Seeing A Therapist
stephers99 replied to AutumnPunkin's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Don't worry about being judged... and let your therapist know that this is something you worry about. It is definitely a common thought, and something that is commonly worked on in therapy. Just make sure you pick someone you are comfortable talking to, or you might not be able to fully work out your issues. There's a site (therapists.psychologytoday.com) that has profiles of therapists (you can search by location) and it identifies a lot of aspects of their therapy styles (specialties, issues they are open to working on, treatment approaches, modalities, client focus) in addition to free text about them, their practice, etc. I just started therapy again and I found the site helpful in trying to find a therapist. -

So Upset With Myself

Milk in cereal is more comparable to soup or chili than it is to drinking during a meal. If you down the milk left in the bowl after you've eaten all the cereal, then I would call that drinking with a meal, but the small amount of milk in your spoonful of cereal is not. Unless you also consider soup with veggies in it or chili with beans as also being off limits because it is a combination of liquid with solids. -
I also have no idea what its like to be thin. I was active when I was younger but always at the top of the weight charts as a child. So it'll be interesting to see how my mind reacts as I continue losing weight! I'm still the largest in my department at work, among my friends, in my family.... so it'll also be interesting to see how my weight loss impacts relationships in those arenas.

Did the surgeon have an opinion on this?

July Sleevers----Where Ya At? :-)

Update, weighed in at 240 today at my pcp's office, so now down 40+ pounds! A little more info, I'm 5'5", sleeved 7/23. Previous weigh in was about 3 weeks ago, and I'm down 11 lbs since that one. -

I was sleeved July 23. Started around 280, last weigh in at md's office had me at 252 (about a week and a half ago). I think I've lost some more, and quit the dang stall that lasted from 2 weeks postop till just before last weigh in, but don't know for sure since scale at home is not trustworthy. But scrubs at work are looser! -
My soft food diet list allows for cold cereals (rice krispies, kix, Cheerios, etc)- for my plan, this stage is where a nutritionally balanced diet is the goal, so they fall into the starch category, of which I'm supposed to eat a couple of servings a day.
