Best Tasting Protein Powders
Lhollingsworth replied to mamakate78's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Have you noticed any difference in whey vs soy protein? I dislike the texture of soy even though the flavor isn't bad. I just can stomach how it feels. Whey seems to dissolve better. -
Best Tasting Protein Powders
Lhollingsworth replied to mamakate78's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
There should be a protein shake swap on here like we have a clothing exchange. I have some powders that I am not in love with and I have no idea what to do with them now, but I'm loathed to throw the out. I also have some that I like a lot but wouldn't mind sending someone a scoop to try. Is that weird!? Hahaha -

Omg I Don't Know Whats Going On
Lhollingsworth replied to tinytears's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a bout if this during thanksgiving and the week following. Then I realized that I gained weight and might have been jeopardizing my surgery. It was a moment and it passed. You just have to get yourself in the right frame of mind! -
Pre op diet & cooking for family
Lhollingsworth replied to asherje's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm doing ok on my preop. Admittedly I'm bored with it - but I am keeping pretty satisfied with protein shakes in terms of hunger. I have a feeling if you ask me a week from now I might be singing a different tune lol. -
Waiting For Approval ... Aahhh!
Lhollingsworth replied to Lhollingsworth's topic in Insurance & Financing
It took mine one week to the day. -
I have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield. How long did you have to wait for approval? What is your experience? What is your insurance? I'm clearly being neurotic !
-
I agree this is very good!

I feel as if in the last week some sort of shift has occurred in my thinking. Up until now I have been excited and nervous- with an emphasis on excited. Before the surgery was off in the distance and I had a safe healthy amount of time between the "here and now" and my surgery. Well now I'm not measuring in months but weeks- and pretty soon it will be days. This reality is setting in and I am starting to get freaked out. I've already caught myself self-sabotaging by eating out, taking a cookie from the staff room, finding excuses not to exercise, not taking my Vitamins, not drinking Water like I should ... Etc. I'm worried about the surgery itself but I'm also worried about life after the surgery. I'm worried that I might fail. I'm also freaked out about the changes that are going to happen to my body. I weigh 275 right now. The lightest I can remember as an adult is 249. I have always been large; I was a size 16-18 in middle school. I have no concept of what it will be like to be smaller and honestly I am scared of losing what is so familiar to me. This is my body. I have never been one to suffer from low self esteem or body image issues. I have always accepted this as me. I want to be healthy and I know that there are so many things that I will enjoy more and try, but I am scared because I have no preconceptions of what I will look or feel like thinner. I have this awful image of me not knowing my own body, like a gangly teenager. Tomorrow I have 21 days until surgery and I feel like I have an awful lot to work out before then. I am overwhelmed.

Lhollingsworth replied to PoohSoup0803's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know how you are feeling! I started my pre-op diet this week and it made it very tangible. I like how you said " craziest thing I've ever done to myself" I keep thinking - omg what am I doing??! -

Physical Job And Time Off?
Lhollingsworth replied to silvercat3's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Is there anyway that you could hire a temp helper while you recover? Or have family help you out with your business? If you could hire someone to dictate to for a few weeks you could still go through with the surgery. I know it isn't optimal income wise but it might be a way. -
Shopping List For Surgery
Lhollingsworth replied to BewhoGodcreatedmetobe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went shopping this weekend for my pre-op liquid diet phase. I bought: cream soups (chicken, mushroom, broc & cheese - all will need to be strained) AdvantEDGE Protein Shakes G2 Campbell's Squash Bisque - SO SO GOOD Chicken Broth Flintstone Vitamins Gas X strips for the hospital So much Jello Pudding A friend at work also talked me into signing up for Juice Plus supplements. I'm certain that these will help with my recovery and prevent hair loss. I feel like I'm forgetting to get something!!! -
You look fantastic! As for the weight stall - 7 lbs is nothing to scoff at I have lost 15 pre-op and I was feeling badly about not losing more so far. Then I picked up a ten pound weight and realized just exactly how much that was! It put it in to perspective.
-
It will be here before you know it I promise! I feel like I blinked and how I'm on my pre-op diet. Honestly I'm feeling like I didn't have enough time to prepare.
-
I hope your surgery went well and you are recovering!

Thanksgiving is tomorrow and I am incredibly thankful that I live in the first state to pass gay marriage at the ballot box!

There is a lot of talk about gas immediately post op. Are we talking like embarrassing flatulence? Some mild burping? Scale of 1-10 how bad was this? I'm sure that post op it will be the last thing I care about - in fact I will prob want to due to discomfort from what i am reading - but right now I have some anxiety thinking about passing gas in front of people - or within ear shot lol!
-
I hope you are feeling better!! That is so scary. Aside from the pain did you have any other symptoms?
-
How is the liquid diet going for you?
-
Lol yes! That way I will have some nice meds to get me through the end of the world !
-
I'm not sure why my iPad filled in those numbers for me. I meant to say a 3/6/9 month diet.
-
My insurance (anthem bcbs) didn't require one. The program that I am in does require a two week pre-op liquid diet. I'm very thankful that I didn't have to do a 30-60-90 diet as some insurances do have people complete.
