I just returned from a vacation with my family to Disneyland. The trip was great but eating was a nightmare. I avoided the kids meals in the park because they consisted of a hamburger or chicken nuggets. Both things I A)shouldn't eat and B)can't swallow without PB'ing! I'm back on track now but wondering if I'm really going to lose all the weight I need to lose. Do you ever feel this way? I've lost only about 25 lbs now and I have this longing dread in my mind that I will never start losing weight quickly and steadily..

Since my fill I've PB'd twice

My family and I just returned from Disneyland and I PB'd nearly every meal I ate. I'm concerned this will make my band slip. Any idea if it will?? I do not feel restriction and I'm wondering if this is because I'm eating too fast so I do feel full? How is everyone else doing? I'm coming up on my 2 month anniversay..I want to be down to 255 by my next fill on 8/16 I've got a lot of work to do to get there though...:cry -
I think it would be interesting if everyone posted their fill amount and 1st experience. I get my 1st fill tomorrow so I'll post back on my experience. :biggrin1:

I received 1.2 cc's in my band during my 1st fill. I'm feeling great. It was easy, painless.. kind of a strange feeling when you drink and can't swallow and they have to remove some. Looking forward to losing like crazy! :whoo:

I'm trying to decide between lapband and gastric. My concern is erosion and slipage. I'd like to know how many people suffer from either of these. I have to pay cash for my surgery so I want to make the most educated decision I possibly can. Also, does anyone who had the lapband regret it and wish they would have had the gastric instead? Another concern I have is that I live 150 miles from the doctor so I'd like to know about how many times I will need to make the trip for a fill. Finally, is their less chance of weight gain with lapband then gastric in the long run? Thanks for the advice and info in advance.

Considering Lapband and have concerns
finallythin@34 replied to finallythin@34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had my band for a month now. My 1st dr's apt and fill is on Thursday. I'm excited to finally get a fill. So far I have lost 15 lbs and I look forward to boosting my weight loss. I know that everyone loses weight differently however, what is your average weight loss per week? My goal is 3 lbs a week with exercise is that achievable from your experiences? -
I was banded 6/11/07 and I feel great! I was concerned even to the day that I went into surgery that I should have gone with the gastric instead of the band. However, I love my band and at this point I don't regret not having a gastric. As far as stopping eating...it was hard the first few days to eat just liquids or mushies when everyone else was eating regular. However, you won't feel hungry at first (atleast I didn't) so it wasn't really difficult to not eat. I'm at 3 weeks postop and I have not experienced any weakness and I began walking after one week. I walk 1.5 miles a day and I feel good with the exercise. I'll increase it gradually. I am just starting to get my hunger back and I haven't thrown up one time. In fact, as long as you eat slowly, listen to your body you shouldn't throw up. Eating slowly is the hardest thing for me but I'm learning. Early on I couldn't tell when I was full because I was eating just 2-4 oz. Now that I'm eating more I stop at the 1st sign that I'm getting full. Good luck! It will change your life!

Not Losing Much!!
finallythin@34 replied to Shrinkin'Sistah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in a very similar situation. I was banded on 6/11 weight before surgery was 284- day after surgery 294 (iv water weight) and today I weight 270. I have been juggling back and forth with 2 lbs for about a week. I walk 1.5 miles a day and I'm finding it tough to brush off the hungries. So far I have not had any problems with anything I've tried to eat. In fact, it makes me want to try other things like bread, and pasta.. which I'm having difficulty avoiding! I'm praying that on my next visit 7/12 I will get a fill. My goal is to lose atleast 50 lbs before our Christmas vacation trip. I know its a lofty goal but I'm willing to work for it if I can get some restriction to assist me! -
Good luck tomorrow. I'm sure you will do great!

I finally got my surgery date of June 11, 2007. I'm excited but a bit nervous. This is going to be such a new beginning for me but I'm concerned about possible complications in surgery. Did anyone have any?

I was born and raised here. I'm still searching forjust the right doctor. I have to pay cash for surgery because of my great insurance company but I think it will be worth it to be able to play with my boys and live longer.
-
I have Regence Value Care through BC/BS and they have it written into my policy that it is specifically excluded. I think were SOL...

Looking for info on Utah Doctors

Do how many fills have you had to get the 30 lb weight loss? I have nearly 130 lbs to lose and I'm not certain if I'll be losing fast enough with the lapband rather then the GBY. -
Considering Lapband and have concerns
finallythin@34 replied to finallythin@34's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks everyone for responding. As far as slippage goes- when they remove the band will they put another one on? Is that the patients choice? I'm leaning towards lapband because I really want to have another baby. I'm 34 and have had years of infertility issues. My concern is if I have a gastric I will be forced to wait a year or two before getting pregnant and with my history this could be catistrophic. I know there are risks with both operations but if you were to chose a surgeon who forces outpatient surgery who has done 900 lapbands verse a surgeon who has done primarily gastric and has done about 40 lapbands but allows an overnight stay in the hospital which would you choose? I don't want to drive all the way home to early and become sick with outpatient surgery.
