I was not put on preventative meds and had to have my gallbladder removed 3 weeks ago. Was having massive attacks, and OMG was it painful! The surgery was pretty easy though. I am 10mo out

Need help getting back on track & advice

Hi everyone- I am nearly 9 months post op and everything has been easy peasy until recently. I had to have my gallbladder removed, then went on a cruise one week later, then my bday one week later. I haven't been horrible, but I haven't been good either. I have gained around 6 lbs. some of it is likely water, but still- need to head this off and get back on track. So wondering what you've done to sort of "jolt" your body back into loss. Other than the obvious exercise and common sense diet. What are your thoughts? Back to protein? Shakes or solids? -
I am 8 mo post op, and I have stalled. It is brutal! I am thinking I need to change things up. I had quit the protein shakes, but I think I am going to start them again. Trick my body. My surgeon said I could stop the shakes and just eat natural protein- but I think the issue is im not really hungry so I pick on things, some not so great! Going back to basics!

I understand where you are coming from. I have made some incorrect choices recently and they are becoming frequent. However, the good thing is we recognize it now and can correct our actions! No judgements at all - sending positive vibes and prayers your way. ???? -
December 2012 Sleevers, Sound Off!
diekoi replied to SamED's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
SimpleJax - you look great!!!! WTG!!!! I am amidst the dreaded stall as well I was sleeved on 12/27/12 and have lost 73-76 lbs depending on the day. However, I am in a much better place than I ever was pre-surgery. I am off all my meds- great success! I was a diet coke addict, now only drink water - exceptionally will have a diet soda with water in it. I know what I need to stop- I snack and graze a lot! And it's the wrong things- popcorn, peanuts, protein bars. I recognize what i am doing (success!)- now to put the fix in motion. I am determined to be down 40 before my cruise Sept 30. -

Anyone have a hard time planning meals for your family? I guess my issue is my husband and son are very active and don't have to worry about weight. They eat relatively healthy, but they do eat carbs(not a lot, just normal). I am having a hard time planning meals for them and grocery shopping since I really don't eat what they do. I just cannot seem to come up with ideas. Poor guys! Lol Just wanted to see if anyone having this same challenge

Great - thanks! It doesn't hurt or make you feel overly "full"?

First flying experience post op tomorrow
diekoi replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can relate, I travel for my job and was so humiliated before surgery. Now I feel normal! As for food/water- I bag some snack baggies of various things like turkey or ostrich jerky, almonds, and yes- Protein bars. I just try to find the best options for protein bars I can- I can't even eat the whole bar anyway. As the prior member stated, if you ask for the bottle they will give it to you- I usually just say I had surgery recently and need more to take my meds. OR if its a long flight just buy a big Water after security or bring and fill a large bottle after security. One big water and then 2 of the waters from the flit should get you through. Another thing that works great are these Protein shakes on the link below, just add water and shake- not the best but not bad. http://www.dietdirect.com/bariwise-instant-protein-drinks-weight-loss-bw240-wildberry.html -
I have to stay away from all things "white" - rice, Pasta, breads, potatoes. I tried a few bites of rice and that was horrible. Bread, in a tiny bite, made me slime. I guess all in all- this is a good thing because I need to stay away from those foods anyway. Potatoes though, oh those things were my infinite buddy, now I have no desire and the texture is gross to me. However, now cheese is my buddy! I am scared of this because while good for Calcium and protein- it can be fattening and "clog the pipes" if you get me. Protein Shakes, turkey, chicken (moist), fish, and crab- those are staples now.

Thank you everyone- today I went to the outlet mall and it was SOOOO nice shopping in the "non-fat" stores. I finally didn't feel like the odd one in the group. Loving this! -
Definitely- we should be there for each other! 110% agree!!!!

I was sleeved on 12/27/12, I am a little over 4 mo post op. I have lost 63 lbs, I am thrilled!!!! However, I am at the inevitable stall. I have read the forums and I know this too shall pass, BUT my concern is - I am scared of food. As time passes I can eat more than I could 2 months ago or even last month. Now, logic tells me that is good, that's how this should work- and I am not eating anywhere NEAR what I used too. 2 more bites is not a lot, but I guess there is this other side of me that thinks uh-oh... 2 more bites today, 4 more tmrw, a whole serving next week. I am scared I will gain or just perma-stall and maintain. This week I have gone back to protein shakes and protein focus- which has always been there, but being more regimented about it. So, I guess my question is - did y'all experience this fear of food? This fear that you will over eat again? Like an alcoholic, one drink leads to chaos. I fear that will be me with food. Again, logic tells me that will not happen- we physically cannot fit that much food in there! But still...any feedback appreciated. :-)

Thanks folks- at least know I am not alone! I appreciate you sharing. MrsG, I am with you- thinking of talking to someone as well. Perhaps I will call my dr office too.

I was sleeved 12/27/12- doing great. My only complaint is recently I seem to be tired a lot. Aren't we all? Lol! But seriously, I'm taking vitamins religiously including b-12 shot once a week. I'm getting a lot of protein & calcium. I am eating between 600-700 calories a day. But I just get drained by the end of the work day. Maybe it's also my job stress and recent traveling has caught up with me... Just wondering if anyone has felt this exhaustion as well?
-
My surgey date was 12/27/12, I am down 58 lbs. the past few weeks I keep hovering between 205-209. I am guessing some of the is water weight. My job has recently become even more stressful/demanding the normal. I have been traveling every week since end of Feb. When not traveling its been non stop conference calls - usually between 7am and 10pm. I know this is not an excuse, but I haven't been exercising- I am so physically and mentally drained. It's all I can do to get a decent amount of sleep. So, between the WL stall and the lack of exercise I find I am getting frustrated with myself. I know I have done good for almost 4 months- but I know I could be doing better. It just seems like the exhaustion is overbearing. Perhaps it's just laziness... Anyone have any tips for managing such a demanding career and weight loss?

I am 3 months post op today and no issues. However, I just laid down for bed & very suddenly got this horrible pain. It started mid back then radiated around my right side under my breast area. I haven't had heartburn today- could it still be that? Could it be gas? I just got up and took some gas-x so seeing if that helps. It felt almost like when you eat too much and it gets stuck- but I haven't eaten for a few hours. Very odd...
