    Bad Taste

I am 8 days post op and I seem to have an awful taste in my mouth that I can't get rid of. Has anyone else experienced this or am I just crazy?

Rate the pain post op 1-10.. And why?

Immediately post surgery when they woke me up (pre-meds) : 7 - but this was also like for 5 min MAYBE The rest of that day: 4-5 Day 2: 3 From there on out: 0-1 The gas was really the worst part and the pain meds don't help with that. You just have to walk, walk, walk! I used a heating pad and that helped a lot too. The pain was not bad and soooo worth it!

    Dehydration

I'm 8 days post op and this morning I woke up mildly dehydrated. I've spend most of my day sitting around getting myself rehydrated. I've always gotten dehydrated easily so this has been a big fear of mine for this surgery. I hope you are feeling better soon!

    Surgery tomorrow

I brought comfy clothes like sweat pants & t-shirts and honestly I was so happy to change into them on day 2. I brought gas-x and a heating pad for the gas pain- the heating pad worked better. Toiletries such as toothbrush, deodorant, chapstick (the hospital also provided these). I also brought my iphone and ear buds. I had my ipad too but the phone was easier to hold. The ear buds were great because I was in a double room. When I wasn't sleeping I was bored so spent a lot of time online - bring something to keep you busy. I brought my own towel because the tiny little hand towels that they give you to shower don't even start to work . Lastly make sure you have your insurance card on you so that you can easily pick up any RX that you leave with! I always overpack but I think it is so much more relaxing to know that you have what you need!
  5. I guess I am just confused because all of my scars from getting sleeved are well above the belly button. I have never had a c-section but wouldn't the scar tissue from that be much lower? I just assumed that they would not need to cross paths... But I could be way off base.
  6. I'm moving into my second week post op. How many calories are you consuming/ did you consume at this time?

what should I take to hospital tomorrow?

My heating pad made my stay at the hospital. Be sure to pack one! It helped so much when the gas settled in between my shoulder blades. Seriously, if you don't have one - have someone pick one up for you and bring it to the hospital!

    Home...

Congrats! Coming home is such a great feeling. I felt so relieved. I felt better mentally and physically immediately and I know that I didn't have to stay as long as you did! Enjoy being home and continuing with your recovery
  10. So I'm posting this here because many of you are at a similar stage as me: I'm afraid that my sips are too big/ I am drinking too much at once. I'm not uncomfortable or full but the amount of fluids I can take in scares me :/ . Is anyone else dealing with this?
  11. I'm finally home! After 2 very long nights in the hospital . The staff took very good care of me but it gets old fast. I am hoping to get some good natural sleep today/ tonight.
  12. Day 2 is so much better than operation day!
  13. Sometimes I can't believe that I actually went through with this! but I'm glad that I did.
  14. Thanks you so much for all of your wonderful thoughts! I really do believe in the power of positive thoughts . I hope everyone else who had surgery today is doing great! I'm thinking of you!
  15. I've been in my room since about 1:30. I've been up walking so much as it is the only thing that really gives me relief

    Straws?

I understand that using a straw is supposed to cause bloating/ air in your sleeve. My question is - is this true? Has anyone on here tried using a straw?
  21. I'm on day 16 of my pre op diet and every time I lose a pound I imagine 4 sticks of butter. I was feeling down because I've lost 20 lbs since I started this program in September. So I look at it this way: That's 80 sticks of butter! I even google what 1lb of fat looks like and it is very close to a pack (4 sticks) of butter. I get this funny little cartoon image of me taping sticks of butter back over my body Lol. Really though if you are feeling down about slow weight loss just calculate how many sticks of butter are gone from you!!! Also, I will never look at butter the same way again haha.
