  1. How much syrup do you use? I know most people say to taste but I never know where to start. Thanks.
  2. I'm scheduled for Saturday. Also bundle of nerves but not about the pain. More about what if this doesn't work like the LAPBand. Totally unrational since there is so much proof on this board alone that it works. Stress sure does a number on your ability to reason!
  3. Thanks for posting this. Heading to Sprouts to pick up some of the whey protein. Have you tried it in plain broth?

    recovery time for band removal?

My band removal was the easiest and surgery I have done (I've had about 8). I had a lot of scar tissue between the band and stomach and had severe restriction with an empty band. I stopped taking pain meds the day after surgery. My gallbladder surgery I took pain meds for about 5 days. I am a year out and only residual effect of the removal is I have no sensation of being full. I could just eat until I threw up if I was inclined. Hope this is resolved with the sleeve. I have my surgery in 6 days!
  5. Good luck. Keep us posted.
  6. Thanks CCC. It was vague. I have been googling other diets for some guidance. LMK what you find out.
  7. I am having surgery with Dr Kelly 9/22. Did you receivdoubt info on post-op diet? I am such a planner and want to organize/shop this weekend before I leave.
  8. My husband will be there.

    Dr Kelly On 8/31

Hope all went well. I just scheduled with Dr Kelly for 9/22. Keep us posted on how you are doing.
  12. I'm in Az too in NW valley of Phx. Just scheduled today with Dr. Kelly for 9/22. I also have similar stats and goals. I am trying to decided if I should fly to San Diego or will I feel up to driving 5 hours home after surgery. Any insight? I have had multiple abd surgeries and have always sailed through with minimal pain/fatigue.
  13. My story is not so different than most. Band in 2007; my surgeon left the practice and the single remaining surgeon was juggling everybody for about6 months until the hospital closed thermogram and all the patients transfer to another surgery group about 45 minutes away. Along the way I never felt restriction or achieved that "sweet spot" but was unable to tolerate solids with any meal and eventually got to the point that protein shakes were toothpick to tolerate. Next we moveacross country (had band unfilled just prior to move) and I decided that I would finda new MD to remove band as I was developing severe anxiety and depression associated with eating anything. After several months and visiting several local Surgeons I found one willing to remove the band and had insurance approval without difficulty. Had the band out almost 1 year ago and can't tell you how much the quality of my life has improved EXCEPT that I have gained 40 of the 55 pound I orginally lost. I have been able to identify some lifestyle factors that have contributed to this----working nightshift ass RN,not getting enough sleep due to my twins after school activities, and eating fast food due to convience of the hectic scedule, and then starting graduate school. I have tried the HCGdiet, Weight Watchers x3, and phentermine without any success since my band removal. I am really frustrated at where I am and the anxiety has returned. I am in grad school to be a nurse practitioner and how can I be taken seriously when promoting healthy lifestyle changes when I am obese. At any rate I have contemplated the VSG for several months and am comfortable with the procedure. I know I will continue to obsess over myweight until I acheive a healthy BMI and this will impact myfuturesocial encounters or my relationship with my patients once I graduate. After this long rambling post my point is that I am comfortable with the decision to move forward with the VSG but am getting major resistance from my husband. Ultimately I know he will support what I want but I know he thinks this is a wasteof money also "since the lap and was such a waste and you hated it. Why will this be different" I would like to move forth with his support although I know I will pursue it either way. Has anyone else had resistance from their spouse or family and how did you handle? Thanks for reading my ramble. Susan
