My surgery was July 25th, 2012. I'd be lying if I said that it was easy. I was scared more thank I can even explain. I questioned my decision so many times clear up until they wheeled me into the operating room. I was in tears in the pre-surgery area and that didn't stop until I was asleep. My doctor and the staff was so reassuring. I knew I was in good hands and I knew that they would all take care of me. When I woke up I felt like I had been hit by a truck! A semi to be specific. I don't remember saying this, but the first thing I asked my husband was "why did you run over me with your semi?" I guess the nurses got quite a chuckle out of this. They wondered why I chose a semi, but soon found out that my husband drove a semi. I slept most of the first day and I was in quite a bit of pain. Day 2 was the xray to make sure there were no leaks. The stuff they make you drink is NASTY! The only good thing is that you don't have to drink very much! I was scared to take my first drink, but it went ok. I did notice that I had burped a lot! That has subsided since the surgery. I am 4.5 weeks out now and I am struggling with getting enough water. I had to have iv fluids yesterday.I go back to work on Monday, and I'm a little nervous. I'm pretty sure that I'll be tired. Looking forward to what the future has to hold. I'm also looking forward to meeting many new friends on this site.
