At 6 days I was eating Jello, chicken broth, hot tea and Water. I was walking every few hours to keep away from blood clots. And I had my first emotional outburst of tears! First and only thank goodness!

Congratulations and welcome to the other side! -
I had very little pain also. Just felt like I got kicked in the stomach or did a bunch of sit-ups. The gas pains do suck. Feels like you need to fart pretty bad but you can't. I didn't use gas x strips and some ppl will tell you they work great. I used a heating pad (which worked awesome) and did a lot of walking which helps too! After day 3 I was good to go with discomfort and no more gas pain.

I have worse breath than my dog!
MrsG replied to bmbrush413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's a good sign. Means you're in ketosis! I chew gum all the time. They just don't want you swallowing it because it could get stuck. I never swallow my gum so I chew all the time. When the bad breath stopped I knew I was in a stall even without getting on the scale. After a few weeks it was back and I was happy again cuz I knew I was losing again! Lol! -
Stopped Losing Weight!
MrsG replied to nck12nicholspd's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree with Veronica and Jerseygirl, my dr doesn't want us getting Protein from shakes once we get thru the first few weeks. Better to get your protein from real food. Yogurt has a ton of protein! -
Very normal. There are lots of threads on dry skin. Make sure you are getting in your Water. And Palmers cocoa butter was recommended to me on here and it has been a godsend! I love it! It smells good and leaves your skin so soft!

Over 3 months out and skin issues..
MrsG replied to Huntingnurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 19 I would think you still have lots of elasticity in your skin still! As we get older and the longer we are heavy the elasticity is just not as good. If you've lost 75lbs and are not seeing lose skin that's awesome! Soooo jealous! -
First, I'm so sorry about your mom. My mom is 59 also, so very young still. If you were close, like i am with mine, I can only imagine what you must be going thru. As far as getting to your goal weight, I agree with gmanbat, get back to your basics. Get back to an eating plan and stick with it. Track what you eat, exercise and get in that Water. I've heard of people doing "boot camps" to get you back on track. I'm sure if you type in boot camp in the search bar the specific name of ones people have used will pop up. You can do this! You've done it before! Good luck and take care Michelle

Nicely done Fiddleman!! Sweet stats! You've done well! Congratulations! Oh PS my anniversary is tomorrow and guess what gift card my MOTHER gave us?? Stinking COLD STONE!! I immediately thought of you and was cracking up! My husband will be taking that gift card! Lol! -
It's true this surgery is not for everyone. If you are thinking this is going to be easy, get the surgery, sit back and watch the weight come off you will be in for a rude awakening. Nothing can really prepare you for all the life changes that come with this. You won't truly understand it til you go thru it. Do I regret it?? Absolutely not. Am I sad that I can't eat like I used to? Sometimes. Do I miss feeling unhealthy and winded walking around Walmart? NO!! You go thru so much emotionally and physically with this surgery. Drs are not lying when they say this is a total life change. You have to change everything from what you eat to how you view food. If you are not ready for change it's not a good idea to have major surgery IMO. I say this not to scare you or try to change your mind. I had a flawless surgery and amazing recovery. I've lost 53lbs since surgery and 67 with pre op diet In less than 3 months. I wouldn't change a thing. I love my new life. But I had to decide that I was ready to change my life no matter what was asked of me by my drs. I was 100% ready. If you are scared that is completely understandable but if you are undecided then take some more time til you feel ready. Hope that helps! Good luck in your decision!

3 month follow up today..
MrsG replied to soccergirl88's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh good point!! I forgot that the op isn't really working out. To the op yes, it is easier to eat more once you start working out. At least it was for me. -

Are you eating Snacks? I eat 3 meals and 2-3 snacks daily. Even if I'm not particularly hungry I still eat something every 2-3 hours. Increasing frequency in eating helps. 48 lbs is great! I was sleeved on 1/15 and I'm at around 800 calories now. -
I was told by my dr at my 2 month post op appt it was ok to take once in awhile but not on a regular basis. I would give your dr office a call first.

Whats the hardest part for you?!
MrsG replied to Red_lips_and_confidence's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Head hunger is crazy. You don't realize how much you grazed til after surgery. Head hunger is not real hunger. I could've just eaten and want something 15 mins later. It's important to put your eating on a schedule of some sort. Like only eat when it's planned. Not because you're bored or just want to eat. I plan out 3 meals and 2 Snacks. It's what works for me. My head hunger is getting better but there are times like when it's that time of month I want to eat off plan. Basically if your stomach growls and it's been a while since you ate you probably really are hungry, but if you just ate 30 mins ago and want something it's probably all in your head Hope that helps. -
