I've been thinking of weight loss surgery for a few years but didn't want to do the by-pass. Was heading toward the lapband but really didn't want a foreign object in my body. It also seemed a little high maintenance too. I researched and found the Sleeve. It sounded perfect for me... if something had to be done to help me. I told myself for the past 3 years if I didn't lose weight by the end of the year, I would check out the surgery. Finally I decided it was time.
I weighed 118 pounds when I got married. I didn't gain my weight until after my first child then went up a little each year.
I work at home and I noticed I was becoming more and more recluse. At my weight of 320 pounds, people just stared at me. Made me feel like a freak. I just said I wanted to be "normal." I felt bad for anyone who had to be with me out in public. My husband of 40 years said he didn't mind but I think he was just being nice.
I have a daughter that moved to Denver 5 years ago and I have never visited her because I won't get on a plane. She would visit us. After a visit, we took her to the airport and I headed to the Seminar for weight loss surgery. That was when my journey began for the sleeve. I made it through my insurance requirements and ready to begin the final steps to surgery when there was a staff change and surgeries were backed up to the end of the year. I was ready with all testing but as of 2013 my insurance changed then I had to go through the approval process and their requirements. By February 2013 I had my approval. I received a call from the surgery scheduler and my surgery appointment was set 6 days later. I stopped eating my breakfast and started on the liquid diet. It came quickly and before you know it I was sleeved.
