to kozmo's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats! I had surgery the same date! I am feeling a little bit better each day. I go back to the doctor tomorrow and hope to move on to pureed food, I am sick of the Protein shakes. You have really done well with your weight loss, that has to make you feel good. A week after surgery I am finally back to my pre-surgery weight. I was in the hospital 3 nights and apparently all of the IV fluids got me off to a slow start. Good luck for continued success!
