Wow....I'm so sorry to hear about your brother Laura. This scares me because I have a brother who is an alcoholic. Actually his drug of choice is robitussin. He's been on that and alcohol for years. Since high school I believe. He's had numerous DUIs and accidents. He's been in rehab many times. I can totally relate when you say how critical your brother was while in recovery as mine becomes the same way. He starts something and becomes obsessed, things like smoking or chewing tobacco etc. I worry for him all the time, were pretty close and he is my only sibling. I'm like you in that this surgery is my last resort and I have to make it work. I let myself get to 427lbs and I never want to be there again! I try to stay positive and realistic also. I don't want to throw in another thing in place of food to be addicted to. I just want to be normal! I don't know what else to say except that what you shared touched me. Addiction scares me because I can see what it does to loved ones. I only hope and pray that this works for me and I can finally find peace within myself.

I don't necessarily have a day I commit to eating "bad things" but if I want something bad enuf I will have a bite. Right or wrong? Well I'm sure there are others who won't go there at all. My dr wants me to eat like a skinny person. A skinny person will have a bite of something if they want it. I will say that since surgery I haven't had cake. Not even a little bite. Cake is my gateway food so to speak. It would start me on a bad path of justification and I would only sabotage myself in the end. I mostly eat healthy, bad food is what got me where I am today and I'm really trying to change old habits. But thats not to say I have been to the movies and not had a few bites of popcorn I always track and account for anything that goes in my mouth. IMO you didn't do too bad today and the sleeve only let's you eat very little of anything anyway. Only you can decide for yourself. Is having one day that you eat bad and could return to old habits worth it?

My nut suggested Cliff bars. I really like them AND most Circle Ks (or convenient stores) carry them.

I'm waiting til goal to get mine done as well, in the meantime I found an old good band that was too small that fits now so I wear it to keep my wedding set on. Works pretty well for now, until I lose out of this band too

If you go to the Special Interest tab there is a tab under that for PCOS

Please don't judge me. I see why people said you can become an alcoholic after surgery.

No judgement here either! I've had one weekend since surgery that I drank. We went to Vegas. I stalled right after that! It was a few weeks ago and it took that long to get my body back on tack and the scale moving again. I read that when you drink it kicks you out if ketosis. Soooo, no more drinking for me til I get closer to goal. Just something to think about. I agree with John, keep it out of your house if its a temptation for you. And if you need to talk to someone, hopefully you have after care with a psychologist. Certainly no shame in talking to someone about it! good luck! -
Omg you crack me up! Lol!

Oh man that's freaky! I've been scared to get the flu and have to throw up. Wonder what to do if it got stuck? Yikes. Sorry your throwing up!

I can say that mine started off as a medical problem. I have PCOS and I KNOW ppl will think I blame that a lot. BUT I've had it since I started my period. If you look up the side effects of PCOS I have every single one of them. Most importantly is easy weight gain and it's really hard to get the weight off. I'm not like some of the posters who have done weight watchers and lost a hundred pounds and then gained it back. I would kill myself eating very few calories and going to the gym doing cardio for an hour at a time sometimes twice a day and would only see a pound gone in a month. It was extremely frustrating. I've battled weight my entire life without even trying. Ok that being said, I think a part if me gave up and just embraced food as a friend and gave in. I was one of those who said "but I don't eat very much" well after surgery, I'm seeing how much I really did eat and it makes me ill! I am so thankful for this surgery! For the first time in my life going to the gym and eating healthy is paying off! I've lost 60lbs!! I've never been able to do that on my own! I see and realize now that I'm a total food addict! But i am working on it! Every day! My name is Michelle and I am a food addict!

I've lost around the band part but not the cup!

You're not supposed to push yourself to be full. It's no fun, trust me. You feel sick and uncomfortable for a long time after eating. If you're feeling satisfied you're good to go, especially if you're following your drs instructions. An example of your sleeve not working is eating more than 3oz at 3 weeks and still feeling hungry. You are doing fine!

Me too!! Wow, you look gorgeous! Nice job! -
Do you sleep with a bipap/cpap? I was having that and had to have my bipap turned way down as it was too high on air pressure.

Just make sure you take Water with you and remember to drink it. I live in AZ and it was pretty warm after I had surgery. But also my body temp changed and I was cold a lot, so no sweating which is how you lose water. Even if its hot you should be good to go and I also agree with the other poster who said not everyone has a problem with drinking water. I never had any issues. Water was easy and still is easy for me to drink with no issues.

I was told no tanning for 1 year.....I was told that at my 1 month post op class! Too late! I had already layed out several times. I love laying in the sun and I do it a lot. Also, I thought it would help my incisions to heal quicker. Oops! Anyhow, I was told it was because it will make your scars darker and guess what? Mine are purple. I'm 2 1/2 months out and they are completely healed but they are dark purple. Oh well. I don't really care, I still rock a 2 piece. But if you want your scars to be light in color I suggest covering them up.
