Wow! 45 mins to eat? I was told by my dietician to follow the 30-20-30 rule. I don't drink anything for 30 before....take 20 mins to eat because anything longer your body starts digesting and you can just keep eating trying to fill up your stomach....then nothing to drink for another 30 mins. I usually start my day around 7am and get everything including vitamins, water, meals and protein drinks done by 9pm.

Walking really helped me. I walked all around the hospital floor I was staying on. Faithfully every 2 hrs i would do a lap or 2. It didnt last long for me thank goodness! I can sympathize tho, those gas pains are the worst! Good luck!

Wow! That's so clever! -
I was on liquids for 1 week then I was allowed to eat solids. My dr office doesn't have a soft food phase. They just told us we have to learn to eat and to make sure we take our time and chew to applesauce consistency. I've had no problems with it

Winter coat, weight loss gauge!
MrsG replied to SusieK710's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too! I'm noticing some of my shirts that were snug or even tight are fitting much more loose now! I don't have a scale either. I figured in these first months I will only weigh when I see my dr. I am 2 weeks post op today and while getting ready to go to the store I took my time doing my hair and make up and was noticing my face looks thinner. I love the way I feel! I don't want a scale to depress me with stalls, etc. I'm just enjoying the ride right now and looking forward to when I actually do weigh again! -
I'm 2weeks out today and on my first week I had gained 10lbs from IV fluids and lost the 10lbs of fluids and 3lbs extra. But I did a lot of walking! I have to say I was kinda bummed, you would think living off fluids for a week you'd lose like 20lbs! I haven't weighed myself again yet. I'm not sure i will for a while. I don't want to be on the scale every other day or get depressed when I go through a stall. And if I weigh once a month in the beginning ill be less likely to notice the stalls and get discouraged. That's just my plan tho.

Hope that didnt sound harsh. I agree with some of the other posts, you worry about you and your health right now. And ever let anyone steal your joy! You are on the right track and soon you will look and feel awesome!

Personally, I would say something. Maybe send out a blanket email "thanks for the flowers, oh wait I didn't get any from you guys"...point is you should say something or it's going to bother you. I just wouldn't contribute to things like that anymore. I understand wanting to do nice things for your coworkers but really, they are just coworkers. Not your friends. And if you depend on them being friends and they treat you like this maybe you should reconsider who your friends are.

My eyes were blurry while I was in the hospital and maybe 2 days after I was released. They are ok now. I'm wondering if its a side affect from the anesthesia?

Those look amazing! Stupid question do you cook the egg first? And are you putting them in muffin tins?

I just had surgery 1/15 and mine has been dark off and on. In the hospital I had a little container that caught my urine and the nurse would check it and flush it. She never remarked about the color so I'm thinking its "normal" for now especially if you re drinking all your water and it sounds like you are.

*pics* 6'1", half way to goal and feeling great!
MrsG replied to TallGirl300's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's why I took the advice on here and made myself take before pictures, because I know I'm still going to see me as heavy even when I lose. I just got sleeved 1/15 and am looking forward to comparing my pictures to see the change. You looked beautiful before and you look beautiful now! Good job on your weight loss! So excited for you! -

My dr submitted to my insurance for a duodenal switch which means if the sleeve doesn't work I can go back and get the rny and its all covered. Can they do that for you? I would try the sleeve first and if you have problems you could go back, if thats an option you have. If I was in your shoes and had to choose rny or nothing I would chose rny but that's me. I'm sorry about your hernia, good luck with whatever you decide!

Was just wondering if anyone know what they do different during surgery for someone with sleep apnea? I'm thinking I have it but haven't received the official diagnose yet from dr. All I know is I panicked when I had to wear the mask half way into my sleep study and I'm having anxiety thinking about going under anesthesia and waking up in a panick. Do they make you wear a mask while under? I was just curious what they do different with sleep apnea patients. I've never been put under nor had any type of surgery before either. Thanks!

Well I'm from AZ and I have Blue Cross Blue Sheild and had to show a 5 year history of obesity. I had 2012, 2011, nothing for 2010, 2009 and nothing for 2008. So what I did was asked for medical records from 2007 (an extra year) and then I wrote a letter to the insurance stating that I had no need to see a dr for 2008 and 2010. The lady at the bariatrics who deals with the insurance says it happens and a letter just explains why it's missing. I'm submitting all my requirements and letters to the insurance next week. So maybe get what you can even if it's farther back. Hope that helps.
