My surgery is September 10, and I have a previously scheduled weekend trip October 5, 25 days after surgery. That will be 3 days into eating non-pureed food. Is that too soon? Am I pushing it? I will have a hotel suite with a mini-kitchen and can take some food with me, but I will be eating out part of the time.

Most people that are overweight do experience various forms of discrimination, so it probably not your imagination. Your depression is normal because you are anxious to get the process started and the wait can be excruciating. I have a week until surgery and it seems like an eternity. Hang in there, it will all be worth it. You are worth it! -
Don't beat yourself up, some doctors don't even require a pre-op special diet. My pre-op diet allows for one low-carb meal per day. Tonight I had a burger without the bun and grilled veggies.

I have only told a couple of people. A common theme I am reading on here is that people don't want to tell their parents. I haven't told my Mother because I know she will be negative and I don't want to strain our relationship. She will probably be upset when she finds out, but I have to do what is best for me and quuit worrying about everyone else. Good luck!

I also started mine today and it has been a long, ugly day! Dealt with hunger off and on throughout the day, so I drank a lot of Water and it seemed to pass. Right now I have a dull headache and am starving and am not sleepy at all. I am trying to be positive because every pound I lose today is one less I will have to lose after surgery, and this is preparing me for a period of bland, boring food. Good luck Amanda! -

I am scheduled for surgery 9/10/12. I have many reasons for needing to do this, but the main reason is because I have osteo-arthritis in my knees. I have always been active despite my weight, but now that every step I take hurts and I am having to limit my activities I have a different outlook on surgery, Anyone else with the same date? Anyone else with knee problems? I am happy to have found this forum.
