Ok I tried using the search function but couldn't come up with an answer. I would just like to know how many carbs I should be eating a day. I don't eat any grains but things like beans and crab also have carbs. I'm almost 3 months out and want to make sure I'm not overdoing it with the carbs! Thanks!

Depression 6 months after sleeve?
MrsG replied to happytobehere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 3months out and I have recently been feeling blue for no reason. Everything is great in my life and yet lately any little thing can make me feel sad. I thought that only happened in the first or second month. I just try to put myself in a happy mood. I try not to dwell on sad things. I have to say also that it takes very little for me to cry lately and I'm not normally a crier. I just figure my body is hormonally challenged for probably this first year or til I hit goal and my hormones calm down. -
Isn't that an awful feeling? I did that the other night because I was trying to hurry so we could leave to go somewhere and all I really succeeded in doing was make myself feel awful before we left! It took about an hour to pass, ugh!

Idk, I wake up in the morning and feel kinda nauseated too. Water hurts my tummy that early also. My dr wants me to eat within an hour of waking. Breakfast was sooo hard for me to eat pre surgery and just as hard now but I do it. I end up feeling better after I choke down something. So maybe it is in fact hunger related. I feel fine the rest of the day, just mornings I feel kind of gross.

I stayed 2 nights also. I agree, 1 would've been enough.

Not even 2wks out n only have lost 11.3lbs
MrsG replied to emr80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone's body reacts different. Just because you don't see a dramatic weight loss in the first 2 weeks doesn't mean it's not going to happen. Your body is thoroughly out of whack right now. It will catch up and start to come off. Be patient, it'll happen. Just keep doing what you are doing and trust the process. Concentrate on your Water and Protein, those are especially important for you right now. Good luck! -

Yay! Lookin good! -
Oh wow! I'm sorry to hear you have a leak! But I'm so glad you are getting medical attention! And that's good news that you won't need surgery to fix it. I agree with Laura, don't be shy about asking for help with your kids. I also agree, take it one day at a time, you will get thru this! Sending a prayer your way!

2 months PO - Food is suddenly unappetizing again?
MrsG replied to katikati's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's so weird! I had the same issue recently and I'm almost 3 months out. I figured it must be ketosis, so it's a good thing! I had been having a stall and as soon as stuff started tasting funny again the scale moved. -
3 months post op and I found my collar bones!
MrsG replied to Taylor Webster's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yay!! Collarbones!! Hope I get to see mine soon too! Lookin good! Way to go! -
Don't be scared! If you are cleared, start eating solid foods! I'm betting you will start feeling better when you do. You will be able to get in more Protein and have more energy. The want may not be there but to stay healthy we just have to make ourselves do what we gotta do. I really think you'll feel better once you start eating solid foods. You get to chew again and that in itself makes you feel more "normal". Good luck!

Bye Bye High Blood Pressure Meds
MrsG replied to zbeeze's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That's so amazing!! Congratulations!! -
How far out are you? Regrets I think are normal in the beginning. It takes time getting used to this surgery and all it comes with. Your body goes thru a lot and you are trying to figure things out still. I know I still have times when I'm not hungry (never hungry for breakfast) but you have to make yourself eat. Are you on solids yet? I started to feel better when I could eat solid food again. Luckily I haven't had a problem with Water but that's another thing you have got to make yourself do. You don't want to dehydrate yourself and cause other problems. What's done is done and you can't go back. All you can do now is embrace this and keep doing your best getting in your Protein will help give you energy so that might be part if your issue with feeling tired. I feel better the further out from surgery I get and I hope you do as well!

I have worse breath than my dog!
MrsG replied to bmbrush413's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeon and I've also read on the Internet that if you swallow it, it could cause a small intestinal blockage which would in turn require you to have surgery to have it removed. I didn't even think about the other thing of it creating saliva , etc. I've had no issues with it and my dietician said it was ok to chew so long as its not swallowed. You're lucky to have not had the bad breath -
I didn't think so either.

My dr makes her patients stop any kind of hormone pills, birth control and estrogen/progesterone a few weeks before surgery. I think also because they cause blood clots. I used to take birth control because of my PCOS but have not resumed after surgery because I now have a period on my own. My husband is fixed so I don't have to worry about getting preggers.
