3 week liquid diet?
Lhollingsworth replied to Lisa22465's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had gained some weight over thanksgiving and I opted to start my pre op a week early. I'm a little over two weeks in and I'm fine. -
I'm so glad I cleaned out my cupboards. I have been very tempted to cheat on my liquid diet - and I have with a small bite once or twice. I think it would have been too much if I hadn't tossed all the bad stuff!

Does anyone who is (or has done this) on the liquid diet feel like there is too much sodium involved? Between broth, soup, protein shakes etc I'm feeling like I'm getting too much. :/

Looking for people with a similiar surgery date as mine Dec 21...

does anyone have a similair experience?
Lhollingsworth posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I love reading all of the posts that people make about their pre-op diets and the day of their surgery and the follow up days. I remember reading them when I first started this process and being so jealous. It felt like my turn would never get here. I also was so nervous that insurance would turn me down, or the doctor would say I didn't do something right. Well now I'm on my liquid diet, and I only have 12 days until surgery. It has flown by. The liquid diet has not been nearly as daunting or difficult as I thought it would. I'm so happy that I have made it this far! I just wanted to let anyone who is just starting this process and feeling overwhelmed, discouraged, or even just plain jealous (like I was) that there is a light at the end of the tunnel! Granted this just means that I have made it through the end of the post-op journey and to the beginning of pre-op but I have the distinct feeling that I am about to "level-up" lol . -

The pre-op is going really well. I'm actually down 11 lbs from when I started and I am not finding that I'm starving. Don't get me wrong - I miss eating "real food" - but I'm not "hungry" like I thought I would be. As long I stay ahead of the hunger with protien shakes I find that I don't mind the pre-op at all. Today I've had: Breakfast: Protien shake 4oz Water & instant coffee 4oz milk 1 scoop vanilla protien powder 2 tsp sugar free pumpkin spice coffee mate (this was way yummy) Snack: greek yogurt Lunch: 8 oz protien shake 1/2 cup of Soup Snack: greek yogurt Dinner: Cream of broccoli&cheese soup (strained) I've also had G2 to sip on all day. Calorie wise it comes in at 800ish. Protien around 70 I may have left something out I can't remember at this point, probably Jello . Honestly, I feel like I've eaten all day to get all of that in. I eat less when I'm working. When I'm teaching it is very go go go and I don't notice that I haven't had a lot. -
GOT CLEARED!
Lhollingsworth replied to ShrinkyDinkMe22's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I find that planning and focusing on the simple and tangible things can keep me from freaking out too much. So I like to make lists and such . I read on here that gas-x strips are a must have. I haven't asked my dr about that yet. -

I've never been put under either. I am scared of that. I tell myself "thousands of people do it everyday"... but I don't if that really helps me lol. How long is your expected stay at the hospital? Have you planned what you will bring? -

You will be a surgery rock star Is there anything specific that you are freaking out about? -
My wife is feeling the same way. It is difficult because it is just the two of us and I have always cooked for her. She is very thin and typically eats what she wants. She was just saying how she feels guilty - This is moslty because I am on a pre-op liquid phase right now so I image it will pass somewhat. I guess maybe ask him why he feels guilty? My wife feels guilty because she knows that I literally can't eat what she is eating right now and the first week of liquids was rough. Now, I am feeling more confident about what I can and can't have and I have assured her that it is ok, and that I am ok, and that I want this surgery and weight loss WAY more than I want her food ! Maybe he feels guilty because he thinks that you want what he is eating?

oh no, cookies!
Lhollingsworth replied to SleeveShelly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I teach at a high school and all of the teachers on my floor decided to sign up for cookie making. The idea being that everyone would bring in Cookies for the teacher's room each day from now until Christmas Vacation... I have decided to stay clear of the teacher's room for a while as I just don't think I have THAT much self-control. I have to add that this just happens to coincide with my pre-op liquid diet - oh the irony! lol -
Ughhh Aunt Flow is here... AGAIN!
Lhollingsworth replied to skinnygirlscomingout's topic in The Gals' Room
Aunt Flow has definately out-stayed her welcome! I'm pre-surgery, but I am seeing that a lot of people on here who experience a stall go back to liquids for a bit? Losing weight during your period is tough. I can't imagine!! -
