Thanks Tamara! Congrats to you as well. Like Tbrendon, I too will be having to have my gallbladder removed in the near future. I feel that it's a small price to pay considering how much healthier I am overall. My surgeon said that he has to do a cholecystectomy in about 2-4% of his post sleeve patients, and particularly if you are female.

Doing great so far! Wouldn't go back to the "old me" for anything in the world. This was the best decision I could have made!

Had My First Post Op Appointment Today
resqme3 replied to ladyscorpion's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on your success! My one month anniversary is the 17th as well and, like you, I have been fortunate enough to have no vomiting or food intolerances. Every day truly does seem to get better. -

Tell Me About Your Post Op Care?

I was sleeved on the 17th as well and I received the same instructions. I have an office visit on Thursday the 27th and my surgeon told me that he will be seeing me monthly for at least the next year. -
Wow! If they told me that I had to do that again, I think I would have screamed. I'm so sorry you had to go through that twice!
-
OMG! The leak test was the worst part of the whole procedure, My stomach was slow to move the contrast into the bowel, so it started cramping severely and I ended up vomiting up about half of the contrast liquid. Let me tell you, there are no words for how painfully awful that was.

Tomorrow Is The Big Day!
resqme3 replied to BigChrisATX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you tomorrow. I have to be at the hospital by 5:30am. Positive thoughts for all of us! -
I am also Monday and pretty nervous. Fortunately, I had very little asked of me as a pre op diet. I asked a couple of co workers who already had the surgery about the diet and they also said that they didn't really follow it and they are now doing beautifully with no complications. Good luck tomorrow! My surgeon moved my time up from 9:30am to 7:30am, so it'll be an early day for me.

I'm originally from Spring Lake, NJ and did some of my nursing school at Monmouth Medical Center. My surgeon also did his residency there. You're in good hands. Best of luck with your journey!

Congrats sleeve sister! I'm scheduled for Sept. 17th also. Here's to the next 2 weeks passing in the blink of an eye!

Super Nurses With Sleeves (Support Group)

Nice to see so many nurses here. I live in Orlando, FL and I've been an LPN for over 16 years. I have worked in everything from Med-Surg to school nursing and corrections to psych nursing, which is what I've been doing for the past 9 years. I learned about the sleeve procedure from a fellow nurse at work. I am lucky to have a handful of others at my job that are being/have been sleeved. I always have someone to turn to with my questions, and even doctor specific questions, as we are all using the same surgeon. My first appt. was in June and I was just approved by my insurance yesterday, so things moved pretty quickly. I have scheduled my surgery for Sept. 17th. Really looking forward to feeling better and living healthier. -
I think I'm very fortunate. I first learned about the surgery from a co-worker and now there are so many of us at my workplace that are being sleeved, that we are thinking of getting together for a group photo to give the doctor once we all have our new bodies. It has been wonderful in regards to support. I always have someone to turn to with any questions that I may have. Fortunately, my family has been supportive as well.
