Hi Everyone, I just found out Friday that I am being banded on July 19th. I am crazy happy! I have a 2 week pre op diet to do. Today is day 2 of that. Its going okay, not quite as hungry as I imagined it would be. Im drinking 2 Slim Fast Protein Shakes a day. And a high protein/low carb dinner. Consuming the 64 oz of water is tough, I have been subsituting it for Tea with Splenda, and Crystal Lite. I hear the pre op diet is pretty important, so I want to get this right. Ive dieted a big majority of my life, so 2 weeks shouldnt kill me. Im glad to be here, and thrilled to FINALLY have a surgery date.

Hello, thanks Physllser for inviting me. I didnt even realize this forum was here. Allow me to introduce myself. I am 32 yrs old. Mother of three. I live right outside of Nashville TN. I started this whole thing on May 3, I went to Dr Mortons office, got weighed and filled out paperwork. I weighed 197 and am 5'2.5. I had a BMI of 35.5. I also have Rheumatoid Arthritus, polysystic ovaries, along with some blood pressure issues. Because of that I am eligible for surgery. I had to get 2 letters of Medical Necessity, and had my phychicatric evaluation on June 18. I was approved yesterday, and my surgery date is set for July 19. I started my pre op diet today. I am so excited, I want to share it with everyone!!!

I am first day pre-op. WE CAN DO THIS!! Just 2 weeks, just think how worth it, its gonna be!!!! -
From my expierence it can be way sooner then 5 months, thats what I was told also. I have a 35.5 BMI, with Rheumatoid Arthritus.Polycistic Ovaries, with blood pressure issues. I got 2 letter of recomendations (one from Primary, the other from Rheumatologist) and a medical evaluation. I have PHCS insurance through my husbands work. Things move quick (especially if you call and bug the crap out of them on a daily basis, checking to see if your approved) Im surprised how fast it did get approved.

My husband has PHCS insurance does anyone know if they often cover the lapband? I have a BMI of 35.5 and i know the insurance wants a letter of necessity and a psychiatric evaluation. What kind of questions will I be asked during this evaluation? Any advise?

My husband has PHCS insurance. So far I know that you have to have a medical necessity and a psychiatric evaluation. Does PHCS often cover this procedure? (BMI 35.5) and what is some advise in talking to the psychiatrist?

Hi, my name is Michelle. I live right outside of Nashville TN. I have just started the procedure to get banded. I went to Dr Mortons office yesterday, filled out paperwork, gave insurance information and got weighed. I am 5'2 and weigh 197. They said my BMI was 35.5. Can I get such a surgery with a BMI that low? I have been on numerous diets only to gain back what I lost. I have rhuematoid Arthritus so maybe they will count that in as a factor. Anyone have a similar story? I also am wandering how long it may be till my surgery. Love the Forum!!!
