5 more Sleeps until Surgery...

Best of luck Peaches9..let us know how you are doing.:clap2:
  2. I cannot see my port but I can definitely feel it. The first time I touched the area I freaked out because I didn't know what that hard bump was. All sorts of strange thoughts ran through my head and then I remembered the port!
  3. Hello Kero: You are not alone. We've all gone through what you are going through right now. Personally I worked myself up to such a frenzy that when I went in for my surgery I had a little fever and my blood pressure had skyrocketed. The pre-op diet sucks and yes you can only have cottage cheese and yogurt. Talk to the nurses at TLBC and see what's best for you. For me, they advised if it got really bad to have some chicken breast and perhaps they'll tellyou the same thing. I'm sorry you had a bad experience with one of the nurses there. I've had nothing but good experiences and I found everyone so friendly and helpful. All the best to you and keep posting. This website is a GREAT support system. Good luck to you.

I would love to join this thread so I'm going to tell you a little about myself: I'm 47 years old, never married, kissed many frogs but none turned into my prince. They are a sad and sorry lot. They work on the assumption that everyone is a liar and a cheat.

    Needing some advice!

Hello Miranda: I'm in the same boat as you right now. I was banded June 01 and my fill is July 16 and let me tell you now that I'm on solid foods it's not that easy. One thing I discovered is that my cravings are still there and my bad habits are back but I'm overeating a lot less. I have not lost a lot of weight since I've started on solids but friends who are banded have told me that once the restrictions happen your bad habits will be curtailed or ELSE!! :biggrin1: They advised me to enjoy this time pre-restrictions..so I'm going to tell you what they tell me..DON'T BEAT YOURSELF UP - YOUR TIME WILL COME. Hope it helps you to know you're not alone. Cheers.

    A thread for Single Bandsters

Hello to all: I found this thread by accident and I'm glad I did. I'm a newly banded (4 weeks) single girl. I think having this thread is great and I felt an affinity with all of you especially when I saw some of you like to cruise. I am a big cruiser and wished I had found this thread prior to booking my cruise in December 07. I would have loved to join you on the one you are organizing...oh well next time. I am 47 years old - never married (allergic) and live in Toronto, Canada. Looking forward to communicating with all of you.

    3rd fill

OK you're a freak . All kidding aside, I have the French Midband as well and I do find Ihave a bit of a restriction (have not had any fills yet). If I eat a little bit more at lunch/dinner I find it very uncomfortable. I also find I'm not that hungry in the morning. The downside is that the fullness does not last very long and I find I'm eating several times a day.

    It Works!!!!

At the bandsters lunch at Yorkdale, it was mentioned that Maral is going to Fort McMurray because her boyfriend works there. She'll still be doing stuff with TLBC - like the support conference calls. I've never met her but I have spoken to her once over the phone. She seems really nice.

    Banded Side!

Welcome to band world. I'm so glad things went really well for you. Hunger was normal for me. I was able to have the Isopro protein drink mixed with water the first few days. That really helped, but you're right 1/2 hr later I was hungry again. I would supplement with broths, popsicles, jell-o, apple and cranberry juices. The juices really helped. Personally I experienced my hunger getting worst as I moved to full fluids and now that I'm on pureed foods my hunger is under control but my cravings are running rampant :cry. I'm getting to the point that I can't wait to go in for my first fill. Good luck to you.

    And here goes another!

Ain't that chair the funniest thing? When I walked in the OR I told the nurses that they had the wrong room because even though I had a big belly I was not about to deliver... And then they told me the Dr was going to sit between my legs....my last words before I went off to la-la land was "thank God I waxed...I'm Italian you know" - apparently they all got a good chuckle out of that one (but I honestly don't remember saying it)..go figure!!

Removing tape glue and other tips

OK what am I doing wrong because nail polish remover is not working on the crazy glue on my stomach...
  17.
GUILTY AS CHARGED!!

I started on pureed foods on the 17th of June and today I was so hungry I decided to have a sandwich. Can I say STUPID? I felt the bread lodging and I STUPIDLY decided to drink some water. I p'ked some of it and I don't even have a restriction yet!!! Well now I now how that feels. After my initial panic attack passed and like a stupid puppy who doesn't know any better, I went back to the rest of my sandwich slowly chewing it and thoroughly enjoying it. I won't be doing that again until I'm off pureed foods....it just ain't worth it and I pray to God I did not do any damage....back to my purees and pudding....I can do it...I only have 9 days to go....by the way did anyone gain weight when starting the pureed stage? I haven't weighed myself but I feel a little bloated...

    Random questions

Hello to all: Like yourselves, my steri-strips started to come off 2 days after the procedure. On the 3rd day I removed the gauze and the hanging strips. In my port area I put on clean gauze so the exposed incision was protected until the 7th day. I did not have any issues with the incisions. Hats off to Dr. Yau for such clean cuts that healed so neatly. Now to my favourite topic - suntanning. I am a sun worshipper. My favourite sport? Lying in the sun comatosed . I use very good sun products and rarely burn. I think that's the trick. Tanning beds - forgedd about it!! They are bad bad bad.
  20. Hello: Anyone getting the first fill on July 16th at the TLBC? Would love to meet up and chat...

HELP! I'm on clear fluids need advice

You're right Consafo. Maral said it was OK to melt some parmesan cheese in the broth. I also found that the homemade broth would quell the hunger much better. I made my home with chicken skimming off the fat as it boiled, I made sure that it boiled to death so that all the protein from the chicken ended up in the broth.

    tlbc fills

Hello robgoblin87: I looked at my instruction sheet for my fills and here is what it says: "Please eat a light breakfast on the morning of your fills. Also, remember that you will be on liquids for 24 hours following your appointment. Remember to bring a bottle of water to your appointment - you will be asked to drink before you leave the Clinic to make sure your Band is not too tight."
