1 year surgiversary!

Thanks Everyone!! To answer the question how much weight have I lost? I would say it's almost 90 pounds from my heaviest. That being said, I had lost about 35 pounds prior to surgery due to my diabetes diagnosis. So, since the surgery, it's been about 55 pounds. Doesn't seem like a lot, but considering I was in a size 20/22 pants and a 3X shirt, I'll take it!! I love being able to shop anywhere! And yes, my family has been 100% supportive. My husband can't keep his hands to himself - so annoying sometimes!! All in all, as I said, it was the best decision I've ever made. Although I haven't made my personal goal, I can't believe how I look and feel. Good luck to all of you! -

Hi everyone! I just wanted to share my story. This past Tuesday marked my one year anniversary. BEST. DECISION. EVER. I have been off all diabetes medications since the day of my surgery. 2 needles and 2 doses of metformin daily. DONE. I am down to a size 8, and a medium shirt. I've never felt better. I eat what I want, but obviously in much smaller quantities. Good luck to anyone that is taking this journey. It's been a hell of a ride!!

I make my own. I couldn't get the RTD ones down. Pre-op my favorite was chocolate protein powder with water and ice, mixed with a banana and some peanut butter. Post op, I really enjoyed the chocolate powder with coconut almond milk....tastes just like an almond joy. Now I mostly stick with vanilla powder, mixed with the coconut almond milk, a banana and some pineapple. Just like a piña colada! If you're having trouble, try making your own. You can use sugar free pudding mix to add some flavor, or a lot of people on here use sugar free torani syrups to mix it up. -

How'd your appointment go? -

I could hardly tolerate ANY liquids my first week. He suggested Vitamin Water, which worked like a charm. Still have to drink everything room temperature. I'm just starting to be able to drink things from the fridge. As for your protein....Unjury has a chicken broth flavored protein that you can take in warm, like broth. I've never actually tried it, but a lot of people on here love it. Maybe that'll help? You're still so early on, I think your goal right now should be just to stay hydrated. The protein will definitely come! Just listen to your body and you'll be fine. -

Staples didn't hurt coming out. Maybe just a tiny pinch. Louise did mine. Not sure if we were on the same timetable....she advanced me to protein shakes made with stuff in them. Like banana and peanut butter and things like that. She also said I could have tomato soup. I remember all I wanted was something that wasn't sweet!! She'll give you a guideline with dates on when you can advance to purees. I want to say it was at about 4 weeks out. It's a pretty detailed list. Like I said, I think his post op diet is the main reason why I've had no problems with anything I've tried. Stick to the plan....it's only for a couple of months, but it's so worth it! Good luck' -

Congrats! He did my surgery on October 1st. I absolutely LOVE him!! Yes, his post op is a bit strict, but honestly for me, it flew by. I haven't had any problems with anything I've had to eat. Haven't thrown up once. I really believe it's because I eased into it. Day of surgery I weighed 206, today I'm at 161. -
plz post before and after pics ! :)

Abso-freakin'-lutely you should say yes!!! I would....my husband probably wouldn't be too happy though! -
I just made taco dip cupcakes. Cream cheese, salsa, Mexican shredded cheese on top. 7 grams of protein per cupcake, and oh so yummy!! And I also made a take on the ricotta bake...same thing in a wonton wrapper. Perfect for lunches!

Duh! That would've been helpful info to have! Yep - chocolate Protein Powder. Sorry about that!

I just thought I'd share a new find. I used Blue Diamond Non Sweetened Coconut Almond milk with 2 scoops of protein powder, and it tasted just like an Almond Joy!! First shake I've been able to finish post-op. During my liquid diet, my favorite was peanut butter, banana and chocolate. Now, the just the thought makes me gag. But not this one!!

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

I was sleeved on the 1st. Starting on Saturday I've been having a real hard time with water. There's pain on the way down, almost like a contraction right behind my sternum. Anyone else? -
I was just sleeved last week, but my surgeon told me I could continue to take Zyrtec, but in the liquid form. I haven't actually had to yet.....
