80 pounds gone forever and always :)

I had surgery on Sept 14th, 2012. I did it for many reasons, but the main was that in June my mother passed away. She was 55, 2 days short of her 56th birthday. She was extremely overweight and if she hadn't been then more than likely I would still have my mother today. My whole family battles weight. I have been overweight from the day I was born! I decided that I did not want to lose my life over something like my weight. I made the decision to have the surgery. I have a very smooth surgery. I had surgery at 11 am on a Friday and was discharged by noon on Saturday the very next day. My recovery was easy, no complications other than pain and some ankle swelling that I was given Water pills for. I took 4 weeks off work, although I could have gone back sooner I took the time to heal and really get acquainted with my new lifestyle. I have an amazing support system of my friends, my family, and my wonderful husband. Although my husband can not relate ( he is 157 pounds and very fit) he has never once made me feel like I could not do this. He loves me for me whatever I look like and knew that this was something that I needed to do not only for me, but for our future family. At the time of surgery we were getting ready to Celebrate our one year wedding anniversary, so timing wasn't the best, but then again when is ever going to be the best time to take control over your life other than now?? So 3 /12 months later I could not be happier with my results. I have lost 80.4 pounds since the day of surgery. While I still have another 130 some to go, I know that this surgery not only changed my life but saved it. For the first time in my life I love myself and who I am becoming. If that isn't a great result from this surgery, then I don't know what would be I attached some pics from the day of and then taken yesterday. I can not believe how far I have come in so little time, and this is just the beginning!! Thank you so much. It is tough when you feel helpless with a parent, you don't want to see them suffer but there isn't anything you can do to take that away from them. I am sorry for your loss as well. We are similar in many ways, our starting weight and goal is almost the same, I started out about 30 pounds heavier than you.. I love finding people who started around me surgery wise and weight wise -
Finally got past thta 80 pound mark, 80.4 pounds as of this morning! On to the 90 pounds lost mark

Sounds so good, how long and at what temp did you bake them for? I'm guessing you just mixed all the ingredients together and poured them in the muffin tins? -

Thank you I miss my mom so much everyday, it's only been 7 months so its still fresh. I always thought about doing it but never did it. In a way my mom pushed me to do it when we lost her, she just doesn't know it. It's sad to think that it took losing my mom to realize what I needed to do. I don't regret anything, I just wish my mom would have thought of something like this. But I know that I can't think of all the what ifs and just focus on what I can do I'm sorry to hear about your dad, I feel that no matter how long ago we lost a parent, the hurt still feels the same as the day they left us. I still have my dad, his health isn't the greatest, but not because of his weight. He has been heartbroken from losing my mom. But he is so proud of me and what I am doing and that is one of the best feelings in the world. -
Valentines Day Challenge!
Carly4HandinSD replied to LittleRed30's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just updated, I lost .6 pounds, but that was from yesterday's weight.. when we started this yesterday I didn't have my weight from last Thursday still. However .6 pounds over one day is still alright for me I updated the spreadsheet -
Good Morning! This weekend after trying to find some new low carb/calorie recipes I stumbled across Krafts Healthy living section. They have some good recipes that are low carb. Now some say the carbs are like 20 grams, however that is for a cup to 1 1/3 cups of food. I can eat maybe 1/4- 1/2 cup so take that into account when looking at the recipes. I found come really great ones, and substituted a few things to make it even healthier. Just some ideas for those that still like to cook and are getting tired of the same things! My husband was very happy with the recipes that I made from this so far http://www.kraftreci...cipes/main.aspx

Trying to add myself in but I can't for some reason on the spreadsheet. Love that idea. I already set a goal because Valentines day is also my 5 months anniversary from surgery I want to be at 100 pounds lost by then, right now I am at 79.8 which means I want to lose 20.2 by then -
Does period stay/become normal?
Carly4HandinSD replied to sars's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I have PCOS, prior to surgery I did not have a cycle at all. The only time I would is when my dr would prescribe me a hormone pill to force me to have one every 3 months or so. I have about 3 1/2 months out and just last month I got my very first cycle on my own. I am suppose to start again any day. So for me this surgery is helping regulate mine. I wasn't on BC prior to surgery because I had high blood pressure and my dr wouldn't put me on it. So now 3 1/2 months out, I have normal blood pressure and cycles (so I hope). Hope this helps I know everyone is different, but for me it has been amazing for my PCOS! -
79.8 Pounds lost... so close to wanting to be at 80 by the 1st of the month! I hope to be down 90 by the 14th for my 4 month goal at least

Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
Carly4HandinSD replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hmmm... how did I not see this Sept group before? I was sleeved on Sept 14th I still have a hard time getting in my protein and liquids. Shakes for me make my stomach want to do flips, same with any greek yogurts or cottage cheese. I add unflavored protein powder to things as much as I can. I am only drinking about 40 oz of water a day.. I feel that I should be able to get more liquids and protein in.. I already feel like I eat and drink all the time!! I am averaging around 40-50 protein daily, 700-800 cals, under 40 carbs... What are all your resources for protein in actual foods? I can eat about 2 oz of meat at a time (chicken, ground turkey, beef). I haven't had anything make me sick, I haven't thrown up once. I just know certain things make my tummy feel weird and I can't stand them after that.. I can only eat scrambled eggs if I don't cook them. Seeing them runny before being cooked makes me queasy and not be able to eat them! Overall though I have had a great experience and wish I had done this sooner. But I've done it now and that is all that matters -
I am a little over 3 months out and that is about all that I can eat.. maybe even less if its dense protein like chicken. My Nut has me eating 6 times a day.. 3 regular meals and 3 small snacks otherwise I was only about to get in about 3-400 calories.
