  1. My husband wasn't very happy about my having the surgery either. He made it an unhappy experience until my surgery. He knew i wasn't backing out because I needed to do this for me to be healthy. We have been married almost 41 years. He did support me and tried not to complain but wasn't happy. Now that I am post surgery, he has been very helpful. He takes really good care of me. He is happy and asked all the time how much weight I lost. He is proud of me and tells his family about my progress. He has also lost weight too. He sees what I eat and trys to stay close to that (except the small amount). Just reassure him why you are doing this. I wish the best for you.

Hi erikh - I was aslso sleeved by this surgeon. It went very well for me. I think she did a great job. She has a very good bedside manner. I had a hard time making up my mind whether to have this surgery too. I have to say, I am very pleased. I am down 44 pounds post surgery (Feb 13, 2013). I couldn't do that on my own. The first week after surgery I have to admit that I questioned myself why I would do that to myself but it gets better after that. The main thing is to follow instruction and take care of yourself. Check out this forum all the time and read as often as you can. I lived on it (and still do) to learn as much as I can before and after surgery. Some parts will be scary because things do happen but the majority is good news. I had to do this surgery because I was tired of being abnormal and unhealthy; I also couldn't do it on my own. All is getting better all the time. I wish you luck in your decision and surgery if you decide to do that. Feel free to ask my anything you want. I will be glad to help.

Hi asifitsthelast - I am doing very well. How are you doing?
  4. What helps me get my protein in without those sweet protein drinks is to warm some broth (not too hot) then add unflavored protein or pea protein. Pea protein makes the broth taste a little like split pea soup. Much better than the sweet all the time. Also I add a teaspoon of Beechnut turkey or chicken baby food to my 2-3 ounces of creamed soup for added protein. I seem to be doing well, dropping about 2 pounds a day. This is wonderful. I haven't been 278 for a very long time.
  5. Hi, I have been reading all the posts. I am now able to participate. I was sleeved February 13, 2013. I found out my surgery date 6 days before surgery. I started in May 2012 with the seminar. My insurance changed the beginning of 2013 and since I couldn't make it in by end of year 2012 I had to wait for approval. If I updated you on how I felt throughout the process, I could just about copy everyones post. It was nice reading everyone was experiencing the same things. I am feeling pretty good now, just stomach cramping. It's a full time job getting in all the liquids. Congratulation to you all.

How are you doing today. You have been on my mind. Been praying for you. How long have you been in the hospital? Take it easy and rest.

asifitsthelast, how are you doing? Did you go back to the doctor? I live in eastern NC and have the same doctor. I am not sleeved yet, waiting for approval from insurance company. Your story concerns me a little. I hope you are feeling better quickly. Let us know how you are doing.
