Preop Diet Starts Tomorrow....
Carly4HandinSD replied to klperry's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am on day 3 of my pre-op diet, I had to do 5 days since my surgery is Friday. Day one was super hard, not going to lie. Today seems to be easier until someone in the office made popcorn! You just have to stay strong and keep the big picture in mind I have been using the premier protein shakes from costco in chocolate and find they keep me pretty full. I've just been having something to drink every hour on the hour.. I stocked up on powerade zero, diet snapple, sugar free jello and Popsicle and of course lots of water! How long is your pre-op diet for? -

Surgery Date Sept. 17 What Are You Doing To Prepare
Carly4HandinSD replied to jennaruth's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Your surgery is just a few days after mine! I am scheduled for the 14th, so Friday! Did your Dr put you on a liquid diet at all? I have been on one since Sunday. I haven't really started getting nervous yet, more excited to go through the process! I am in the midst of moving a week after surgery so my home is full of boxes right now. For my Protein Drink, I actually like Muscle Milk light and Premier Protein the best. Both low sugar and carbs, musle milk light only has 20 rams of protein where premier protein has 30. I have read more good results then bad and stories about success. It is scary when you think about what you are actually putting your body though. But it will be worth it! Especially since you have children! I don't have any yet, I have PCOS and its very hard to conceive. I am a newly wed and my husband and I really want to have children some day, and I think this surgery will help make it happen. Not any time soon, but in hte future. Just hang in there, and it will be over before you know it! I can't believe my day is almost here! Good luck and just keep thinking of all the positives that you will see after the surgery -
WIth my plan they only required a 3 month visit with nutritionist. From my experience and what my insurance contact at the Dr office told me Cigna is actually good for approving, just as long as they have all the paperwork needed because they do deny for the littlest things. Mine was approved on the first try and I had a lot of extra stuff that way needed for approval, just different approvals from different dr's. I did have an *** with cigna and was nervous because I always thought ***'s were difficult to get WLS approved through.

Preop Cardiologist Check Up - High Blood Pressure
Carly4HandinSD commented on Ms. Popular's blog entry in Ms. Popular's Blog
You will be fine I too went through what you are going through, I have high blood pressure and a high heart rate. I had to go through cardiology before my dr would submit my insurance. I had to have an EKG, wear a 24 hour heart monitor and have an echo cardiogram done. In the end everything turned out fine, They put me on beta blockers until surgery, but I can still have surgery, In fact my surgery is this Friday the 14th. So it won't stop you from having it, they would just rather be safe then sorry and make sure your heart can hold up during surgery -
I was approved through Cigna as well. Mine was approved pretty quick, I think once my Dr submitted it I was approved in about 4 days. Prior to my insurance approval they allowed me to tenatively schedule my surgery. It wasn't etched in stone, but as long as nobody else requested that date it was mine. By the time my insurance approved it was still available. So once my insurance approved my surgery was only a few weeks out. The process seemed really fast and easy with Cigna. Now I am a week out from surgery. I only have a 5 day pre-op liquid diet that I start Sunday since surgery is a week from today. Monday I go to the hospital to do all the pre-op blood work and pre-register and all that stuff. I guess how fast you get scheduled depends on your doc and what else they have you do before surgery. Good luck

I've noticed this topic hasn't been replied to in awhile. I am new to this site, I am having surgery on the 14th of this month and also have PCOS. I just wanted to know how others were doing now that it has been some time. Has your PCOS gotten better or maybe completely gone away?

Who Are You?
Carly4HandinSD replied to illgeturhairdid's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
My name is Carly, I'm 28 about to be 29 in a few days. I live in San Diego California and love it! I have been married for about 11 months and have had the best/worst past year possible. Two months ago my mother passed away very unexpected and it gave me the extra push I needed to have this surgery done. I have been overweight my entire life. However, I am very active I do boxing/kickboxing at a boxing gym where they train professional MMA fighters and the coaches I work with are world champions or ex-NFL players. I also have PCOS which makes loosing weight hard and having a child almost impossible. I am at the point where I need to do this now, get healthy once and for all not only for me, but for my husband and future children. My husband is very fit, and never had a weight issue. He is very supportive of me, he was the one I was most scared to tell because to him he thinks losing eight should be easy! But we all know for us, it's not.My Best friend had the Sleeve a few months ago and has had great success, even though we live in difference states she is still been such a good reference guide for me. My husband and I have a dog, she is about 2 1/2 years old and is a basset hound, poodle, schnauzer mix. Sounds so different, but she is the cutest thing ever! She gets attention wherever we go and loves people! She is our baby for now I am about 3 weeks away from my surgery and am very excited to start the next chapter and new journey of my life!Hopefully to meet others along this journey that can be my support as well. I want to loose 200 pounds, but would be happy with 175 pounds lost.
