When I see a seriously overweight young woman, I have this overwhelming urge...
MichelleTN replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
I wish someone had told me about weight loss surgery 20 years ago or even 10. I'll be 41 in may surgery April 21st I hope. I'm just glad my uncle took the time 3 yes ago to tell me how much he loved me & how afraid for me he was & how his find had had the lap band & how much better he felt. I know it was one if the hardest things he had done but I'm so grateful he got me thinking about changing my life. I can never repay him. :-) -
Good luck, you got this !!! Prayers for calmness.

Face moisturizer suggestions? And dry skin in general -- lotion suggestions?
MichelleTN replied to Elizabeth21's topic in The Gals' Room
I use pure Vitamin E lotion. -
Bless your heart, I absolutely hate heartburn. That's one of the reasons I went with bypass instead of sleeve. I know sometimes when I drink water on an empty stomach I get it. Prayers for healing for you, good luck.

Mine wants me to lose more too. Didn't really give me a number but more of how "soft" my upper stomach feels. Hopefully when I go back on the 8th it's still a go for the 21st. Good luck, keep us posted! Mine was very stern about 40 pounds I don't know if I'm gnna make it but when it happens it happens I never heard of going on how soft your stomach is because if that's the case in soft all over lol Everytime I go he feels/pushes on a spot about 3 inches below my bra line to see if it's soften up/ gotten falter in that area. I'm guessing it gives him more room to work things around in there during surgery. Lol I've got to kick my butt in gear on the exercise part.

My only took a couple of days, I'm sure you will hear from them next week. :-)

Getting Approved Through Medicaid?
MichelleTN replied to JCassell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh & don't let people put you down for having state insurance. I worked 40-72 hrs a week at a high paying job. paid in Thousands of dollars in taxes. Now because of life's turns & twist I'm working part time for $7.25. When anyone says anything negative to me about my insurance I just tell them I'm just using what I paid in for 20 years! If you haven't walked in someone's shoes then don't judge! We all need help sometimes. -
Getting Approved Through Medicaid?
MichelleTN replied to JCassell's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My was approved in a day but I had everything done. 6 mos preoperative diet, psychological evaluation, nutrition visit & my PCP paperwork all filled out. I'm in Tn but I would think all of it is the same. If you have talked to your PCP before about your weight &;have told them your were doing a diet ( weight watchers, 1800 calories diet, anything like that) your PCP might be able to sat you have done your 6 mos diet. Just make sure they have your beginning weight & current. The key is having all you paperwork CORRECTLY filled out. Hope this helps. Good luck. -
Get those levels checked. I don't think they should have cut it that much. I think there is a 200. My Dr slowly goes up or down with mine. Never that much at one time. That's just my opinion.

I love vita melts.. I got some at Walmart, I didn't think of looking on amazon but I will go look now. Thanks. -
I was all set on the sleeve, the ideal of redoing my plumbing kinda freaked me out, but after talking with my surgeon I changed to bypass. He said it is easier to fix a leak with the bypass than the sleeve and he thought I'd have a better chance at losing more weight with the bypass. Just talk it over with your surgeon & what you feel better about. Good luck! !!!

new here, considering surgery, not sure which one
MichelleTN replied to Katie Loesch-Meyer's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
RNY is going to be your best bet because of the reflux. sleeve will almost always make it worse from what I've read. Good luck.
