    6 days PRE OP!

your taste buds may change after surgery...so you don't want to stock up on supplies too much... the night before I was a wreck...couldn't sleep...so excited... tylenol pm helped me...I put on a "happy" movie and fell asleep watching it (usually takes me about an hour after I take it to doze off) Best thing I ever did for ME! Good luck! BTW, you may qualify for free Protein shakes, Vitamins and scar cream by filling out the form on InsureNutrition.com....comes right to your door every month!
  2. While any surgery is scary, the alternative is scarier! It's done laproscopically now, so it's less stress on your body. This was only my 3rd surgery...gall bladder and hysterectomy previously...all within 5 years. I was more excited than nervous when I was scheduled as I truly believed in my decsion and how my new tool would help me. Very little problems (dehydration...but that was on me...but it wasn't severe) The first few days of the pre-op liquid diet are the worst as your body de-toxes...but it should be easier and you get closer. Also you can go to InsureNutrition.com to see if you qualify for Protein shakes, Vitamins and scar cream all covered by your insurance. We are here to help you...but trust in the program! It is the best thing I EVER did for ME!
  3. I filled out the form for InsureNutrition.com online myself...in no time I was approved (thru insurance) and I got Protein shakes, Vitamins, and scar cream delivered to my door.... They are great! I tell EVERYONE about it!

No more chewables! Tell me about your vitamins?

I get my bariatric vitamins (big and icky...but effective) from InsureNutrition.com along with my protein shakes and scar cream ... you may qualify for free products as well by filling out the form on the website...they do all the rest of the work; and once a month it's delivered to my door

    Opinion about coat?

@Miss Mac I'm originally from Chicago...now in Savannah (so nice here) ... going home for Christmas...had to dig in closet to find clothes to wear there... no coat on earth is warm enough for the midwest! LOL

    Opinion about coat?

I would do the goodwill/salvation army run...for a few bucks you should be able to find a decent coat (check mens too) to get you thru until you can get a new one in the RIGHT size ... or at least until you get a good sale... I bought 3 pairs of jeans last weekend for under $15!!! It's so nice to be able to find my "new" size in something I can afford... I work in a call center, so I see NO ONE all day long... so casual attire is done here... I hate spending big money on clothes... maybe that will change now, but I doubt it
  7. @nikki9 FMLA is the same amount of days per year for everyone... if you have more than one chronic condition... you are suppose to get approved for each...but they can't ask you why you are taking FMLA days once you are approved

    And here I go....

some people struggle with it...mine wasn't too bad for me... i had a headache for a few days as I "de-toxed"...but after that was over, I found it easy to follow. I've stopped drinking carbonated beverages and have never looked back! Good luck...let us know how things go

    Best protein bars

Most of us use Quest bars...at my place, I buy one box and get another 1/2 price...also PowerCrunch... I also make my own Protein donuts from a recipe from Eggface
  13. Wow...that's so sad...guess I'm lucky...I go to a bariatric center of excellence, so they are focused on good eating and understand the genetics of the problem. My therapist teaches Success Habits and is an addiction counselor AND she had WLS about 10 years ago and is still maintaining... she is PERFECT...love her to pieces!!! I guess, as always, everyone is different...for once, I am one of the lucky ones

    Surgery tomorrow, some questions.

I have anxiety issues too...but, like I said, I was more excited than nervous, I couldn't sleep the night before... but, fortunately my surgery was first thing...and they put you right out....nighty night ... when you wake up, you think it's been minutes, not hours... let us know how it goes for you!

    Sleeve vs. Banding

I know a lot of doctors are getting a way from the band as it's not as good as once thought...many insurance companies won't cover it because it's reverseable (sp?).Personally, after review of the option, the sleeve was the way to go for me, as you remove some stomach but still maintain your regular food flow so you keep your nutrients. My doctor said he won't do the band on someone with more than 100 pounds to lose, it just is not restrictive enough for them... good luck on whatever you choose...do your research, ask questions, the bottom line is ... it's YOUR choice!
  16. patience grasshopper...this will come...and then you will miss these days focus on the water...then the protein right now If you are truly concerned, see/call your doctor. It does take time...it says your surgery date was in October...so not sure how far out you are...but those first few weeks (month) you will have to adjust a lot...so just give it time...follow as best you can

    Surgery tomorrow, some questions.

@msveej30 I had gallbladder surgery a few years ago...that was my first surgery...it was horrible...I had an attack just before Christmas and had to stay in the hospital for the surgery after Christmas, and my recovery time was more than for my WLS...this is laproscopic...so much better these days... it's a very good thing!

    Surgery tomorrow, some questions.

we've all been there...yo-yo'd...I have been "maintaining" for a year now... I would like to lose more, but I have physical issues (soon to be addressed since I have lost enough weight for surgery) ... once my knees are replaced, plan on go...go...going! the tool you recieve with this surgery is such a gift... I can't even begin to tell you how it's turned my life around so far!!!

    What's for breakfast?

I love Breakfast... I boil a dozen eggs in the beginning of the week to be ready. Another quick option, scramble an egg in a mug, add some cheese, nuke for 30 seconds, add more cheese (if you wish), nuke another 20 minutes... it remains hot in the mug so you can take it to go only one dirty dish easy, hot, ready in a minute! If I don't have anything, I go to McDonalds and have them do an Egg McMuffin, without the muffin and cheese in the middle (so it doesn't stick to wrapper)...
  20. this is very common...could be you are eating too fast or what you are drinking has caffeine...etc etc etc... Since you are not saying it's gas, walking won't help... Call your doctor, tums alone may not do it at this stage, you may need prilosec or something... call him and get some help...this will pass

    Surgery tomorrow, some questions.

relax! You are not clear on how you think you rushed the surgery option. I can tell you, I wish I did this DECADES ago... I feel so much better and more in control than I ever have. I was SO READY for the surgery, I couldn't wait! You don't list your weight or specifics...but all I can say, if you have been approved, go for it and follow the program, it is meant for success, as are you!
  22. btw...gotta just say... I bought a microwave pressure cooker from QVC...I LOVE it! I can cook 2 lbs of chicken thighs with a myriad of sauces in about 20 minutes (as an example) ... quick and easy!!! My kind of cooking lol great recipes included

When does it all become too much to handle?

lot of great comments and thoughts here one thing I JUST started doing is yoga/meditation...as I live in a constant state of anxiety (medication helps)... and am amazed how much giving myself that time each day is helping... not saying it's for everyone, but yoga is good for all of us to keep those joints moving and making us more fit ... I am looking foward to my next class... and learning how to manage life better... good luck to you all... it's absolutely the best decision I've ever made (to have the surgery) I wish I had done it YEARS ago!
  24. @RJ'S/beginning once again we are in sync ... I was not much of a "domestic goddess"...I guess I'm still not...but I enjoy making things now... I made a spaghetti bake the other day with spaghetti squash and diced up tofu (yes I never thought I'd eat that stuff either) into the ricotta and no one knew it was there! It is the way I'm going to do spaghetti squash from now on. I love parmesan chips, and cooking with cauliflower instead of potatoes...even my husband loves smashed cauliflower instead of potatoes (don't know what's going on with my computer) it's entering things weird......................................... Our focus now is on the company and not the food!

HELP, what is wrong with me?

I was like @RJ'S/beginning totally ready for the change in my life... I was more excited than scared. But we all approach things differently, and that's cool... pretty much the same as above...I couldn't MOVE, seriously, to walk to the bathroom, I had to use a walker...now 125 pounds down I can FUNCTION like a human being again :) Good luck...you've got this!
