C pap Gone ! Zzzzzzz
MrsG replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's awesome! Sleeved 1/15, down 50lbs and my husband says I've gone from sounding like a freight train to a very light snore if he even hears me at all! My sleep dr won't do another sleep study til I get to goal so I'm still using my bipap but the setting went from blowing super hard down to a light breeze! Can't wait to get off of it! So yay for you!! -
Prevacid comes as over the counter 15mg and prescription which is 30mg. I would say 2 tablets would be enough. I'm on protonix which is 40mg. So I'm thinking the 40mg is a typo on your paperwork? If you're unsure just call your dr office and I'm sure they can tell you

I hardly have any Protein HELP
MrsG replied to carvel23's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Does your dr require you to keep drinking the Protein drinks? For me I make sure my meals have lots of protein. I choose things like fish, chicken or turkey (I can't have beef or pork yet for 1 more week) and Snacks I try to do a piece of turkey lunch meat or some Beans. I put protein first before anything else like veggies or fruit. I'm not saying I'm perfect and there are days I come up short and that's when I use the Protein shake to supplement. I like muscle milk vanilla ice cold! Cold being the key! I was sleeved 1/15 and lost 32lbs my first month (I only weigh at dr appts and I have one coming up) so 35lbs is great! -
I agree, walk! Don't let yourself get too comfortable just sitting. Your body will heal much better if you're up walking or moving around. This too shall pass....it gets better! You're still fresh from surgery but the further out you get the better you will feel! Congratulations! Welcome to the sleeved side!
-
I try to do the same. I was sleeved 1/15 and I've only weighed 3times since at dr appts. I don't wanna become scale obsessed, of course I take measurements once a week and that's encouraging enough!

I can't eat yogurt. I've tried and as soon as the first spoonful hits my stomach I get a really sick feeling like I need to throw up. I didn't but I sure wanted to. It lets me know pretty quick.

Omg! That was crazy! You know, I was just telling my husband Monday night after watching it that I'm done. I think Jillian is a complete witch and I love how she says that she used to be overweight. I seriously doubt it. I'm sorry but at my current weight there is NO WAY I would be able to run on a treadmill the way they expect the contestants to without blowing out a knee! The way they get on the scale and lose 7lbs and look disappointed that it wasn't more, makes me sick. You can tell they've most likely been brainwashed! Thanks for posting this article, I'm so over this show now!

What 100 pounds less of a Gamer looks like
MrsG replied to TheGamer's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Yes you look awesome! Good job! -
I agree with moregoodtimes, so long as you measure out what you are eating clean your plate. I am a total plate cleaner! I even use little saucer plates instead of big ones and I measure what I eat first. Helps a lot!

I took melatonin for a little while after surgery due to insomnia. It helped a lot. Now I'm good to go, I have no problems getting right to sleep. Itching was a pain but then from another thread someone mentioned Palmers Cocoa Butter and omg! It's awesome! I don't have dry patches/ itching anymore and my skin feels so smooth and soft!

What kind of cup are you drinking from?
MrsG replied to two_boysmom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a Water bottle that holds 33oz and I know I have to drink at least 2 of those a day. I lose count if I have to go by cups, etc. and I'm not using a straw til I'm 8 weeks out (1more week) then I plan on using one. I drink more when it's thru a straw. -

I would say a few days also. The only thing you might have an issue with is you can't lift anything over 10lbs for a few weeks, but you should be ok otherwise.

Have your feelings/addictions about food changed?
MrsG replied to asmaclare's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
1. Do you look FORWARD to your meals and Snacks? Only when I'm hungry, otherwise it's kind of a chore. 2. Do you ENJOY what you eat? Yes! You can only eat a little bit so you try to make it count. 3. Do you feel satisfied with the taste given how little you can actually eat? Yes, I try to find things that have good flavor. I've also added a lot more spices to my cupboard. 4. Do you feel better the further out you get when you do get to eat a little more? Yes. I'm 7 weeks out and it gets better when you can add variety to what you are eating. 5. Do you feel the majority of sleevers can eat whatever they want, so long as the portion is right? For me, I've been able to stay away from sweets with no problem. Now salty that's another thing. I did eat a few chips the other day, maybe 10 or so and felt so sick. The grease doesn't sit well with me. So I'm not to interested in feeling like that again so I avoid it. 6. How has your feelings or attitudes changed about food? I look at it now as fuel that my body needs. I was sad about that at first but now it's ok. It kinda grosses me out to watch people eat now, even normal size portions. It just looks like so much food, even tho I used to eat that and more before surgery. 7. Is there anything you really wish you could eat, that you can't? (And if so, do you get over that?) Nope. My dietician encourages you to have a normal relationship with food and if you want something that is considered "bad", eat a bite or 2 and get rid of it but don't deprive yourself. But honestly I haven't wished I could eat anything in particular. I will say that as long as I'm eating every few hrs and getting in my Protein I'm good to go but if I go longer than 3-4 hrs without eating I could make a bad choice and eat something I would regret later. 8. Can you still eat spicy foods? (curries, peppers, etc) I can but I try not to and only because I follow the no Water 30 mins before and after eating rule to a T. So if i eat something spicy ill want to drink sooner than I should defeating the purpose of the sleeve as a tool. Hope this helps! -
The Good, the Bad, but Mostly, the UGLY
MrsG replied to Newnay's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had to have help wiping after I went pee in the hospital the first day. I was so embarrassed but it hurt to bend/reach down even a little bit. Then I had to sit on this metal thing they slid over the toilet so I wouldnt have to squat down to pee. I wore no underwear the entire 2 days after surgery while in the hospital, they took them from me right before surgery. I had diarrhea for several days once I was released then it turned to constipation so painful I thought I would die. Now I eat refried Beans, garbanzo beans, any kind of beans at least once a day and no more constipation. The shots in the stomach suck! I had to do them for 2 weeks after surgery and when I was done my stomach looked like a battleground. I also have a hard lump where I gave myself the injections. It's smaller now at 7 weeks post op but I just felt for it and its about the size of a marble now. I get hiccups now when my sleeve is full and they are loud! That's my cue to stop eating and thankfully has kept me from puking. Eating now is just to fuel my body. The first 2 bites of something are awesome then it's just mechanical and refueling. In the beginning I was hungry a lot and a lot of it was probably head hunger which sucks cuz you can't do much about it. I journal a lot and it's good therapy for me. Then there are days like today I haven't been hungry all day but ya gotta eat to stay healthy.... That's been my ugly so far. Now if you were to ask me if anything has been so ugly I regret my decision to have had the surgery I would tell you no way! I've lost weight, my energy is awesome and I feel better every day! -
My doctor said as soon as I felt ready.

Congratulations!! Prayer out to you as well! The gas pains suck! Keep moving, it really does help!

Yes! I'm 7 weeks out today and I'm still sensitive to things that are too sweet. It was worse right after surgery. I was drinking those bariatric crystals (vitamins) and they literally started hurting my stomach. I almost threw up the last times drank them, too sweet! I found it easier to just stick to Water then. Now I use the Dassani drops or Mio drops to flavor my water and those you can control how sweet or not sweet you want your drink To me tuna tasted like I just sucked on a handful of pennies! And i loved it before surgery....Weird what our bodies do!
