Weazer: HAPPY BANDAVERSARY! Wooohoooooooooo! You know, 50 pounds down and seemingly GONE FOREVER is nothing to sneeze at! You're doing great!

In case you haven't heard of these, my sister uses the "nasal pillows" instead of a mask. You might ask about those for your claustrophobia. Just thought I'd mention it.

Yes, I got the aqua one. It's my favorite color. in fact, I painted my kitchen cabinets that color!

Major NSV today. I need a swimsuit for lymphoedema physical therapy and was SO dreading going to try and buy one. However, once I got there, I loved the very first one I tried! First I took a size 16 top and a 14 bottom in and I almost bought it! Then I thought I may as well try a 14 top. Then I went and got a 12 bottom and finally a 12 top! My head is having a hard time catching up to my body (image). I went for a pricier Land's End suit (which adds another level of accountability), tankini top with the little skirt, and I just love the color. I honestly thought I might run out of the dressing room crying, but I just floated out...and I can't wait to wear it! Suzie, I belong to a gym, so the weather doesn't matter. I like it also because it's an all women's gym and I've made some friends there. We encourage each other and talk while working out, so the time goes by quickly. Sometimes I hate to leave! Dianne, if it is the same way as when i was banded with self-pay, all follow-up appointments (check-ups every 3 mos.) and fills are INCLUDED in the price for one year from your surgery date. I don't imagine that has changed, but it would be wise to go ahead and ask.

Suzie, I did manage to take a couple of before pictures....begrudgingly! When I went to the all day Behavioral Health class, there was a panel of post-ops that had pics, so I went home and asked hubby to take some of me before I changed my mind! You are right. I'm so glad I did!

Hey, I was reading about your problems with short sleeved shirts these days and wanted to mention that (if you haven't seen them already) there is a new sleeve length out. It's called "elbow sleeve" and you can watch for that or google elbow sleeve shirt in products to find them. I got a couple of them at Target and they seem to be just the ticket! One more thing...if you haven't posted in the forum for others getting banded in May 2008, I highly recommend it! They will be going through what you are and at the same (basically) time. Love your new avatar! Pretty! Sorry to hear you are struggling on the pre-op diet. Have you looked in the food forum for some ideas to keep it from being too boring? Here is a link to it, but keep in mind if it doesn't go along with what your Dr. recommends for this phase, then you should pass on it. Different Dr.s have different guidelines. holly and kookie, I'm so excited for you! I still really can't stand having my picture taken so there won't be a pic of me for a while yet! Old habits die hard, ya know. You have likely seen this tip else where, but be sure to bring something very loose fitting to the hospital (I got a cheapy "duster/robe" at K-Mart) to wear home and bring a pillow to place between yourself and the seat belt. One other thing, if you use one of those foam square pillows in the hospital, you know, it's kinda scooped out for your head...take off the pillowcase and bring it home. (Just ask them if you feel funny taking it hehe) They don't re-use those and it is perfect for placing on your abdomen toward the right side before laying down on your side. With that pillow, I was able to sleep on my side from the very first night...no recliner for me! Be sure to keep us informed here. I think more people read here than reply (myself included) but don't think we aren't looking for your updates!

hollygurl and kookie, Congrats on making it through some of the process so quickly! I remember so well how excited I was before the surgery. Even the pre-op diet was almost fun! (I swear!) You'll be in bandland before you know it!

Expect a very kind Dr. to have a chat with you about your weight challenges, goals and which procedure you are considering. I know that may be more simplistic an answer than you may have wanted, but the point is, "don't worry". It is mostly a time for YOU to ask the questions. So write them down if you need to or have some in mind that you want answers to. That appointment is a breeze. :thumbup:

I was reading on this forum once, that a Dr. had stated when we gain SO much weight, and become obese or morbidly obese, our body counteracts that by adding muscle and bone to the lower body. This makes a lot of sense to me. I have no idea if we lose any of that (especially the bone) after losing weight, but if not, it might explain the higher weight. ?? Opinions anyone?
