    ok... getting scared....

Haha! Boss Lady, you hit the nail on the head! I'm viewing everything as the "last supper" but when I get up I limp away from the table, too! I'm excited for the accountability that the lapband requires....if it's up to me, I'll eat it. When I have the lapband, that's not gonna happen!!

    ok... getting scared....

I'm SO glad to read this - my surgery is in under three weeks, and the reality of what I'm choosing to do is sinking in. Every time I drink a Dr. Pepper, I think, "I can't drink this anymore" or every time I eat pizza I think, "Nope - not anymore..." But then when my knees hurt, it's hard to get up off the floor, when i can't cross my legs, etc. etc. then I get excited again. Best wishes to everyone!

    Intimacy

I missed my high school reunion two years ago, and I just skipped a wedding of some people who knew me when I was skinny. I know I'm guilty of sizing up people I haven't seen in a long time, and I don't want people doing the same to me. I ran into a former student who DIDN'T RECOGNIZE ME and it was so embarrassing. Sure, it might have been an honest mistake - maybe I was out of context - but I assumed it was because of the 50 pounds I'd packed on since last I saw her. Being fat (and being constantly aware of it) can really put the whammy on your self esteem.

    Any Banders In Their 20s's????

Have y'all noticed that lots of folks write that they wish they had done it sooner? Not to mention, so many people say "it's much harder to lose weight when you're older." Well heck! I'd rather get a grip on it now. I'm 29 and considering lapband. Ok, fine. I'll be 30 in 2 months. But still in my 20's for now!!!

    No motivation...all hopes on lapband

Please don't go into surgery hoping that the surgery will somehow motivate you or kick start your mental gears into action. You'll have enough to deal with during recovery and learning how to live with your band. This is EXACTLY the kind of stuff I want to know about! I guess I keep hearing fantastic things about the band, and I need to know the realistic side of things, too. How do you get your head wrapped around eating right...when that's been the problem all along? :hungry: Isn't it kind of a catch 22? Thanks again!
  8. Hey y'all - I have essentially given up on losing weight alone, and am putting all of my "eggs" in the lapband basket. Is this an ok mindframe to go into the lapband process? I am so heavy that I have NO motivation to exercise....I have just given up, and I REALLY want the lapband to work. I know that the lapband is a great tool, but it requires work on my part, too. Can I just hear from some folks who have maybe felt the same? Thanks a ton.

Deanna - Thank you for being such a honey! I can't tell you how much your sweet response meant to me. Thank you for being so kind. By the way, he apologized for "being a jackass" this evening. We shall see..... Best wishes to you!!!:kiss2:

    Intimacy

My BF just admitted last night that he's not sexually attracted to me now that I've gained a bunch of weight. I weigh 248 now, about 70 pounds heavier than when we started dating 5 years ago. My heart is broken, and I feel so embarrassed. We were going to wait until marriage before sex, but we had sex for the first time about three months ago....and haven't had sex since. He *swears* that he's still attracted to me....just "not as much." Part of me wants to tell him to eff off, and part of me wants to go and cry. (Wait! I have been crying!) Anyway - I REALLY want to get lapband surgery now.....but for ME, and not for his libido.
  11. When you have lapband, do you have to eat weird stuff? I understand the liquids, mushies, etc. around your surgery. Eating hard-to-find stuff, hunting down the "perfect fat free cracker" etc. etc. drove me CRAZY and was a major factor in giving up the normal dieting process out of sheer frustration. My hopes for lapband is that (after the healing process) I can eat NORMAL stuff, just much, much less. Is this unrealistic? Thank you for any and all input!

    What was the last straw?

The wiping!!!! Holy crap!! (Terrible pun, I know...) This has been a problem for me, along with the grinding knees and the perpetual tiredness.....I'm glad to know I'm not the only one. I have tried every trick in the book, and I've always gained it back. I am sick and tired of being sick and tired....Know what I mean? Good luck to all!!
  13. Kirsti Alley lost all of her weight with Jenny Craig. Did anyone see her on Oprah when she "revealed" herself? She looked great!

    Anyone in Dallas/Fort Worth?

Cool! I really appreciate all of the recommendations! I will definitely check them out!
  15. Hey y'all? Does someone have a recommendation for a lap band doctor in DFW? Specifically the Grapevine/Southlake area? Thanks!!
